I've worked for a pro window cleaning company for a couple years, we only use blue dawn. It's made to clean fine wine glasses with 0 streaks, so it only makes sense. (Use dawn, not off brand.)

I'm presently over 73 year's old. The first offical real job I had as a young adult no longer dependent on my parent's. Was that of a window washer on a 31 story bank building. The build as I stated was 31 stories high and took up an entire city block. So it had a considerably number of window's to clean. There were only six of us to clean all of them, and it took generally 10 days to clean all of them. Which meant that by the time we were done. The first ones needed cleaning again. At some point about a year after I started, one of the guys introduced the rest of us to how dish soap was not only cheaper, but did a better job. And there wasn't any streaking left, which was an issue by the various individuals inside the building always had after we had cleaned them. No matter how hard we tried, which took extra time and effort. There were streaks. After we started using dish soap, we managed to clean all the window's on the entire building in only 7 days and all were streaked free. What was ironic is, because the building's buget was based on 6 men taking 10 days to clean the windows. And it only took 6 men using dish soap to clean them in 7 days. The budget was cut, I was one of two that lost our jobs and the remaining 5 were back to taking 10 days to clean the window's. LOL

I had to make my own money as a teenager so it was washing windows and mowing lawns. I was given newspaper and vinegar for the windows. Vinegar works really well, but newspapers gave me black hands. That was about 50 years ago. LOL

I had my windows professionally cleaned recently, and they used Dawn and a squeegee also. The windows looked incredible when they were finished. 👍

Tap the wet screen or wipe with a dry cloth BEFORE you move it over to the clean window. Less chance of water splat when moving screen toward clean outside window.

Did this for years on my store windows. He’s absolutely right.

Or you can install Pella sliders . They have the screens on the inside of the doors. They stay so much cleaner. I have 5 sets on the front of my house and I can wash all 20 glass doors inside and out in under 30 minutes. I have been using the same professional squeegee and what they call lambskin washer on the glass for over 35 years and they're still in great shape. Buy quality like Ettore , take care of it and it will last forever. I was taught by a professional window cleaner who works on high-rises how to mix the solution this video does pretty good better than most but you only need a couple drops not even four or five just a few. And use good equipment it's not that expensive . I bought mine in 1981 .

I do a similar thing, except I just fill a spray bottle with the same solution. Spray, scrub, spray, squeegee. Works very similarly. Hose spray for screens.

I tried this, let me tell you the wife was upset with the hose in the house.

Someone asked about getting smoke residue off. I used that new product “Wet and Forget” on the exterior windows, screens, and vinyl ceiling and walls of a smoked up lanae. It took going over it all three times, but there were no smelly, dangerous chemicals involved.

I've used dawn inside and outside for decades. I still go up and down, not across. Finish with a clean micosoft cloth. SHINES

As a professional window washer. The Best dish soap is sunlight original. 5 gallon bucket a “squirt” of soap. Don’t push so hard . And they make professional squeezes of pretty cheap

Before I wash my windows ,I use a dampened paper towel to get the dirt off . Why would I want extra work by cleaning a dirty window . I live in Brooklyn New York and hardly see anyone on my block clean their windows !Thanks for the tips .👍😉

At a motel that I worked at we added isopropyl alcohol to the window cleaner and it worked great, better than soap.

Dawn is great for car Windows inside and outside. Works great on cleaning eyeglasses too. PS. I don’t have tinted car windows.

That same squeegee is what we use in our bathroom showers. It is the best.

40 years high rise window cleaning started using Dawn in the 90's ( everyone used to use sunlight... some still do but Dawn is best) there are some other tricks to cleaning damaged glass but for just straight dirt and bird crap this is what I've been using for years.

All except for living in an apartment building with balconies and you don't have a garden hose. Otherwise, good video! I'll try a slight adaptation soaking the windows down with just a sponge and water, then put the soap on the rag as you showed. I might tree a Dollar General squeegee as they're right across the street from me.

Very informative video! Just one question; "Did you use a microfiber cloth to apply the soapy water?

I actually have that exact same car squeegee, purple and all. Never thought to use it on my windows - was looking at getting a squeegee for windows 🤯. They say add som Jet Dry liquid to the water too. Oh and plain distilled water or distilled water with a minuscule amount of soap on inside mirrors followed by a dry with a terry cloth works better than any product.

Dawn is the best, it gets the traffic grime and grill grime off window's. People in condo's use electric porch grills usually right next to sliders. Nothing cuts oil like dawn. NO OTHER dish soap is any good.

Wash the window down with cold water, no detergent. Wipe off the excess with a squeegee. Dry it with newspaper. Try it, it's cheap, easy and doesn't leave streaks.

always good to do when it's over cast as well... nothing worse than the sun baking the glass while trying to make the $$$.. also good idea to wear a hat and shades... I've burnt my face doing big dollar homes clinging off ladders lmao... always good to see info like this

For grimy glass or car windows with a smoke film on them use a magic eraser with a glass cleaner and dry with a rag.

The only thing you need to clean windows is water. If really dirty, a few drops of dishwash liquid to help. But the key to clean windows is to leave absolutely no residue. This means that dirt does not accumulate. And in future only water is needed. Only water = no residue. And that means no sticky dirt. A squeegee and warm water should be all you ever need.

It's 1 teaspoon of soap to 1 gallon of warm water and it works extremely well on automotive glass too.

Windex also is a excellent fly killing spray. Kills them when sprayed directly on them within 5-minutes.

Easier way: Microfiber Cloth + 70% Rubbing Alcohol + buffing motions = done issue with soap; it does leave behind a small film that will attract more dirt to stick, though little. Method I mentioned works beautifully especially on car windows where you easily see streaks. Used this for years and works flawlessly.

Does it matter if you use cold or hot water? I noticed you used garden hose cold water 🤔

And for those of us, the other 50%, that don’t live in a house with a garden hose! Have a spray bottle of water n a few drops of dish soap, a dry rag, and a good squeegee like an Unger brand, a cheap squeegee will cause streaks, spray the window down starting from the top, then grab your squeegee wipe down the window with it, slightly overlap each section you squeegee and finish off with your dry clean rag wiping the whole perimeter of the window. Each time you make a full stroke with your squeegee you can wipe your squeegee off so it doesn’t drip as you move it to the next section under neath. Watch some youtubes on how a professional squeegees a whole window without lifting the squeegee blade off the window, practice doing that makes it a challenge that’s rewarding once you grasp that skill, and then makes cleaning a window super fast! 🍻

Have been cleaning windows like this for almost 50 years, it works every time, only extra thing I would do is get a barely damp towel and dry the frames and seals, then there’s no drips or marks anywhere.... 👍

I clean windows for a living, the problem with streaks is that there is too much soap in the mix, all that is needed is enough for a squeegee to slide. Wipe the edges and stay out of the middle

Put some vinegar in there, too. It really helps cut the grimy film and makes them shine. Hot water is better if you can get it.

I love this video despite many many people telling me the whole bucket of water thing is out of date & I should use a modern spray cleaner this video is the way I’ve always cleaned my windows and received compliments on how streak free they are.

No rinsing of soap residue? Squeegees are great but don't work well in corners, etc.. Still some hand-wiping necessary.

This is a great "hack" tried it today much better and quicker than a window vac, an extra tip if you can get the angle of the blade as close to the window as possible it takes more water away, it took me 30 min to do my windows rather than 45 min. Good dad tip.. 👍😉

That car blade works great on cars also. I've been using one for over 30 years. It really cuts down on your drying time.

I started doing this technique last year. I discovered it accidentally after the futility of Windex-type products. But I use a telescoping sponge, like those used for car washes (bought mine at Harbor Freight) so there's less bending and reaching on higher windows. I never even squeegee- just hose it off and let it dry. Very simple technique and very effective.

Thanks, Dawn is not available in Australia any more, but it was the best!! So, its normal dish soap. A hint when those annoying Telemarketers call to ask if you are having trouble with windows (micro soft). Yep, just ask them about a streak free finish (use Dawn and water).

I hose the window, put Dawn on a cheap, kitchen sponge mop, scrub the window, and hose it off. I never use a squeegee. It dries streak free. Every time! Plus the mop reaches high. No climbing.😀
