Honestly i just play mercs as a whole. My gaming group doesn’t care and it gives you way more access to different lists. For instance you can run an all Pyke syndicate or black sun army that recruits boba fett or assassin droids. But also if you’re technically not allowed to run only mercs, why do empire era mercs like fett, din djarin, IGs droids, etc all have the mercenary token since clone wars mercs are the only real merc army
When you think you know what faction you want to play, please let me know if you need any help getting started. It costs about 250 to have a reasonable starting force. If you find some to split a core within the leading 4 factions, that cost could come down.
yes The game can be quite thematic if you are not min-maxing I enjoy playing the game not only thematically with lists but also the battlefield we build
