What’s the craziest travel transport you’ve ever experienced? We have a handful of wild stories including driving on The World’s Most Dangerous Road in Bolivia and crossing from Big Corn to Little Corn Islands in Nicaragua - my stomach is hurting just thinking of that boat ride! Hope you enjoyed the video and that it helps you when making your transport decision to Puerto Escondido!
I drove from a Jerry Garcia Band show(with Merl Saunders and Jorma Kaukonen no less ) from French's Camp south of Garberville to Stinson Beach on Highway 1... on three hits of purple microdot listening to my friends black labrador retriever tell me stories of the time he was on The Tonight Show and how Carson was a great guy, treated him well... all the while believing I was playing a video game where if I didn't keep the double yellow line close to the left side of the Ford LTD I'd lose my last life by going over a cliff that was on the far right side of the yellow....
The worst bus ride for me, from somewhere in Chiapas to Guatemala City. Ugh😪 It was an experience. Not an ADO bus, it was like 10th class, livestock permitted on bus. NO a/c, no movies put plenty to look at😁😅🤣😂 and smell.
Thanks so much Momma!!! It was. A delicious breakfast but some Vodka sauce of Ziti would have been lovely too! We appreciate you watching us! The beach is so beautiful here! We love and miss you too!
I can’t get enough of these two! I appreciate these videos so much. As someone who likes to travel alone, these videos give such great information to ease the anxiety of the unknown. Thank you Adam and Heidi for all the tips and for continuing to be so dang adorable!!
Thanks so much Bren! We appreciate you so much! Our goal is to help and inspire travels to find and explore new places and experiences. It’s our pleasure! We love to help fellow travelers and country collectors! It was an experience for sure and hopefully one that will help other people to have a pleasant ride! Thank you for watching, lots more is coming!
That was a nice touch that you gave an example of the supplies that you were bringing with you. Metal detector on the way in the bus and video of your faces. That's some serious security. I took a bus from Tucson to Miami one time. I feel your pain. Glad to hear it was worth it.
Thank you so much! It was quite the journey but far from our longest or hardest! It was interesting for sure. They were metal detecting 3 year olds too! It was definitely worth it. Thanks for watching!
@@TheCountryCollectors bought the van but won't build it out till summer time...miss vlogging down in Mexico 🇲🇽 and especially the weather...look forward to your videos though 👍😎👣
You are always welcome to come back! It’s such a great temp right now. Laying on an outdoor couch am looking at the ocean. What’s stopping you from coming back?
Two summers ago, I took the bus from Oaxaca to Pto Escondido. I still remember the sound of the bus going through those winding roads in the mountains. Quite an experience to say the least 😳😄
You guys deserved that breakfast! What a journey. That looked like a tough one. Its so great that you are making these videos to help fellow travelers! Seems like some very valuable info to be sharing. Thank you for doing this!
Thank you! The breakfast was the best part after the beach! We are happy that we could be of help! It’s always nice to have as much info as possible when traveling. We are glad that you enjoyed! Stay tuned for more!
You 2 are quite a pair! What a tough trip but it looks like it was worth it! That beach looked perfect! It’s funny they put up those barriers between you but Good effort! Keep these videos coming!
The beach is worth it! And thanks for saying so! We are a great team! The barriers we a huge inconvenience but we didn’t get covid so that’s something! More videos are on the way! Stay tuned and thanks for watching!

I'm surprised how big and clean the bus station is. And the bus is modern with usb plugs....free wifi, too? I couldn't imagine sleeping with the mask. Shout out to both of you for taking this trip! And the beach...wow!
I am not sure about the wifi, I didn't even check! I was too concerned with staying in my seat lol. Thank you. It was not an easy one, but we were rewarded for sure! 🌟
Wow!!! What a ride! You 2 really find the best deals! I’m not sure I could have done that one! It’s good to see that they took precautions for covid. And that beach!!!! I see why you went. Thank you taking us with you! If we ever go there we are definitely going to fly!!!!! Can’t wait to see some beach videos!
Thanks for sharing this informative video! The bus station is spacious! And yes, the beach is so beautiful! Thanks for the advice of not getting the bus, haha.
Our pleasure! So glad we could help! It’s always great to be able to share our experiences with fellow travelers and country collectors. Especially when it’s a tough journey, info in advance can make all the difference. The beach is lovely here too! Puerto Escondido is worth the trip! Stay tuned and subscribe for more fun travel tips and adventures!
Thank you so much! Oaxaca is one of our favorite places in the world! The food, people, culture and art are wonderful! It’s a truly magical place! Sounds like a great place for a honey moon! Did you got to Casa Oaxaca!? It was one of our favorite restaurants.
Thank you so much. It was a little nerve racking. But we made it and we are happy to be here! It’s always a pleasure to share travel tips and experience with fellow Country Collectors!
The way you explain how the trip is going to be at the beginning of the video is not so encouraging but afterward you say it was definitely worth it. I'm glad it all worked out.
We prefer to be more prepared mentally and have be easier than thinks it’s going to be a breeze and have it turn out to be hell! Hope for the best and prepare for the worst! It was a tough journey but worth the effort!!!
Thank you Costa! We appreciate you! It was a tough one. The pills and liquid were a huge help though. Next time we will fly for sure! Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more!
Wow I cry when I have to be on the road for up to 5hrs!😅 And that is the most I have done! Great job! And I still enjoyed watching every minute of your journey. Thanks for sharing!
Toilet paper 🧻 a must 😄. Definitely a warm clothing. Do you both speak Spanish ? Haha your comment about the music ! You made it ! You deserve your breakfast and this beautiful beach. I travelled by bus from Paris to London when I was younger and I didn’t like it to much. Not very comfortable but it can be fun and especially if you have some time ahead. Big thumb up.
You know it!!! Toilet paper is in our top 3 must haves for travel! Thanks for watching! The music was a little over the top! Lol 😂. We did make it and it was worth it! Sometimes a rough journey makes the destination even better! Paris to London! That sounds like a tough journey too. But you are right. With enough preparation and correct mindset you can make almost anything work! We really appreciate you and the support! Please stay tuned and subscribe for more fun adventures!!!
You deserve 2 thumbs up! My craziest transport story comes from Bolivia! A small group and I were travelling up a mountain in the back of a pick up truck. Winding roads, goats and coming so close to the edge we thought we were going to die, and not just once. We laughed and cried the whole time, approx 2 hours one way. But it was worth every tear because the locals who lived in this remote mountain village welcomed us with song and quinoa. I also had some similar experiences when living in Colombia travelling by bus to Bogotá through mountains. One driver was so fast around corners that someone threw up a few rows behind me. So, goo and bad memories, lol. So glad you did this vlog- good to know what to expect! Thanks Heidi and Adam 🥰🙏
lol oh yes we have those stories too! Omg in Bolivia we took a taxi from La Paz to our accommodations in the mountains and we had to drive on the WORLDS MOST DANGEROUS ROAD. It was crazy - did you do that? People bike down it too! Saw a bunch of people wipe out, and some even die going off the edge. A little too risky for my liking!
@@TheCountryCollectors I’m not sure if I was on that road- possibly. I had terrible altitude sickness in La Paz, actually sick in all 3 cities I travelled to so on travel days I was usually out of it 😞
Love you guys so much. I'm planning on a trip with my family of six there because of the food especially then everything other beautiful sight bc you two are so helpful and inspiring 👏💗
That was some journey. I used to take the Greyhound a bit when I was younger - yuck I have to say I really don’t like the bus. That beach looks amazing! Enjoy!
Hi friends. The overnight ride can be a great ride-especially if you have motion sickness tablets and can catch some Zs while you ride. Sorry you weren't really able to get good sleep. Glad you finally made it. The pancakes look incredible. We don't have a story quite like yours. But we do have some videos you would enjoy. Come check them out when you get a chance.
Sounds great! We would love too! It’s always great to meet fellow Travelers! The pancakes were delicious. It’s called the grand slam if you ever get there. 3 pancakes, 3 eggs, 3 bacon 🥓 , potatoes and fruit for 100 pasos!!! Totally worth the ride!!!
@@TheCountryCollectors You guys are awesome! That breakfast plate, though. I don't know how you can function after that. I would have to put my day on hold while I took a nap before being able to get started!
At the dope granny accessories store of course! Just kidding! They sell them right in the convenience store at the bus station! It was a great buy! We paid 8 dollars for it and it made a world of difference on that’s overnight bus! Also clips right to the outside of your bag for easy transport! Thanks for watching and stay tuned for more!
Thanks for the preview, I'm taking the bus next week! I have a video on my channel about taking the ferry from Bari, Italy, to Dubrovnik that has been viewed a lot.
Thanks so much for watching Beanster! You can do it! I think videos like this are popular because they like to see people suffer! It was tough but worth it!
I felt so relieved for you when you finally made it to puerto escondido!! Lol. Rough night. That will be us very soon. We’re taking an overnight bus to Oaxaca city soon and then hopefully make our way over to puerto Escondido... btw, how’s the internet in PE? Do you plan on staying there a while?
Thank you for watching! We were relieved too! There is nothing in the terminal in PE. It’s right next to Rinconada! Good Luck with your journey! Maybe we will see you around town! Stay tuned for more fun adventures with us!
The internet is so so! It really depends where you are. We have a video about the best internet in PE. It’s a fun one worth a watch and there are baby turtles too!
Thx for the detailed review of this trip. My wife and I during our last stay in Huatulco/Puerto Escondido had been talking about taking the bus there on our next trip. We had heard from a couple people it was brutal, now I'm a believer! I unfortunately get motion sick so looks like it's fly or pass lol.. You may have just saved me from hours of misery :)
Back in 1980 I travelled through the US by Greyhound for a month. Greyhound had a deal for Canadians where you could travel for a month for $99.00. It was there way of thanking Canadians for getting the US personnel out of Iran. I was 20 at the time. It was probably the craziest month of my life. I don't know how many times I had to talk my way out of getting beaten up. I travelled with a guy that just got out of San Quentin for murder. I had a gun pulled on me. I got run out of Tucson by a couple of deputies, just because I had long hair at the time. The list goes on and on. Sleep was the least of my problems, but it was a big part of making me who I am today.
Wow! What a deal! I have never had that problem with the long hair as I don’t have any!!!! Sounds like quite an adventure you had. Something you could write a book about I’m sure! And a quick tounge is essential for getting out of jams! You never know when something or someone might come up or at you. I have never had a murderer as a travel companion...that I know of but if he did his time I guess it’s all good. Travel heals the soul and makes us strong. It’s something everyone should try at least once. And it isn’t always pretty. I have been in riots in ecuador, lost in the jungle in Costa Rica, almost kidnapped in South Africa, run for my life Hondoras and so many more. And it is for sure the reason I am who I am today. Thanks for watching and for the comment! Stay tuned for more travel adventures!
Hi guys! What a fun busride! We have experienced a busride too from Belgium going to Paris(back and forth). It was really crazy coz when we want to get back to Belgium, the busdriver didnt let us in the bus coz he thought we were not Belgians coz we look like Asians 🙈. He said we should have a visa. But we don need visa's coz we had our Belgian ID's and passport 🙄. So we had to book another trip again. It was so unfair! We should have complained to the customer service, but we didnt. We liked the bus experience though. Your experience was awesome, you had a huge delicious breakfast and a awesome tropical beach view. Would have done the same 🤩 Enjoy guys!
What!! That is absolutely ridiculous, I am so sorry you had to experience that racism. I would have called the bus company and had a few not so nice words to share with them. That makes me really mad! What an ignorant person.
@@TheCountryCollectors yeah i know right. We were supposed to file a complaint to that busdriver, but we were so busy we totally forgot about it. We could remember that night i think we called the customer service of the bus company but they were so hard to talk to, they would not accept that their busdriver did that to us so we just gave up and booked another trip coz we were so tired.
So far so good!!! No covid yet! They checked temperatures, sanitized us all and made us wear our masks the whole time. And trust me, it’s great to be able to brush your teeth after you puke especially when your on an 11 hour bus ride and the water is non potable! Thanks for watching!
Our pleasure! Really hope it helped you out! It was a crazy night for sure! Stay tuned for more fun adventures with us and join our growing number of Country Collectors!
Thks again for making this. Reminds Me of my trip from Veracruz to Puebla. Another night time venture. But I’m thinking of starting in PE for 2-3 wks then Oaxaca city. Coming from the states I imagine it would be Mexico City then a flight to PE. ??what airlines fly within the country. ??
Ooo how was that trip? We have heard wonderful things! Yes, fly into Mexico City and ti Puerto Escondido. We flew Volaris from Puerto Escondido to Mexico City and it was great and very affordable. There are small charter flights from PE to Oaxaca City - I heard cost about $150, not sure how to find the contact though, maybe search online. The bus was pretty rough, but so worth it once we got there!
@@TheCountryCollectors puebla is pretty cool. You can take a local bus tour to see some of the 300+churches. I was in Veracruz close to el centro visiting my mex. friends. Don’t think I saw any American tourist. Mainly native tourist.
It Varies. Flights leave everyday. You can book the same day if there is availability but usually a week in advance. The plane ride was 3 times as much
My craziest must be when I wanted to try out an over night bus drive between provinces. Worst experience ever. The bus was infested with cockroaches, as soon as the lights dimmed in that bus it was party frenzy for those roaches. I didnt even get 1 min sleep in cause had to fight them off. Yea since then I never tried that again and sticked to flying lol
What the hell!! That sounds awful! Reminds me of the time we were in South Africa at a hostel and I woke up with something on my arm and they were cockroaches. And then there was the time in Thailand.. oooo 2 huge ones, size of my hands scurried down the bathroom drain.. Safe to say I slept in my sleeping bag pulled tight around my head lol.
I went to Puerto Escondido from Oaxaca in the large vans, I had a 7 month old with me and had the seats all the way in the back. I could not take nausea medicine because it make you drowsy and I had to care for the baby. It was rough
Oh my goodness Erandy - you are a trooper, that must have been very difficult. The sacrifices we make for our loved ones! I bet you didn’t do that again 😄 Thanks for sharing with us!
Not terribly. It was just long and windy. You should be fine. The Corona virus factor was a little intimidating we got here safe. It’s worth it for the beach you will find at the end!
I never take red eye air flights. I have taken red eye from Mexico City to a lot of places and they were ok. The buses are comfortable but of course I prefer to sleep in a bed.
I've taken the 2nd class bus to Pochutla (Puerto Ángel/Zipolite area) 3x, twice at night, and once during the day. This is back in the day though - early 2000s. Not sure if there's even a 2nd class bus still! Lol. But it was 8 hours, and very uncomfortable. The night rides were scary because it's so dark and twisty, and because the daytime ride (which I'd taken first), was exhilarating but terrifying and I already knew how dangerous it actually looks. Would I do it again? In a ❤beat! 😂
A PARTIR DE AGOSTO O SEPTIEMBRE DEL 2022 ENTRA EN FUNCIONAMIENTO LA AUTOPISTA OAXACA PUERTO ESCONDIDO Y ESTE TRAYECTO SE PODRÁ HACER EN 2 1/2 horas cuando mucho...NO DEJEN DE VISITAR HUATULCO O POCHUTLA ANTES DE LLEGAR A PUERTO ESCONDIDO.
Maybe next time! Thanks for the info. We are always happy to learn and share! We heard the bus was more stable and like to travel overnight when we can! Appreciate you.
Thank you so much! safety first and above all respect for the local laws and people. We all have to do our part! it was an experience for sure that was worth it in the end!
Craziest transport, 2 days from Donovan State prison to Solano Stae Prison, stopping at 6 prisons on the way, an overnight in Corcoran, 120 degree cell, chained on a bus with metal seats, dressed in a toilet paper thin orange jump suit and white boxers, flip flops, hand chained at the waist so you can barely scrath your nose...
Out of respect for all the others around us we prefer to leave our masks on. I know it is hard to hear, but it is something we feel is important and common courtesy.
Glad we could help you make the decision! It was a tough one but doable and ultimately worth it for the destination. If your heading to Puerto Escondido we have lots of fun and helpful videos!!! Travel Safe!
