I love that you call out the "accidental" project manager. I'm not one, but I reckon I've done a LOT of project managing in my career (as a psychologist of all things!). So so true. Great tip!
Hi from UK, exceptional video. I’m a wind turbine engineer looking to get into PM within the company I work for ENERCON. I’m completing the application now and this has helped me SO MUCH! Specifically how to shape my day to day fixing turbines experience into valid PM experience I can state on application forms. Many thank yous. 🤗
I am thrilled that his video was so helpful! I also have a 45 min webinar that I think will benefit you. In this free training I walk you through the five key items needed on all projects, it's what I call the FAB FIVE FUNDAMENTALS OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT. The FAB FIVE are the 5 key items that you must do on every project - if you only do 5 things, these are them! It’s a great way to simplify projects, while still doing the essentials needed to ensure project success. Great explanation about thinking about your project experience from a different perspective - even considering school assignments. Great advice on how to start out in the project management field.
I work as an IT coordinator for a large company and I run alot of IT projects. Our organization doesn't really run projects according to PMI standards. I recently got my CAPM and I'm kind of fearful to apply for some of these Project Manager jobs out there. This is because I'm fearful of getting on the job and being completely lost. Any advice?
Congrats on getting your CAPM. You will need to be flexible with what you choose to use. Don’t be fearful. Remember these principles will help you. Check out my practical project management program as it compliments PMI and it will help you pick the right templates to use and when. www.slaypm.com
I have been running IT projects and Woodworking projects for my own LLC for over 4 years and I still cant seem to find a job in this.... Its been so discouraging.
@@AdrianaGirdler Thank you Adriana, its been a rough year for me. I lost my job and, while unemployed, took that time to get the Google Project Management Certification that was offered by the State. Also studying for the PMP. But not a single call yet.
@adeelchughtai515, don't give up! I am sure you will land something soon. Networking is a great way to get yourself out there. It's amazing to see the leads you can get by doing so. Hi Swapnil. There are many tools that are a requirement to know for project management. The WBS and Gantt chart are just a few. Check out my play list "Project Management" and there you will find videos about the above, what they are and how they are used. I also have a 45 min webinar that I think will benefit you.
