In this video I share some tips for getting more unique lofi sounds from your SP devices. This is aimed mainly at the SP404-MK2 but it can be applied to other older SP devices too!

100% on the bus 3/4 workflow. One update I want is to have them function just like buses 1/2. It is strange why they made 3/4 for this way. I would understand if they wanted to create 1 global MFX this way but bus 1-4 should function the same.

Must've missed this when it was posted, great stuff. It actually inspired me to pull out the MK2 and actually get into making beats with it. The MPC workflow is too strong a pull 🤣 but was just messing around with this effects chain and 🔥 thanks for the inspiration!

Nice Combo. Would love to read more ideas of SP-users here! For me: I havnt had too much luck with stacking effects so far. But i use the cassettesim like crazy! It kinda has become my EQ-tool, i also like to spice up my snaires with it. Just sometimes i do cassettesim + crusher

My one tip is, always add noise/hiss at the very end. I recently put hiss on the first layer of a track and then resampled it with Ko-da-ma for drum variations, then realized I wanted less hiss but in order to change it I'd have to lose the unique Ko-da-ma sequence 😥

Agree with that! Hiss should always be at the end of the stack or completely separate. I usually record hiss to a pad then you can turn it off and on or change the level 👍

@@spvidz whats even cooler imo is just to record the whole beat on tape. The real thing But whats also very cool is when you record just your Drums on tape and let it drive a little bit over 0db. Tape will suck it in and give it back to you in such a nice compressed way. -then sample the Drums again and use it with a sample. I'm kind of collecting the drumresults after letting them run through tape, so i can grab them often and quickly.
