I know exactly how much planing footage was cut out there, great method of cutting a neck plane. I like to use my No. 8 for the extra few inches at the back, I still end up getting enthusiastic and slipping off the block.

Olive dust is another one, after sanding my GGBO guitar it somehow got through my t-shirt and for a couple of weeks it looked like I’d been sunbathing with no sun cream and my goodness it itched! Great tip about shaping the underside of your bridge. Cheers Dave

It wasn't until I saw you get out the comically long plane that I knew how on earth you'd make the cut. :) Now I'm interested to see how you cut the pocket so can't wait until the next video!

Super valuable info Chris. LOL, being recently separated and stuck in Lockdown has resulted in a new workshop with way too many tools and too much time to use them 😉 Gonna have to take your advice and create a revenue stream from Blanks, the wood we have access to down here (when we're allowed out) is pretty special. Building a Mountain Dulcimer ATM for something different, plus really interested in Folk instruments Thanks for sharing mate. Take care and all the best. 👍✌😎

Where Fortune Smiles. I think I remember that lp title. Surman or McLaughlin I guess. Anyway loved your attitude. And, do you know that the great bridge engineer in Porto here, Edgar Cardoso, did not trust calculations either? For him, only models he would work on in first place. He designed many bridges that way. If you come to Porto I will show you a couple of them.

Thank you, and no there’s no deadline. This will be running for a long time. So start when you can, or finish one and do another!

Thanks, its my first archtop and wasn’t too sure about the height of the bridge. I guess we’ll find out if works later!

Catching up. Use what you’ve got.. ok, what if you don’t have a nice 😋 convenient #7 plane?

You could use 80grit paper on a long beam (eg spirit level). It’s a bit slower but would work.

@@KingBespokeCreations it would take longer than drilling that cavity out - I didn’t envy you there! My arms aren’t up to the sanding beam, which in any case would also sand the fake bridge unless paper was only attached in the rough area where the plane iron would sit.

@@paulneeds that’s what I would do. Leave the area on the bridge. In the same way as filing the drop off with the fret levelling

Problem solving 101: look at it in a different way. This helps ease a bit of the fear that can creep into a build when you wonder if you’re maths aren’t up to snuff. Enjoy that coffee, and the friendly challenge you’ve all undertaken. I’m off to see what we’ve got in the shop.
