Hi there! I just wanted to say that the video you shared was really helpful. Unfortunately, as a freelancer who is just starting out, I don't have the funds to purchase connects. I've noticed that even though some clients view my proposals, they don't seem to be too impressed by my portfolio. I learned this from watching your video, which was very informative. I've since managed to build up my portfolio, but I'm running out of connects
Been applying but now my connects are gone. I don't even know if the www after my service method will work but gonna try that. Thank you for your insights Thomas.
those ghost job hurts the new comers most, because new comers usually starts with limited connects. now a days some job requires 14 connects which is a lot for a beginner
Is competition comparatively similar across the majority of freelancing domains? For example, I would assume freelance writing/copywriting has a tougher barrier to entry than social media marketing.
Hey Bro U gamer video editor on the i Your success is mine Bro 🔥 Jk love you. Your content is super inspirational and helpful! Just started looking for work on upwork today!
Hi Thomas! I'm starting my journey at Upwork right now. Been binge-watching your content since this morning. Curious, how much have you spent on connects? Do you have any suggestions how much budget should we prepare when starting out?
I've probably spent thousands But the budget depends on what you can afford. Also the cost of applying to jobs is different now from when I first started
Hi Thomas, there is a thing that's been holding me back from fully diving into Upwork is the hourly tracking system. I've heard it takes screenshots, which is great for individual work, but it poses challenges when collaborating with a team. How do you handle this aspect when working with a team? I'm in a similar boat, managing a team and occasionally making enhancements to their work. But with multiple people working on multiple projects simultaneously, the hourly tracking system seems impractical.
Thanks for the knowledge. Mind if we hop on a call for like an hour and you give a full analysis on mentoring me. I won't be a quitter and I am ready to make a change.
How do I identify the mistakes I'm making because, in my opinion, I've got a decent profile with a good portfolio. I'm not making any mistakes that you've mentioned. I've been on upwork for 2 months now but haven't landed a job yet. My proposals get viewed but there is no action after that.
You spent the bulk of the video breaking down a spam email instead of talking about how to get Upwork jobs (yeah I get you were trying to draw parallels about unprofessionalism but it was a huge who gives a shit)
I was trying to portray that in order to get jobs on upwork, you need to understand all the reasons why you aren't getting hired. And this was probably reasons 1, 2, and 3 out of 100.
Unfortunately I think you missed the lesson here. He’s drawing a parallel between his own experience with proposals to work for him and how this same issue of misspelling is such low hanging fruit that it should always be the first thing you correct.
