This just makes the argument of removing addons from pvp stronger, didnt blizz have an old policy for no addons in arena tournaments or something like that?
When arena released it was much more enjoyable imo, now last time i played arena (last year) i feel i spent more time adjusting weakauras/bigdebuffs and the like over and over than actually playing arenas, granted queue times were also a culprit in this. (soloq and 2v2 mostly)
If skillcapped are charging money for their UI, what is preventing every other mod maker to do the same and charge money as well? Its just the beginning but if blizzard doesnt care about paid addons, sooner or later every addon will get behind paywall
They have spent thousands of hours showing us how to setup Your UI. And you dont pay for the addon you pay for them fixing Your UI, by buying their subscription. All the addons it sets up for you are free
This has been how paid addons work for a long time, its why thry haven't banned Zygor & Rested XP, the addon still has functionality, but you pay for additional functionality. They've been doing it like this for years now, Zygor might even be a decade old at this point.
Some functionality just doesn’t exist in the base game yet, for example moving buffs. Looking to the top left to see if ancient teachings is active or not is such a pain. A quick WA to just add a tracker to near my toon is insanely helpful. Same with the AH ui, I want to be able to just repost everything I usually post, I can do that with TSM right now.
@@user-vs3wo2cq3i found a workaround from some forum and i can confirm it works: Basically all "premium" options are in the same folder with others - SkillCapped/presets/addons/ So just put SkillCappedDB.WeakAura = true in Interface/AddOns/SkillCapped/events.lua after line 12 and line 15 and do /reload then type /sc press Setup and u'll see hidden addons
i'm trying to use it right now. its alright but some glaring issues i dealt with immediately after install. the buff/debuffs on nameplates are NOT great. it looks a little cleaner than what i had before, but i was better off sticking with something i had been using for years and tuned to give me all relevant info. for anyone reading this, take your time, make your own UI.
@@AlexPetcu84 I had to get a full refund, I spent so much time setting up my own UI after watching countless guides, when this add on changed the chat font even, and my entire layout that didn't match my screen resolution / interface enlarge, it became a cluster fuck.
@@AlexPetcu84 after using it for about a week, i was still having issues, and ran into a major issue that guarantees i will never do it again. i updated everything through curseforge(everything i COULD update that is, most of the addons in the pack are not on curseforge or do not show properly) joined a solo shuffle, and all of my macros/all of my keybinds were deleted. basically wiped out my entire cache or wtf folder or whatever it is that controls keybinds/macros. i had nothing left and was NOT able to recover any of it. years of fine tuning help/harm macros, little tiny tweaks to certain things to have it all erased instantly. the keybinds are not a huge issue, but having your macros deleted from every character was a huge slap in the face.
I”d like all addons to be removed for 1 season. I actualy want to see how many of ranks ones can play without. Setups and dr”s would be way more failed but more mistakes = more humanly mistakes and more fun. We managed to make wow a corporate spreadsheet job

This addon means people get their UI perfectly organized straight away, without having to figure out how to hide or exclude all the bloat & unnecessary stuff. Are you arguing that addons should go completely? If so, I think that's a fine alternative too. But in the current climate, addons are allowed. And this gives players without 10 years of addon experience the ability to compete on the same level...

they commissioned someone to make the betterblizzplates addon (we get that for free). what you pay for is the profile- you're basically paying for convenience, since you can set it up the same way if you aren't lazy

13:40 OMG YES. I NEED THAT. I just DL'd AVO, Ima do that as soon as i log on. I would always just disable Minions nameplates for every class outside shamans lol, now i can have it activated and never worry about remembering to shut off or turn on that option. WOO.
1.) I like they showed you how to setup your addons for free before they offer you the option to do it for you, for a fee. 2.) Their video is still educational to those who want to learn more, than complain about the state of the game.
Does anyone know if there is a good way to make sure that changes like these only happen on specific characters? i kinda wanna add some of these to my pvp ui but i have a feeling i'll end up ruining the one i use for pve.

This might be a hot take, but I think Mes has the absolute worst nameplate setup in all of WOW. His plater profile makes me want to rip my eyes out it's so cluttered
It’s against TOS to sell addons, but external data is within TOS. For example TSM is free, but TSM premium lets you use their data for it. Same with this, base add on is free, some custom profiles are premium but you can still get those addons for free and config them yourself.
All the addons are free though. If you can figure out how to set them up, great! If not, play skillcapped to do it for you. It's the service you're paying for, not the addon itself.
Wow’s UI is disgusting and hurts my eyes to look at. Especially in PVP. They should just remove addons and force people to use skill. So what if you can’t see the rouge pop shadow dance, or the Druid pop incarnation. Anticipate and use your brain. I don’t step foot in arena other than to farm conquest and play solo shuffle. Absolutely sweaty ratty mess. Random bgs is where it’s at. If wow removed all these addons. I would respect PVP players so much more especially pros. But with all the addons they just appear slimy and ratty to me

Despite them suggesting visual information management, can you count how many places the UI will show you the same buff or debuff information? Answer: >1. Means there is clutter and information waste.
10:45 if a person can't tell what spell is being used from the effects, something's wrong, but then again I do play every class and watch every spell animation and effect thoroughly to know what's going on. I always know what's been used and hasn't been used, how long it's up or down. I don't use any addons for pvp really, Vuhdo for my healers, and classes that have team mate support, I.E. Thorns, freedom, intervene(this is just to have less stupid keybinds like [target]@Arena1 shit crowding my UI bars). I use the Blizz UI for most everything, even tracking enemy CD's/trinkets.
I get that add ons aren’t going anywhere but all this amounts to approved cheating by blizzard. If you go to sports game and the enemy team knew your plays as you were calling them it would be cheating.
This is definitely not true. Stealing signs and signals happens _all_ the time in sports. It's only a problem if they use nefarious ways to get he data. In this case, all the data is not only in the logs, it's in the APIs published by blizzard. You can hate the UI, but it's not cheating.

Blizz need to see it. How far addons went. Compare player WITH and WITHOUT addons \\\ that Im always talking about. PvE and PvE is bulshit now. Right now I see the best furure is disable ALL addons and ALL macros. \\ remove support from macros mouses and smart keyboards. And construct everything from scratch (without addon support) Bliizard need special separate department who will do their OWN research for addons. Right now difference between players who sue macros and addons are INCREDIBLY HUUUUUUUUUUUUGE. It newer was such big problem. Now it is. And it will be even worst if nothing will be done. I like play as healer too. And fact that UI could be changed to see me as healer above my hear (SAME FOR ENEMIES rgiht??? ) that sounds like a cheting.... I better will play withour addons that with them. I played wow without addons. Yes it was only almost 20y ago. And it was best times... Just you and just game. And you play it. Blizzard already did very good job with UI. Just need more, a bit more love. Last one. In few words. Everything what we need to use and what we can use should be INGAME! Not on 3rd party webpages. Cdew's UI is fine. It has all the information he needs in a concentrated area. People who don't watch him much think it's awful, and it's the same for those who just don't understand the concept of having all information readily available in a "central" area on the screen (in this case it's the upper right quadrant). For somebody who watches him a fair bit like I do, who also happens to be a healer, his UI is fine. Also, the man has been a top healer since forever using essentially the same UI (stuff being added on as the game grew), and has been a Blizzcon champ and AWC champ with it, so.... yeah. It may be bad for YOU but it's not "bad".
I don't use any addons myself and would love if they banned them from arena. No way you are keeping track of every enemies cool downs in your head so I consider it cheating myself.
Imagine a new player that wants to get involved in PvP and then finds out about this video for setup - I bet he'll unsubscribe from the game right away.
just saying i uninstalled almost every addon and play with like 2 or 3 of them now.... don't care anymore... rating went up by a lot.... enjoy going back to the stone ages for a clutter free exp... stopped caring that im at a slight disadvantage....
Addon overload and tracking everything is the reason I stopped playing WOW arenas. The only one I ever played with was Gladius for trinket tracking and that was it. It was enough for Wotlk and Cata days. Now its impossible and even if I wanted to try it again, just seeing a video like this is dettering enough not to even bother :D
I'm going to be honest, I have all the recommend add-ons and RARELY look at all of that information they provide, the base game has so much shit to focus on already, it's hard to keep up with every single CD from every player when I'm trying to Mid / Max my own positioning / Cd downs and burst rotation.
All the information people are using addons to track for were also there in cata and wotlk times; most people were just not good enough to track them. Blizzard didn’t add anything new to the game. You still track cd, cc, dr, trinket.
I dislike addons, always have always will, feels like unfair advantage to those who have the time to set them up. And i really dislike the visual clutter they bring, wouldnt pvp be nice if it were again 100% skill and anticipation rather then quicktime event reactions ?
this is why pvp is never gonna grow in popularity, this stuff is like 10x more than what you need to just raid or do dungeons, your entire screen is filled to the brim with shit even with these "optimized only what you really need" addons, absolutely insane, just disable addons in pvp already blizzard and take us back to the stone age, the game would be INFINITELY better and more accesible

The ui is horrid and if i need 20 outside programs for the game to be playable, it isnt worth playing. Tell me how many other games in the popular lists currently that need 20 "addons" or mods for you to be functional, never mind the concept of fun. People just want to play a game, not find out they need x or y installed on their pc made by some rando. Enjoy your sinking ship lol. What are you going to do when the game is empty?
If i need all of this shit to properly pvping in wow - fuck it!!! Totaly lame from Blizz side! They create a UX monster in pvp and they can`t tame it properly... Its totaly their job and resposibility to create comfort and usable UI for all player`s skill cap in every game aspect
This is why addon need to be banned....half the skill in pvp is gone due to addons giving you info as opposed to using your intuition and game knowledge...the only skill left is pressing the right buttons at the right time when the addon tells you to.
The game was in a much better state when arena players didn't use any addons. It was a lot more fun to watch someones use their game sense than look at a bunch of 2D icons spin on screen.
I mean nothing’s changed in that regard. Good players still had good game sense to track relevant information, and bad players still have bad game sense, regardless if they have the latest addon packs or not.
@@Lhitri yeah of course. Just like a great fps player is going to be great with wallhacks and a bad fps player is going to be bad with wallhacks. That doesn't mean wallhacks would be a healthy addition to an fps game. Edit: go watch some old arena streams before the insane usage of addons. Even the best players made mistakes with DRs, CDs and trinket usage. You never see that anymore because they can track that all precisely. It's why the meta becomes so oppressive.
Your analogy is all wrong though. Unlike “wallhacks”, no addon is showing the player an information that’s not already being shown by the game (you can even track kicks and drs with stopwatch). There are actually cheats in this game that make bad players play somewhat better, like: bots and scripts. If you believe addons are cheats... lol. All addons do is just make the information that’s already there more apparent. Also I disagree with your second statement, I still see people mess up drs and cd trades horribly. Why? Because they’re bad at the game and don’t want to improve and no amount of addon will change that. That’s why random bgs are still relevant after all those years, because you can always find noobs to pwn❤
@@Lhitri What do you mean by shown by the game? If you don't like the fps analogy, use any ability type game (fps or not). Apex Legends, League of Legends, Valorant, Dota, etc. They don't allow you to track by icon each ability or item that's been used in the game. You have to track that mentally in your head. Why don't these games have ability trackers? The whole point of a game is to obsfucate information to the end user. It's why the RTS genre has fog of war. There is literally no other point to fog of war except to hide information so you have to react and plan accordingly to what you can track in your head and the minimal information available. (Same goes for MOBAs). The stopwatch is an angostic tool within wow. It doesn't track anything specific unless the end user defines what the parameters for the stopwatch is. I'd also love to see someone track every kick, dr and cd with... a single stopwatch. Cdew used to use a stopwatch to track MCS and only MCS. He still had to see the MCS go out and hit his stopwatch macro. It was never going to be down the millisecond of the actual MCS cd nor could he track other kicks. The reason BGs are still popular is, as you state, vast majority of players don't want to play a game wherein everyone can track all things at once. There's very little room for error and addons make the game feel far more oppressive than it needs be.

If Blizzard wouly now only enforce their own rules about addons having to be free. Seriously, don't spend money on this crap. Don't spend money on any addon ever. It's not so hard to make your own UI or just copy free stuff from tons of other creators.
