the whole trend of exposing what celebrities look like without makeup actually scared me away from wearing too much makeup daily. ppl are cruel af. i've made the choice to get people accustomed to what i look like without makeup & reserve the heavy madeup look for special occasions (and have ppl be wow-ed by that) because one of my biggest fears is having someone say, “euw that's what you look like without makeup?” anyone else like this? interesting video as always, thank you 🫶🏼
One of my best friends likes to go on a first date wearing little to no makeup, because after that, she thinks her looks will just go up after that 😂 She is pretty btw..
Yeah same! I think as a society, we've gotten so far away from the purpose of makeup (to enhance, not to overtake). I never was the type to have a 'beat face,' but I am slowly taking away parts of my makeup routine in mind of this.
I think its somehow related to what we call female or male gaze, we as females follow the beauty trends for women and now its trendy to have hollow cheeks, men instead only follow what they biologically like in women and their taste wont change with trends. What i mean is that men and women have different ideas of female beauty (male beauty too but now i tall about female), something can be trendy but not attractive for the other gender and the opposite, an example is that we as women usually prefer a modelesque look in women but men usually choose girls next door as the most attractive, another example is the ultra skinny models in the 90', we wanted to have that super thin body but men kept prefering curvy bodies
The chubby cheeks that he's talking about is not the cheeks of someone whose overweight. In Runway Modelling they prefer models with hallow cheeks ‘cause it's extremely contouring their faces but it's not necessary to be beautiful, just maintaining a healthy weight by being lean will reveal our facial bone structures underneath that determines whether someone has good genetics and well physical development (high cheekbones is the most desirable btw) and for young people, despite being lean, they still naturally have buccal fats that comes with them still being young and that's the “chubby cheeks” that's his pointing out.
A strong bone structure, in general for both men & women like higher cheek bones which create at times hollowing effect, along side a stronger jaw, with more symmetry biologically sends subconscious signals of better health. Though fuller cheeks are often associated with youth and that is also a sign of more fertile , and possibly more healthy not necessarily heavy.
@@Ashley-km4qi Because they are indeed young but it requires a very well developed facial bone structures and some other facial traits like proportions ( or some are sometimes very underweight or some got buccal fat removal surgery) that gives them that look, he has a videos about cheekbones that explains this, not all people have high cheekbones also. For most people that aren't a model, it's not necessarily and it's normal to have buccal fats especially when you're young.
Danielle Jonas is an ethereal beauty in my opinion. She looks like a cute elf/fairy. She’s not conventionally beautiful, but she has a very unique look.
Great video as usual. Just a quick request, could you make an analysis on Idris Elba; he appears really attractive but seems to miss a prominent jaw and defined Jawline which is crucial for men especially.
It would certainly apply to steroids but not the regular gym goer. The muscles demonstrate an honest indicator to build muscle. However, the gym bros get a points off when they go past the athlete build (most women's preference) and into the bodybuilding look (looks unnatural).
Jennifer Connelly was sooooo beautiful in her younger years !! Just stunning 🤩 I wish she would soften her eyebrows now though because she’s lost volume from her face which now has more angular definition and gives her a hard , harsh look in combination with her super strong , bold brows.
@@stephi6792 First of all, if you don’t appreciate feedback pointing out misinformation, this is clearly not intended for you. Secondly, there’s no need to be sarcastic. What are you trying to achieve through that? 🤷♀️
@@stephi6792 "Not reading all that crap", still takes the time to type out two of the cringest sentences I've seen in a good while. You're such a drag.
I always sport natural look because for some reason deep down I believe if I use make up I'd need more make up because I'd be experiencing break outs (chemicals in make up products) so for this reason I rarely wear any make up. as for plastic surgey I find that its deception like you didnt have those features and so you cheated your way in. Make up can be cheating if you look like a whole different person without it but when used moderately it enhances the natural features. Edit : cosmetic procedures for reconstructive purposes and braces dont count in the plastic surgery as cheating. It's those fillers, botox, injections that people deny having and create an illusion of being naturally pretty.
the thing about plastic surgery for me is the commitment/permanence: what if i regret it after i decide i don't like looking at a stranger in the mirror when i brush my teeth?
How is plastic surgery “cheating your way in” if the features you are born with aren’t something you have to work for? Sounds like gatekeeping. This whole channel is about being treated better in life bc you are attractive. If you need plastic surgery to get to that level, there is nothing wrong in getting it.
@@marbleqt it is cheating. If makeup can be considered cheating then plastic surgery is cheating too. You didn't have those features and now you got those because you got plastic surgery.
@@marbleqt plastic surgery is NOT natural Make up enhances what's natural. The argument isn't about pro or anti plastic surgery. I didn't state my opinions on that.
my undereyes suck .theyre not puffy or baggy but just dark . im pale so the contrast is too obvious and it makes my eyes look sunken. had it not been for my undereyes id stop wearing concealer since i dont use foundation either. i do dots and dabs here and there but my main issue is concealing the undereyes.
Hi QOVES can u talk about Korean Actors Like Gong Yoo also from squid game, or Cha Eunwoo from Astro? I've never seen u talking about east asian male before
unfortunately my brows are more like Mona Lisa - no existent lol. ( i have like 6 hairs on each eyebrow 😭) Ive never been good at make up so i dont tend to wear it BUT i do grab a thick black coal pencil and always draw on my eyebrows. Its not great but better than having none!
My ex gf is just like this... but she wore them confidently without any shading or anything...and pulled it off perfectly. I don't know if it's her confidence or she's just pretty which made her draw attention away from her little eyebrows. I guess ask a friend who cares about you and figure out a way to draw attention from your eyebrows to your other best features. Cause now that I think about it, she had an amazing smile and a cute laugh
@@chalidem that’s good for her, I don’t think I’d be as confident to do that, I personally feel it looks better with mine drawn on, but like you say, she probably looked pretty without them and could pull that look off.
@@Gingeryrezfdd I thought that was just for your scalp? So minoxidil acts like a steroid and also means the moment I stop is, the new hair will fall out. If you start it, you’re on it for life really, which is something I wouldn’t want
Guys I am trying to improve my face from ugly to petty and guess what? My mom saw me trying to do many skin care and she clearly said a crow can't be a peacock 😂
Step one: be yourself Step two: fuck patriarchal beauty standards Example: back then big noses were the beauty standard. Beauty is a social construct. Boycott beauty standards!
People should go on dates without makeup or beards. That way they both have the based canvas of what they are getting into. Obviously this is really superficial without taking into consideration personality and other aspects.
some constructive criticism : a little more pauses in the video would slow the pace down because I for example feel a little stressed because you keep talking and it kinda feels like ur running out of air
Keyhole in between lips is natural….no. I’m a medical professional and this is a lip filler trick made with string. The lips close for FUNCTION not open at the center for natural beauty. I use to love this site but you’re reaching on quite a bit. Also, there was a vid of someone painting fake freckles….this is natural? No, not unless you were born with them. You didn’t understand the assignment.
Centerfold model measurements (36D-24-34 ish) and beautiful faces are actual 'status symbols,' with regards to this video! Why? Nearly every female can grow nice-looking long hair and most people have a nearly perfect complexion! Therefore, THESE features are common - NOT LUXURY ITEMS! The 'high end luxury features' are more extraordinary and powerful, and NOT common. Think Ford versus Ferrari.
I’m glad someone finally said it . Natural beauty is this certain look , not just anyone who doesn’t wear makeup . The whole point of a natural beauty is you naturally have features like clear skin, full eyebrows , full lips , and moderate proportions.
Another indicator is how different someone looks without makeup to with. Less things to change, less difference. Also, doing the same type of makeup as others, and exaggerating the same things, can make someone with natural beauty look worse as their features would be over-exaggerated
most of the things you mentioned are just subjective preferences. people who have none of those can be more beautiful than those who have all and vice versa. it all depends on the current societal trends and individual preferences
Step1: Tint/shape brows Step2: Have a skinny face Step3: Strong cheekbones and jaw Step4: Facial harmony and proportions Step5: Tiny moles and freckles Step6: Natural toned pink lips Step7: High arched brows and genetically gifted bone structure Step8: Proportionate doe eyes
I do want to point out that every picture he showed for "natuarlly pretty" still had atleast 5 makeup products on their face!!! He's not saying the "naturally pretty effect" means they're actually not wearing makeup.
@@zvezdoblyat well no, the video is literally titled "how to get blah blah features" so they could, or could not be natural since you can "get them" yourself even if youre not born with them. he's just talking about the "look"
@@anushkaverma2203 yes lol, he's talking about how to get the look, but the photos of the beautiful people are there to illustrate the features that they have naturally. I don't think anyone shown has had an eyebrow hair transplant or something. They are naturally pretty, the makeup is there too enhance what is already there
yup, when i was younger i didnt realise WHY i loved how my eyebrows looked when i dyed my hair blonde, the contrast was so insane and made my eyebrows really pop!
I was teased for my brows when I was in highschool but I feel like grooming and growing into them now they look great at 26. I would rather have more eyebrows than less🤷🏻♀️
Not exactly. Tinted, dark, defined eyebrows are a sign of beauty but thick brows look masculine and heavy. People always use the example of extremely feminine, soft faces to make a case for heavy brows but they don't realize most women don't have this same advantsge and will look worse with them.
@@AnaSchultz-kx9tq i'd say that there isn't really ONE way to be beautiful, it depends on how everything comes together. masculine features look good in some girls and in some they don't. in my experience, most people that have thin brows don't look really good at all to me. i guess that it also depends on what one defines as thin brows.
i have met several people from different nationalities that have a very clear, non texture skin, it is amazing. And some of them, like one friend doesn't even use moistourizer
Disagree. You can be born rich or acquire richness too to become beautiful. So many kpop idols are originally ugly but their company make good plastic surgery decisions.
This was a great video! I loved the incorporation of class and social commentary as I think beauty is often inextricably linked to societal standards for a variety of reason. I also appreciated the inclusion of makeup and surgery into the analysis. Well done!
I’ve been looking worse in makeup since I was like in my early 20’s. Now it’s just lipstick or lipgloss, occasionally eyebrow pencil. And tinted sunscreen sometimes. I encourage all women to try it! 😀 (I’m 44 now, but look significantly younger. I happen to be born with great genes for skin… & hair 😂)
that's great! I think a good lip colour makes a person look healthy, like the opposite of wearing concealer on your lips for actors to look sick. My favourite part of makeup is drawing eyebrows with pencil because part of my brows were torn out... People gifted with nice eyebrows only need to brush it with a spooly.
Obviously? The issue there is that the only way to know is to ask for their medical history, particularly if it looks outlandish. Or take a geez at the parents and see if it checks out.
Ofc. But given the terrible consequences, prices and mental toll of surgery, it’s a very sad case. I say this bc I got plastic surgery and went through so much🥲I regret not loving myself.
A "key hole" pout is not something you really want if you want to be aesthetically beautiful in the long run. Because when you do not have a lip seal it causes mouth breathing. Mouth breathing actually causes the face to become elongated and out of proportion. Also it will cause dental rot. This sort of thing happens as a result of bad plastic surgery, and if you're a plastic surgeon doing it deliberately that's unethical.
Kat Deluna is one of those women who are thin, but has a fat face. She’s stunning but I’ve never seen a fat distribution like that, especially on a dancer.
As a Korean-American woman, I’m very much into skincare. However, I also like using makeup to change my look depending on my mood, outfit, etc.. Though I have nothing against those who do plastic surgery, I personally wouldn’t do it because of the cost, pain, and health risks. My definition of natural beauty is someone with minimal makeup, balanced facial features, and a proportionate body.
Typical centerfold model measurements (36Dish- 24ish-34ish) and gorgeous faces are the actual 'status symbols,' with regards to this video. Hair and skin are NOT the 'status symbols.' Why is that? Most females, including prepubescent females, can EASILY grow long nice-looking hair. Which means it's common - not special. Same with skin. Most people have nearly perfect complexions. Which means it's common, and not a "special" feature. What IS special (not common or ordinary)? Idealistic measurements of iconic centerfolds/bombshells and naturally gorgeous faces (naturally meaning NO cosmetic surgery, as stated in this video). These two features are special - especially if you didn't have to work at it to attain it. Sorry to be blunt, but normal hair and skin are standard features. The body/shape/size of iconic centerfold models and surgery-free gorgeous faces are the luxury features. Think Ford versus Ferrari the way guys in the locker rooms...
@@infinitesalsa4422it’d obviously be about facial proportions & good grooming. No such thing as real or fake men, if you’re a man if u have dingleberries Fck social gender expectations (Taking a dig a ppl like u)
what is the explanation of why general skin harmony/ evenness in color and tone is important for attractiveness, but also redness from blush can also be attractive? what does this mean for naturally red cheeks? is it dependent on other circumstances what would and wouldn’t be attractive?
Skin smoothness and even-ness gives the appearance of youth and good health. The blush gives the appearance of vitality and also good health. After all, only people who are really sick have no visible blood in their skin, so the blush (when done naturally) looks like someone is just brimming with health. Of course this is only for people whose tone skin will show that color. I'm black but my skin gets very red on certain parts of my body. I'm not convinced that wearing blush would look natural on my face though
Essential Key points: 00:05: Eyebrows are important for natural beauty. 01:56: Bone structure and facial leanness can affect the amount of makeup needed. 03:49: Natural beauty emphasizes facial proportions and imperfections 05:49: Natural beauty look is achieved with minimal makeup and lack of lip tones 07:39: The natural beauty look is appealing due to the reliance on genetic features rather than makeup. 09:38: The Natural Beauty look embraces the natural eye shape. 11:32: Ethereal looks describe something that doesn't seem real and is captured by facial proportions and features. 13:30: The Natural Beauty look focuses on enhancing natural features.
Summary, if you were born ugly, you are kinda fucked :D Except nobody wanna fuck you XD Just kidding, I think this video is stupid. Always remember the phrase that BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER :)
Dental facial growth is more than genetics. Bone is not static, it changes over the course of a lifetime depending on the stimulus applied. Also, hormones have a part to play, which is manipulated by the environment, i.e. many men today have aa weak jaw and high cheekbones due to elevated estrogen in the western world.
I see you’ve stepped in to Kibbe Essences . You’re knowledge of aesthetics is amazing . Would you be able to put Maslow’s heirarchy of aesthetic needs ?
A bit off topic, but i’m very thankful that there’s an increase in showcasing attractive black/unambiguous african models and faces! I was kind of concerned about how these videos tend to have a lot more caucasian representations… I know QOVES tries to demonstrate beauty from all ethnicities - but it almost seemed at one point it was 90% caucasian, other 10% other ethnicities (who are often ambiguous). This representation does matter, and I’m glad there’s progress! I’m aware that it’s probably most easiest to find caucasian models as that’s the most readily available online, yet I’m hoping to see many more south asian and indigenous beauties too!
I’m white and love seeing black hair styles. I never would expect all hair sites to show braids, relaxing or wigs. Why not just go to another site? Everything on RU-vid or insta cannot be completely race inclusive. I love flipping around for educational purposes. One cannot be good at everything. With peace!
@@lorihunt50 i agree, there are other platforms where I can modify my feed to just that (pinterest and instagram for example), yet I meant this exposure is important for the wider public. I feel like it increases exposure in terms of what we see as ‘beautiful’/ attractive and seeing more different types of faces will help with our perception being a bit more objective rather than wholly cultural due to the biases we have innately 🫶🏾
@@lorihunt50This isn't a discussion about being good at everything, it's about dropping more images of people of other races. This is a beauty channel that specifically comments on facial features, so naturally, it would make sense to display beautiful people internationally because if not, that assumes that one single group or region has pretty people or good features. Hair sites is bloody broad. Facial aesthetics & features is not and goes hand in hand with regions (our ancestors literally developed their facial features as a result of the regions they grew up in). "Why not go to another site" is the social media equivalent of telling someone to just leave their dystopian country. Why should they? Why should they be forced to leave and not criticize because of other people's incompetence or misinformation.
I don’t think you can judge the shape without taking the face into consideration. Close set eyes look better on heart shaped faces for example. Some shapes might be more forgiving I suppose. So maybe something in the middle
@@starrisesky Heart shape is also attractive but oval is desirable especially for women ‘cause it is the most proportional face shape. If someone has an oval face shape all types of hair and jewelry style suits them ‘cause the shape of their face is proportional.
