I'm focusing mainly on RU-vid, but I'm starting to make clips of my RU-vid videos and upload them to Facebook with a link back to my RU-vid channel. Sometimes it's hard to make a video weekly, so one method (that I'm still putting into practice) is taking a week to make several videos and then scheduling them to upload weekly. I find that this buys me some time to work on bigger projects. Of course, I'm trying to make high quality content rather than "throw away" content.
Great video! What kind of content should one make if they are a music artist, but they don't have the time/resources to create high-quality music videos like Peter Hollens?
Thanks Graham! Good stuff - for me the biggest issue is finding the time to make content. I know that's a lame excuse, but I think it's a common thing for a lot of people. When you're in school, work full time, have a family, also do music (in our specific cases), etc. how do you manage to create quality content (which of course takes time to create). Maybe this is a future video, but something about how to streamline would be awesome. Maybe both in business/content creation generally, but also streamlining the video-making process specifically. Thanks again, keep it up!
I make music and music education content. Quite frankly, it isn’t working right now on RU-vid. I’m not really trying to “make it” in the music business anymore, but I am trying to use my talents and knowledge to create income for me and my family. I also put together a guitar course on my website a month ago and haven’t sold 1. Any suggestions?
I have a photography education site focused on writing blog articles to date. Started in July 2020. Will also be creating “5 minute screen capture tutorials” for Lightroom and Photoshop on RU-vid.
Had been planning on putting up a music visualisation once every two weeks, but now I look at it I'm thinking I/we (google 'The Quantum Sweep') are going to need more, so I'm looking at making a visualisation one week and then an analysis/process/tutorial video for the same track the next week... It's just so slow so far!
With all of the constant changes to the algorithms on nearly every social media channel and search engines like Google, it seems to be getting much more difficult to get your content seen organically. You can do all the research in the world on what people want to see but even if you develop content around their interests it ends up being buried in Google/RU-vid search results and Facebook news feeds (assuming you even have any followers to begin with).Wouldn't some paid ads be advisable (and almost necessary) in the beginning to build some awareness of your brand and the content you are creating?
MotionPointe not really. Yes you might get some leads but you still need a steady stream of killer content week in and week out. From there the best thing you can do is guest posts and collabs with other content creators who are bigger than you.
Hey Graham! Thank you so much for your content! I'm trying to build a 360 production company with my friends. (Design, production, photography, video, and management/marketing) we were thinking about what we should post. If they would be demos, tutorials, behind the scenes or what? The artists we have worked for agreed to give away covers for free download and sell the original songs. Still, we are not so sure what we should do. What would you recommend? We are from México. should we do it in spanish or in english or both?
Hmm. One angle could be to create marketing strategy and branding advice for businesses. It's related to the service you offer but valuable to people even if they don't work with you.
I've started this website deluxesoundstudio.com for my studio work, expanding my portfolio, and I am looking forward to figuring out the kind of content that is still in my niche (inside the music community). I've did a little bit of searching, and I've found out that making songs, or songwriting or breaking down great songs can be a great value and interesting for others to help people understand and also write better music. I am planning the 1 post 1-week schedule. I don't know if I am 100% right about that niche but I'll start making something when I've done with my research and I found my aim in this audio world.
You can try influencer marketing to help you generate traffic. It can do so by increasing presence first through means of advertisement and promotion via influencers (popular people on social media/online with a high following), essentially becoming an effective means of kick start. If you're interested, platforms like phlanx can help you get started with influencer marketing more easily than others, or by starting scratch or manually.
I am just getting started. I am focusing on building a Patreon site and the video will be used in that context. So, I guess Patreon could be used for content marketing. Still figuring it out. I used to be a voice teacher and multi-instrument and music theory teacher. That may be where I start. KK
