Hi! It is good replacement for a pin press tool.If a piston is to be used again put some rubber under the socket, also consider long socket for full swing. 2 stroke piston pins are press fit into piston, 4 stroke are floating. Avoid whacking on a pin: the connecting rod can be bend or lower bearing damaged. Press tool and/or preheat piston. Mitch Yours tutorial made me ready to work on my CN250 scooter - quite a jump after servicing K75 and K1100 BMW's, thanks a million!

Hey, yes you are correct about stuff. I did some whacking only on purpose to show what not to do. Yes tall socket and longer bolt works better, I didn't get to do that... I filmed this in 2018 haha 😆 I rode this scooter after fixed... 50 miles very good then the buyer who bought this scooter from me is still riding today, I just checked in with her 😄 Very cool! Ride safe Loosiu!

Or pour boiling water on the piston to expand it. Then the gudgeon pin will push out by hand.

Thank you Mitch for the tip. Are the pins usually this stubborn to remove? I will be soon installing a 70cc kit. (Yamaha BWs 50/YW50/Zuma 50)

You're welcome! The piston was damaged from losing oil cause hard to get pin out...(bought scooter like that) if your Zuma is running good, should have no problem... just push it out smooth.

have here a 125cc gy6 seized on the piston and on the rod, the engine actually stalled, the piston won't rock, gonna try it like you showed,thanks, if not i'll cut the piston in pieces; hope i can polish and save the rod id.

How to release a piston seized in the cylinder block ( caused by non-usage) due to oxidation deposits over time? Soaking in various concotions of diesel, 2T engine oil, castor oil, vinegar amidst unlimited sprays of WD-40. Not helping in the piston release. 😢
