I am getting driving lessons in the state of NJ. I am age 41 driving with a probationary license, but early next year I'll be age 42. I'll get my first unrestricted basic NJ auto driver license good for four years after mid-April 2023. I'll call the NJ MVC to make sure I don't need an appointment to upgrade. Great video! Great info!
i just took the permit test 2 times last year and currently took the license exam and I felt stressed failing once for the last 5 or 6 months but I hope when I finish reading the handbook, study and review 11 written tests on android and youtube I can pass the knowledge test with no trouble at all.
Wow it was so much easier when i got my permit over 20 years ago in NY and then my license. I don’t think we had any of those hours restrictions. I barely practiced driving for 2 weeks and got my license. But with all the accidents today in cali im glad they are making it more strict.
Thank you for making this video! I'll be the first one to drive in my family, and I genuinely had no idea what to even expect for the license process. Just one question, what happens if you do not have anyone over the age of 25 to drive with you? Is there anyway to circumvent that or am I forced to resort to paying for a bunch of lessons?
I’m currently 17 and a half and I just got my permit, do after I complete the hours with the driving instructor and get the certificate do I still need to wait 6 months?
You would need to wait 6 months but you would not be required to get driver training. You can still get driver training if you think it will help you. I would recommend practicing before the road test.
You can if your name is on the agreement and you have proof from the rental car company that it is ok to use it for a test. Minors generally cannot rent a car for the test as you must be 25 to rent a car but some do rent to those who are 21-25 (small minority might allow 18 and up). This is quite common for international applicants as they generally come to California with a license from their home country and California does not have reciprocity with foreign countries. You can also rent a car from a driving school which is a little pricey but you get a short driving lesson before you get to the DMV.
