This worked on my 2013 Focus. The remote stoped working after I replaced the battery a year ago. Thanks for sharing. Saved me $140.00 Thats what the dealership wanted to charge. P.S. yes it took 2 trys.
Wow thanks a ton! I have a 2015 explorer, and never use this feature. I remember when I bought the car, the sales person showed me this feature. Ok….but I never use it…fast forward to this year.winter in Montana, I watch my son in-law remote start his car and let it warm up before his drive to work -8 deg f ….hey wait a min…I can do that too..I think….well everything I did would not work, so I searched for this problem on RU-vid ..and I found your channel……you saved the day…..I had to rewind and play a few times to see how you pushed the buttons but it was then that I saw what you did : 1. You locked and beeped the car, 2 you hit the start 2x 3. You locked the car again 4. You hit the start button 2x again and it started…..I never….ever would have done this….but i did exactly what you did and amazingly…….at 10 deg f… it started right up!….man…you are an American hero :)
Thanks so much for this video. Saved me a trip back to the dealer for my “new to me” 2018 Edge Titanium. The settings menu is different in these later models, however the remote/start button reset did the trick. Thanks again and Be Safe.
2012 Ford Edge SEL 2.0L Ecoboost. I took delivery of this used car 18 mos ago. The dealer couldn't get the remote starter to work and with summer coming it wasn't high on my priority list. Finally I got the remote start to work by watching this video. In Vehicle Settings the remote start was enabled. So I followed Step 2 of his instructions and VOILA it worked on the first try :) Thanks a million to ADD is multitasking
... and I have to add that it will not work if and when the engine wrench light comes on. It no doubt is a protection so as not to create further issues.
Of everything I looked at in the internet, this video was the only thing that mentioned three part about syncing while starting the car and that's what worked.. thanks!!
Great video... my girlfriend had her windshield replaced and they had to reprogram the sensors and recalibrate the car.....somehow that disabled the remote start. Starting the car and holding the remote start worked.... Thanks Again for the video !!!!
Beautiful it was the (settings) that I had unchecked the other day oops forgot (re checked) it and boom good to go saved me an early morning appointment thanks for your time ps 2018 worked the same
Thanks for the video as this reset worked on my 2019 FLEX the 1st time. The remote start stopped working after my vehicle was removed from the Ford Pass app. Thanks again!
@@addismultitasking3504hi, does it also work for 2008 ford explorer 4.0, after changing the transmission the alarm completely stop working, i bought a 4 button remote it works with but the original remote which has the remote start is not working at all. What should I do
I did the last step which was start 2x, lock, start 2x on my 2013 ford escape, it worked. Thank you so much!! Any advice on how tho get the fob to work with only pressing auto start 2x?
2018 ford escape . the remote start stopped working all of a sudden. I have done all the steps you mentioned, unfortunately it did not work. Is there any other suggestion you might have? Thanks
Thanks so much. Just picked up a 2019 F150, remote start wouldn't work. Your advice on syncing the remote by holding the button on the fob for 10 seconds after starting the truck did the trick.
Thanks my second hand 2016 ford fusion that I just bought would always flash red light and sometimes start and sometimes not. Sure enough second time in the car holding the start key like you show worked like a charm. Now it always flashes green. I think it is from the car being on a lot for a few years without being started. Just in case though I am replacing the battery as well
Thank you, that remote 10 second hold procedure did the trick on the First try! Saved us a trip to the dealership. BTW I have the twin to your Edge and really love it.
I have a fusion where you hit lock then hit it twice within 2 seconds to make the remote start work. How do you reset THAT kind? I don't have a actual remote start button.
I have a 2012 Edge SEL 3.5 with the dual analog gauges and key entry start. Not the keyless entry like this one. So I was skeptical. But It f**kin worked!! After a year of trying to figure this out. My remote start works now. I thought there was no way the brake pedal, starting and holding the button for 10 seconds is going to work. It did.
So I had this problem recently. Took my 2016 Ford Edge to the same Ford dealer where I bought it. Called me back to tell me that it needed a new battery and to reprogram the vehicle. Being a person who doesn't know nothing about cars, I told them to go ahead thinking it was gonna solve the problem. It didn't. So I asked what can I do. Girl told me that the key needs to be reprogrammed for about $145. At the same time, when I opened the driver door, I kept getting the "door ajar" signal. NONE of that got fixed and charged me $303.05 for it. Watching this video, not only I fixed the remote start on BOTH keys, but the "door ajar" signal went away. I will be going back tomorrow to have a serious conversation with the manager and to ask for my money back. And if you are reading this: 1.Remote key DO NOT need to get reprogram, it's a lie 2. Cars DO NOT need to be reprogram when replacing the battery. Car dealers are a bunch of rip-offs.
I've heard that same story a couple times dealers just think that everybody's stupid and they charge whatever they want... I'm glad the video helped you... By the way I don't call them dealers I call them Stealers
@@addismultitasking3504 Update: I want to share this FYI. So I used your last recommendation and it worked. However, next morning went back to bad. I noticed that when I opened only the driver door, immediately I will hear the "door ajar signal" or the ding-ding-ding. So I talked to the dealer and told me to bring it back. When I got in this morning, I got the ding-ding-ding. As soon as I get to the dealer and got out, I didn't hear nothing. Tried the remote start and started right away. Crazy. Anyways, they put it throughout all kinds of computers and found nothing. The theory is, there was probably some type of condensation on some of the harness. Not sure. But I live in CT and was cold and snowing this morning so I blasted the heat in the car. Maybe that evaporated the condensation. Still a mystery.
10 second deal does not work on mine. My 13 taurus horn goes off a few extra times after closing the door whether i hit lock or not. Ill try disconnecting the battery tomorrow for a reset.
My key fobs work, but are finicky. Example...i get out of the car and hit the lock button. Sometimes it works, but sometimes i have to move around outside the car to get it to work. Will this programming fix this? BTW, i have replaced the batteries in both keyfobs already with the same result.
I didnt even make it thru the video, but saw several people mention holding it for ten seconds... i did none of the other steps, just held the button for ten seconds and it fixes it
Leaving this for anyone who this method did not work: 2016 Explorer, this did nothing, in the end I disconnected the battery for 20 minutes which forced everything to reinitialize and now it works again.
I brought used ford, remote start was not working. Do foult code readind, if the car has B1492 foult, that meens your car has acsident, you need to do crash memory reset at local service ant remote will works
