How to Get the Mott-Schottky Graph Plot in Origin

In this video you will come to know how to get the Mott-Schottky plot in Origin software from the raw data file obtained from the CH Instruments Electrochemical Workstation (CHI 660E), using Excel.
Here, the formula which is used to calculate the 1/Cs2 value from the raw data has also been told. If you use the formula please do cite the article, 'A. Sarkar et al., Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys. 2016, 18, 26900-26912.'

Excellent demonstration Ayan da, it's really helpful. I just want to know few things. First of all what should I do first? Impedance AC or impedance potential in chi instruments? What information do we get from impedance AC and how to use it while doing impedance potential? How to decide what potential is suitable for my material while running impedance potential? Finally, how to calculate the conduction band potential from Mott Schottky diagram? Please answer my questions, I am in the middle of my paper and I need to calculate the valence band and conduction band potential of my CuO nanocrystal.

Hello sir, I am really thankful to u after seeing this video. I have been searching this from last few days and finally I got it. Although u explained everything explicitly, still I am facing some issues while plotting Mott Schottkey. There are few question below that I want u to entertain: 1) how did u get the potential column from empedence data, rather it was supposed to give frequency column? 2) If I run CV experiment to get the potential column, still I wont be able to plot MS as CV has not given the same no data as empedence required? 3) do I need to run any other experiment before EIS? I would like to request you to please make me clear.

Thank you Sir for the informative video. V_NHEorRHE = V_Ag/AgCl + 0.059*pH + E0_Ag/AgCl (0.197 V for saturated aq. KCl). For this conversion how do we get V_Ag/AgCl and ph values. Will they be provided along with the raw data Sir

Generally, in a three-electrode setup, the potential is measured against the reference electrode. If you are using an Ag/AgCl reference electrode, then the potential will be measured vs. Ag/AgCl. You have to measure the pH value of the electrolyte separately using a pH meter.

p-type semiconductors give a negative slope, while the n-type semiconductors give a positive slope at the depletion region.

I wonder if the linear frequency value "5000" is a fix value or it depends on the system ? And how could we know that value ? Is it on the raw data files ? Thanks a lot for reading my question !

You have to set the frequency while you perform the experiment. Please note that the frequency should atleast be 1 kHz.

Why on the ecxel your fomular is (1/C^2)/10^9 but the unit is F^-2*10^9.

To know how to obtain the carrier density, you may read the following papers: Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys.,2016, 18, 26900-26912. ACS Sustainable Chem.Eng., 2016, 4, 5693-5702. Although, the position of valence band can be estimated from valence band XPS, quite precisely, still you may use the concept of the flat band potential to determine either valence (for p-type) or conduction band (n-type) edges. Apart from the aforementioned papers, I'll request you to read the following papers. J. Phys. Chem. C, 2017, 121, 25705-25717 and Nanotechnology, 2017, 28, 325401.

Hi we are using a CHI 608E. When we are doing the Mott-Schottky analysis I am getting some parameters like Slp, Ufb, etc. Can you help me interpret these?

Actually, Slp means slope, Ufb means the flat band potential. Please watch the video on the Mott-Schottky measurement in my channel (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SXhvDR9PiPE.html ). However, I would suggest you not to use those values for determining carrier density as well as the flat band potential. The values must be found by yourself later. Please don't forget to subscribe this channel as you can understand it is really difficult for channels like this to acquire subscribers.

Cor may be the correlation coefficient, which probably signifies the accuracy of fitting with the experimental results. For n-type semiconductors, generally, the flat band potential represents the conduction band edge. However, for p-type semiconductors, it is said that the valence band edge is positioned 0.1-0.2 eV below the flat band.
