A very useful video for newbies, including your recommendation to get out there and try it out. I didn't 'ultralight' bushwalk, but I did work out how to cut down by several Kgs after the first week-long walk. And remember, it is not the number kms you put into a day, but rather the amount enjoyment you get from the day. Happy walking !
Here is tip guys, try using a poncho for a tent like me. The poncho is a lot cheaper then a tent, takes less space and weighs less too plus is also a rain jacket and a pad to lay down when the floor is wet
A BIG thing that is usually never mentioned in gear talk when people are WALKING all day is FOOTWEAR AND SOCKS!!!I If what you have on below the waist or knees weights an extra 250 grams, then every 8 steps you have lifted an extra 1,000g/1kg. So 80 steps burns energy for 10kg, now run that math up to 10 or 20 kilometres.
