This video makes it sound so easy, you wanna finish the Nifleheim favors, get ready for a fat grind. I've been into the maze probably around 100 times and it took forever. Once you can make a round through the whole maze without dying to the mist, that's when you start getting good amounts of mist echoes. I got about 12k from one run.
My game glitched once and I wasn't taking mist damage until I got hit by the blade trap I didn't die but the mist health bar started to deplete after that I got like 30k mist echos from that
There appears to be a lot of confusion, so I'm going to try to explain. The Deadly Mist set has higher stats overall. It has higher strength, luck, vitality and defense than the Valkyrie set. But the Valkyrie set has higher cooldown and runic, it's good for runic attacks. In the end it's your opinion on which set to choose. Would you rather be hitting your enemy with powerful runic attacks, or would you rather be more well rounded? It's up to you. But know this, it is entirely subjective. Neither armour is objectively better than the other.
IMO, the strongest armor set, in terms of strength, is smoldering Brimstone +. It brings your strength status close to, if not over 500, once it's maxed out.
I just bought a PS4 for this, horizon, Spiderman etc etc and the upcoming ghost of tsushima. Just completed the story for this today and it was amazing. Only things I have left to do is the Valkyries in the mist and fire realms as well as the queen.
Get both of them ASAP if you still haven't yet. Such a great stress reliever, especially in the current climate of things going on these days. Keeps you thinking etc. Invest in you and enjoy
You can get to Niflheim way earlier then that mission. As soon as you have the second encounter with the World Serpent and the water drops again you can explore the Lake of Nine for those masked chests and get at least 3 of them that way. You don't have to wait till you get to Tyr's temple. When I did the mission path to Jotunheim the masked chests spawned purple enchantments for me FYI. Just like Nornir chests spawn enchantments when you got all 18 apples and blood mead.
i went to niflheim before i went to jötenheim to drop ashes... was clueless end is so near, and i was grinding in stupid fog like idiot.... had dwarfs armor till that point, also this regeneration is so useless, way too slow and dosent help in boss fights. now i have just to kill queen of valkyrie for the lulz. i think their armor is better.
@@Zfast4y0u Yeah the health regeneration is really too little bit. Would have been more worthwhile if was more. That Valkyrie Queen though. Lord that bugger hard to kill. She is the devil. I had to eventually give up. Only boss I failed to kill.
In case y’all didn’t alr know there is a layout of the fog maze if u google it, there is a seperate room for a Valkyrie which when defeated turns into a room where you can find the anchor of fog (I think it’s called I can’t remember lmao) it’s really easy to remember the layout and if u have the right armour and upgrades running around the base and grabbing all the echoes you need will be easy as hell
I have the Deadly Mist set fully upgraded and the Valkyrie set fully upgraded. The Valkyrie set is better than the Mist set. It has way higher Cooldown stats and more useful perks.
I have both sets as well and the deadly mist armor is way higher the the valkyrie armor. I guess it boils down to what enchantments you use on your armor.
I am talking about base stats. Valkyrie armor has better base stats and since both have the same amount of enchantment slots it means its also the better armor with enchantments. Obviously if you compare the deadly mist set with enchantments to the valkyrie set without enchantments, the deadly mist set with be better. But thats a pointless comparison.
To be honest I prefer the effects that come from Valkyrie armor. You don’t need that constant health regen from the mist armor if you’re not getting hit. All a matter of opinion of course.
The gift of Apollo, Vitality talisman and Hraezla Farmaor's axe pommel are much more viable than the HP regen on this. Especially that axe pommel and 'grinding storm'
I completed the game with shitty Stats. My highest stats were my strength and defense. The amount of time I sat through and the patience I've acquired. Kratos would be proud.
I did the same thing. There were a lot of rooms in the game that had enemies that will kill you in 1 hit. You just gotta learn how to parry and dodge perfectly and counter the enemies. Cheesing them helps too when possible
@@annachang11 you can get the armour way earlier if you went to do all side quest. In my case.. I only got the option to purchase the armour before going to the wold serpent's belly. I got it by doing the challenge in muslpheim(?)
Mmm. Something that happened once thoe is i got all the Musplheim Syphers right after leaving Alfheim and because of that some Niflheim Syphers didn't triggered it does now but i still have to look for a lot.
The mist set stat for stat will give a tiny increase but has next to no cooldown and it's HP Regen isn't the best. Valkyrie set for everthing will give you slightly lower stats but almost 100 cooldown extra, it's unique abilities cater to high runic attack use. So yeah the mist set has higher stats but the Valkyrie set is catered to runic attacks so you can't compare them. One set is focuses on physical attacks and the other on runic attacks. Depending on you're playstyle will change which armour you believe to be the best. End of the day you get roughly the same stat points their just more spread on the Valkyrie set. Hence why the description says "favours well rounded stats"
Valkyrie set is superior to mist set imo for that reason. Especially the loot you get from sigrun. Makes ng+ playthroughs really feel like being an op god
Just had the game the past few days. I kinda agree to this one. I farmed a bit in muspel to upgrade once for each piece then went on sweeping the valkyries. Now im heading for their queen to test it.
This really is the best armor lol. I spent hours and hours in the maze. At first it's really hard but as you upgrade the armor you become more powerful and unstoppable. Well worth it. By the time I when to Musphelheim to the the challenges it was a peace of cake.
What if you've completed the challenges in muspelheim and still mats are not enough? Only valkyrie left. Where to get more smoldering ember? Thanks for helping.
Dude you can replay the trials on muspelheim just go back to the challenges arenas and you will see the swords respawned again but now its a diffirent and hard challenges, if you completed all of them exept the last one whitch were the valkyrie fight occured, the last arena will demand these 3 keys to begin the fight but if you fail the challenge there is no restart you need to redo all of the past three challenges to get the keys in order to activate the last arena's challenge whitch devided into to tiers of completion :bronze, silver,gold and the better tier the better reward you get but just a tip if you attempt to do the last challenge be sure to read the challenge before starting it cuz its nothing near easy to acheive the gold tier points
My personal preference is for sure “Brok’s Loyal Dwarven” Wrist+Chest armor (NG+) and Waist-guard Of The Valkyrie (NG+), in my opinion altogether they make very balanced stats, just be sure to pick the right socket enchantments and your golden for tackling GMGOW.
Sindry on hifelheim (don't know how to spell it) was like armor weapons the travel time to misfelheim you want it's your my friend and just gave it to me
@Austin George No I don't remember then, but I remember He-Man, The Beastmaster, Conan, Kirk losing his shirt every other episode and more... wrestling as well, no one ever bitched about the men being objectified and the boys weren't so emotionally traumatized by those unrealistic standards that they started killing themselves en mass from depression.
This is refreshing... it sort of bothers me when a game just hands over the best equipment. "Oh, you're at a pretty late stage in the game, eh? Well, here's a super OP weapon for ya. Enjoy!" God of War really makes the player work hard to get that Mist armour, not only for the components necessary to make it, but also for the resources necessary to afford each upgrade. Once a full set is crafted, the player would actually feel a sense of accomplishment; they put in a lot of time and effort to get that armour, they deserve it. Games that hand it to the player on a silver platter give no sense of accomplishment whatsoever.
i had all the travel runes way, way before going into the world serpent. as you noted, there are more chests than you need, so you will get them all just by continually exploring.
I upgraded all three versions of the mist armor and I say the deadly is the best. Though personally, I think the Valkyrie armor looks the best. With the right stones, you can achieve better stats than the mist armor.
Best STACKED set up - Cuirass of Valkyrie - maxed out Waist guard of Valkyrie - maxed out Gauntlets of deadly mist - maxed out Shattered gauntlet of ages talisman (w/ eye of the outer realm, Andvari’s soul, and Ivaldi’s corrupted mind) Thank me later
i got the set earlier today, niflheim punishes you if you make too many mistakes. but once you learn it its so easy and you get about 7000 mist echoes a run (my experience)
Tbh for me by far is the zeus set the best set. To get health back is nice and good but when you do incredible damage with a crazy combo, you dont need any other stats.
I believe this by a ton I personally love mist armour due to it reduces the time gauge that's in nefilheim's mist but then I started using smoldering embers to get armour and I started getting addicted to getting fire armour and I still used it but I never understood how worth mist armour was I'm going to complete the game again and buy it trust me it's worth it all the way
You don't need to progress that far in the main story for the ciphers, the one in the summit was the last one for me, one is located at a beach at the lake of nine and two others I got during some random side quest/exploring.
Man I was crafting this last night and i made two pieces of the Cursed set and one of the “all around” set thinking they would still add up for the set bonus. I wish I watched this first lol
I didn't go to Jottemheim nor did I do the quest where you get into the serpents mouth yet. Still I got all 4 ciphers. I already had three when I did the "return to the summit" quest. Seems there are many roads leading to Rome... 😉
I expected getting the full set of armor to take a while but it didn’t take long tbh, same goes with the upgrades. Maybe playing monster hunter made this level of grind feel like a cake walk.
If you get the cod of war chest plate every health stone you get does damage to enemy’s around you and if you get the full set the health stones and rage stones do damage to the enemy’s and the rage stones do fire damage but in order to damage the enemy’s they have to be close and if you get a health stone with the full set you get invincibility count down after getting health or rage stone
I did not expect to play the game after finishing the story. But I’m an addict to these types of game. I will even make a new game because of my addictions.
Just my opinion you can follow it or not. The best mist armor (my opinion) is the endless mist set because it gives you high vitality and decent amount of defence. Its good for fighting valkyries
Getting started with the maze is the worst. Once you learn a rough way to navigate and how to pick and choose your battles enough to get some armor and upgrades that help ypu last longer it gets WAY easier I promise
You know what's funny. I've had the deadly mist set since 2 days ago and didn't even realize this is the best set in the game, so i continued to search what's the best and didn't even realized i've already got it
The NG+ version of this armor kinda ruins the look, same with the Smouldering Brimstone armor. I'm not a big fan of the Ancient armor reskin and yet that's the skin they used for my two favorite armors. Smfh, the original metal versions look better
Bro I did all the side quests and I already got to nifilhiem and got the whole set and upgraded the axe to max and I haven't even started the flipping the temple quest of finished the game (by the way I play in normal mode) so I will have op armour when doing the rest of the story (this is my first playthrough I just try to do everything in the game early).
I'm pretty sure in my first play through of this I got the niphlhiem cipher before I ever went into the serpents belly. I dont know how much they changed it since I started that playthrough, but so far I dont think tis changed to much.
Two things you got wrong are: 1. You can unlock Niflhiem just you get to the summit again, as the other 3 parts of the cyphers can be found around the lake of the nine. 2. The Valkarie armour is better.
A nice guide but a lacking one. You can get the cipher much earlier than you suggest in the video. (you can have it completed before you flip the temple) and you forgot to mention that a higher luck stat rewards you with more mist echoes and alloys. Additionally, if you go through the maze breaking the poor chests first (if you have the time) you get more mist echoes since every opened chest will reward you with more echoes. That way golden chests will reward you with much, much more echoes if they are the last you open and you get more mist echoes in the run.
Okay so I figured out the best build but im not a youtuber so here it is: Chest: ivaldis spaulders of cursed mist Wrist: gauntlet of the valkyrie Waist: ivaldis war belt of cursed mist Talisman: shattered gauntlet of ages (because it has 3 enchantment sockets) Now the reason why this is the best end game build is because if you play around with your enchantments you can get your Runic and Defense to 250 which will grant you all the bonus perks for those skills and your cooldown to 100 which also unlocks the additional perks. So in total you should have 15 bonus perks in the skill tree which is the most you can have. These are my stats right now: Strength: 232 Runic: 252 Defense: 252 Vitality: 54 Luck: 53 Cooldown: 102 Boom. You’re welcome
A Sean with the enchantments. Just play around with the enchantments that you have and try to get your strength and defense to atleast 250 and your cooldown to atleast 100

Important note - - the mission is most certainly NOT called “UNLOCK the realm of fog.” There is no “unlocked“ in it - - it is simply called “the realm of fog.“ This is important because I don’t want other people to be searching for this exact wording when looking through the journal - - took me 10 minutes to find it because I was trusting this video with the exact wording
