@@davidcoylejr.3967 Both....like ALL CarPlay. Pairs over Bluetooth, then everything after that is Wi-Fi. Which is why you get less lag and better audio quality than streaming over Bluetooth.
That's because he is getting paid by the company and if he actually showed how to use it nobody would buy it due to it being crap. Think about he has about 20-30 secs of him using it
Ok. You had me interested. My biggest regret with the Audi Q5 2019 was not having wireless CarPlay. I ordered this 10 days ago. It arrived with nice packaging. I installed it with the 2 simple steps and... It works as described! So easy to setup. It’s absolutely brilliant. Note: I’m on iOS 14 beta and had no issues. Thanks a million!
I'm eagerly awaiting someone to do this for Android Auto. I'm going to get this for friends who ride in my car who have iPhone's, but I want something like this for myself.

Glad you were able to bring this opportunity to us.... But I personally think that paying $160 for this wireless device is way out of line....especially if "as you put it....Apple could brick (block) this device with a software upgrade. And then you are just out the money. So I am not willing to make that gamble.....until the price comes down to say max $50.
I know this is an expensive product, i think i paid around $150 for mine, but if apple released their own licensed version of this product I’d be totally cool paying $200 for one that i dont have to worry about being bricked in the future. My car is a 2017 with wired apple CarPlay and i usually have no problem with just plugging my phone in for it, but when my girlfriend uses my car and leaves her phone in her purse, this thing is perfect. Also makes it much easier for people in the back seat to use my connected phone for adding to the road trip playlist and just more convenient overall.
just some minced garlic I recommend trying to get a Bluetooth transmitter that you can find on bestbuy Amazon etc so what that does is basically puts a wireless signal out instead of connecting it to a phone charging cable you can find a Bluetooth transmitter online for around under $20 and the car2play adapter is basically just a Bluetooth receiver with an end that you can plug in wired if you wanted to and. And if you want to have wireless CarPlay I think you can just plug it in to a usb port to a head unit that supports Apple CarPlay and connect though the the Bluetooth transmitter like car2play
I bought this and while it does work, after about 8 minutes of audio playing it fades into static. It never recovers. Support tells me to wait for the next software update. We will see. Also, you cannot be connected to any other network (WiFi or Bluetooth) when you get into your car or it will not connect to your car. This is a bit of an inconvenience if your home WiFi extends to your driveway like mine does. It will result in longer startup time if you don’t disconnect from everything before you get into your vehicle.
I have one and I love it, since I have a wireless charging pad in my car make no sense plugging in the phone every time, now I just keep it in my pocket, because iPhone Pro is equipped with such a nice battery and if I need a charge just place it on the pad 👍🏼👍🏼
I have this adapter and LOVE it. Works great with my 2020 Honda CRV!! Great software support. I have gotten an update every week I’ve owned it. So easy and quick to install.They know they have to support it. Everything works perfectly. Part of what you’re paying for are all the software updates.
pam oakes good to hear. I have a civic (which is obviously the same head unit) so this makes me confident it would work in my car as well. Have you tried it with phone calls? A lot of the comments in here are talking about a big delay, wondering if it’s maybe specific to certain systems.
George K no delays with phone calls or maps for that matter. There is a second or two delay when changing music tracks. It’s nothing crazy and it feels normal now. I understand that BMWs wireless CarPlay is the same so there’s nothing wrong here. Just the diff between wired and wireless.
Still waiting for something to add CarPlay to a unit that doesn’t come with CarPlay from the factory. Bc I emailed that company and they said CarPlay needs to be factory installed for it to work.....
It’s not Apple‘s fault that wireless CarPlay doesn’t exist largely. It’s entirely up to the automobile manufacturer to make that possible. iPhones already support that natively and have for some time
absolutely agreed. it's a great opportunity to sell another fairly overpriced accessory - this time one I'd actually be willing to buy Apple's version of.
I have this and it is perfect. Works on my 2018 Audi perfectly and even on the aftermarket radio I put in my 2006 daily driver Audi. The only issue I’ve had is in the aftermarket radio if I shift into reverse and trigger the backup camera feature it can cause the paring to stumble a bit.
S. Jaymes it doesn’t stock, but a few years ago I replaced the factory unit with a JVC touchscreen unit that supports CarPlay. One of the best decisions I’ve made with that car.
Is the usb connection just for power, or is the device accessing your system via the usb? Does the c2air use the Audi’s built in microphone and sound system?
Kevin Izard it accesses the system, it mimics the phone being plugged in and does everything the phone would do including using the sound system and microphone. In the 2018 as long as it’s plugged in the car thinks the phone is in so every time I get out it says “your phone is still in the car”
I assume this only works if your vehicle comes with Apple car play from the factory? I have an older vehicle with an aftermarket Alpine head unit that must be wired to my iPhone...so I guess folks like me are SOL.
Works great for me HOWEVER, when it comes to calls be aware there is a big 2/3 second sound delay which for me made conversations impossible wirelessly. It’s a shame as that’s one of the key features of CarPlay. You’ll also have to get used to an ugly boot animation during start up. But these are small trade offs, if you get what you need out of it, it’s worth the price. Hopefully regular software updates may address this.
I bought this and ended up selling it. I got tired of the hiccups. Taking too long for the device to engage and sometimes getting just a black screen. I did everything that the manufacturer recommended. And still had problems. When it did work, it was fine. I went back to wired

What if your vehicle is a 2014 Silverado? A little too early for car play. Do I have to have car play first in my infotainment center before using this dongle? Or will it do car play if I don’t already have it?
I have one and it does work, but it has disconnected while driving and if you try to move the maps screen around your music can start getting glitchy. Last others that I am talking on the phone with complain that I sound like I am on an old Bluetooth device.
I tried it and it still doesn’t work with my Mazda CX 9 it works about 10% They keep telling me they’re going to fix it through software but it never happens I said I could return it but it’s a 25% restocking fee even if they sent me a new one
That’s why you use a credit card. Then you tell them they are refunding 100% of the purchase or else you’ll report it to your card issuer and get your money back, at which point the card issuer takes it back from them. Credit cards have all kinds of protections for reasons like this.
I currently use apple carplay in my car with USB cable, if I buy this gadget, would I manage to use it without the cable? My car is a Chevrolet Cruze 2018.
Honestly didn't have that great of an experience with Carplay2air but got a different one through bluetoothcarplay.com Ive had it about a week and honestly have no issues so far, their customer service team was great and responds quite quickly as well
Works with the Honda Civic but not the Accord? Also it is way too much for something that might not work in the future. Never had any issues with using the lightning cable since my phone holder uses the cup holder. Wiring is never in my way. Not worth getting in my opinion.
It works but Wast of time if you have in car wifi it connects by bluetooth then shifts over to wifi. So if you turn wireless car pay on your phone is a brick as you cant have both on wifi on CarPlay and use other apps unless you want to use phone data. Like maps and downloading music. Now if could stay connected over bluetooth you would have something.
Just received it. Works great but it does not connect via BT, it connects via WIFI, even tho you setup via Bluetooth. It knocked out my Verizon HUM WIFI ODB of which I have unlimited data. Now I'm back on LTE data with this. Company support is very good.
does the car already need to have car play? and this device just supplies the connection? my head unit in my 2018 nissan qashquai does not have car play in the unit , so will this create a car play scenario? thanks from australia.
Doesn’t seem to support anything older then a 2015...by then they come with wireless charging (if you get that through the package deal). Also, it says it must come with factory CarPlay? Meaning the aftermarket system I put in will not work even though it’s just seems like a plug and play device...:/

Carlinkit do USB dongles that have software and driver updates for the hardware I’m guessing with some more frequently. another way of having CarPlay in your car would be if for example you still have a CD player in your car but you have an android tablet if you pick up a CD player mount for your Android tablet that’s up to about 11 inches Connect it to the dongle via a USB C to USB A adapter you can also get CarPlay to work that way.
I have this. I’ve been using it for about 4 months on a Volvo S60. All controls (steering wheel, SIRI, etc) work normally. The only complaint I have is that it sometimes doesn’t connect automatically and shows “connection error” message. When that happens, I unplug it from the USB port and plug it back in. Otherwise, I was really impressed, because I wasn’t expecting it to work as well as it does.
Wired CarPlay would probably end up charging your phone faster than using a wireless charging pad in your car since the newer iPhones can be fast charger through the USB-C to Lightning cables
Looks good but when I looked at the price, wow! Is it worth that price to cut the cord and how safe is it to be wireless compared to being connected with the cord?
I DIY'd my wireless carplay by hiding away an old iphone plugged into the usb port and setup with my icloud so when its not connected to wifi it automatically starts my hotspot on my current phone and any call text comes through and maps and spotify work like i got my main phone plugged in.

I have one. While it works well in general after 20 firmware updates it still lags while using phone app. People hear me with on sec delay which is quite annoying. Maybe it's my head unit in Toyota 2019. but cable Airplay works fine
How’s the sound quality of music when using this wireless CarPlay? Also, can the automaker or Apple make their stock CarPlay wireless by a system update or is it a complete hardware replacement?
Can someone please help me install it in my 2018 Ford Escape which already has Carplay? I cannot get it to work. When I plug the dongle in, nothing shows on my car screen.
So Carplay is really just Miracast. Bluetooth is used to establish a connection, which then switches over to Direct Wifi. Doesn't mean any Miracast receiver would work, naturally, but that's the underlying tech. Personally I'm baffled it isn't standard wherever carplay is available, plus wireless charging. That's this tech done right.
Does it disconnect from CarPlay once you leave the car? Even though you stay near the car? That’s important for me as I use a headset when not inside the car. When the CarPlay stays connected when I am near the car I have to switch phone calls to the headset by hand which sucks.
I ordered this product in May. It still has not arrived. Every email I send, they say they are investigating. I would not order from them. it is a scam as far as I am concerned.
There is no installation. You just plug in the usb dongle, go to bluetooth settings in your phone, connect to the dongle and then everything goes on its own (the wireless connection is set up between dongle and the phone and carplay interface shows up on screen). One thing that is probably not stressed enough in the video: there are too type of adapters: for built in carplay systems (more expensive) and for android car systems (less expensive). The latter requires installing an android apk for carplay. The former should work out of box with car mentioned on the list. I bought the one for factory carplay systems and am using it in 2019 Peugeot -- works reasonably well (after upgrading it). Reasonably - from time to time there are a moments of jitter, while listening to music and once it was not connecting to the phone (required phone restart). But generally great -- don't have to plug my phone every time.

I was also suspicious that all the reviews on their site were perfect with the same kinds of English grammar errors. So I thought these reviews were fake. Can you test some of the other dongle's available on Amazon for half the price?
@@mathguy3801 Unfortunately, I cannot test the other dongle, since I'm not a tester, but just a user (don't have access neither to the other dongle, nor the car audio system based on Android, but only a factory one requiring the more expensive adapter).
If it was official from Apple I may pay $160 but since it’s not I don’t think it will be worth it for me. My power cords in the truck come out of the console and are neatly in place with magnetic clips. And sometimes I may want the faster corded charging anyways instead of the slower wireless charging.
