don’t assume a vegetable is off the table because it wasnt welcome when served a certain way
Maybe raw vegetables are a no-go but roasted veggies work
Air-frying or Oven-frying veggies is another option

For toddlers, keep in mind that they can just be fickle in general, so do avoid mentally anchoring them by drawing attention to their food preferences or making a fuss. One time they don't eat something, they might like it next time - whether prepared differently, or just the same. An argument about it will anchor them, as will frowning, making a dejected/disappointed expression, and saying something like: so, you don't like asparagus?. Next time they'll just repeat your words "I don't like asparagus" and try to do it in a way to provoke you to react, as toddlers are wont to do.

It looks like my daughter did everything right! I'm impressed! One thing my grand believes, is if he eats green beans, it makes him run fast. Now and again he'll finish eating them, and insist he has so much energy he has to run a few laps in their many acre yard. She also puts him to work if he wants to help her cook, by standing on his tower and using a plastic knife to cut up softer veggies. He takes ownership of some dishes because he helped. Also sheet pan dinners. She asks him to look in the vegetable bins and see what he wants with his protein. He has smoothies and thinks donuts are sliced apples, cut into rounds, with maybe peanut butter and a few sprinkles. Such a great new world of kids eating well!

Interacting with different foods every day helps children to discover the wide variety of whats available and helps them to build confidence trying new things. Of course they're going to fear the unknown so let's help healthy foods become familiar. Food can be fun. Even little tiny children can get involved with 'cooking' start with a yogurt berry and granola parfait for example. They can assemble all the ingredients in their cup like a craft. This video has some really solid tips.

I've often read that it takes at least 15 tasting attempts before a toddler will accept a new food. I laugh, because I've been eating kale for years and still don't enjoy it. I think the trick is to make the "tastes" tiny, inoffensive amounts. For example, despite having a repulsion to black pepper my entire life, I started putting undetectable amounts in a spice blend I used every day. After a couple of months, I noticed that I didn't dislike it anymore, even when I could really taste it.

I dont worry because he get many fruits and veggies in smoothies. I do oats, milk, fruit, veggies and a little no sugar peanut butter. He will eat any i mean any fruit or veggies in this mix. Hint for spiralized zucchini. Never, ever boil it. It gets mushy and watery. Instead, get a sheet pan and line it with a silpat or parchment paper. Spread out your zucchini noodles and bake them until they are as cooked as you’d like. They are MUCH closer to pasta this way.

I need help! My sweet Mother In Law is Colombian and the culture in food is different! She had watched my daughter who is 4 years old while we work for the last year and a half! And she provides more cookies and chips then healthy options! I was sad when I found out they were feeding her hot pockets too! But they raised my husband like that! We have provided snacks/lunch but she says no and her grandma will just give her the bad food! I think she doesn’t want her to cry! At home she’s okay she just want touch veggies! I have tried everything and my daughter is about to start school, and I feel like is slowing becoming overweight! Any tips I can incorporate with her being with family/school! After school snacks and dinner are okay so far since I have more control!

"How to get your kids to eat their vegetables" Make them eat mainly fresh ripe fruits instead(including the fruits tomatoes, zucchini, cucumber, bell pepper and squash), this will be much easier, give them more carbs, vitamin C and pleasure to live and there is nothing essential in vegetables that arent in fruits and you will have less work to cook, win win. 😉

"Make them eat mainly fresh ripe fruits instead." Just a nobody here but constant fructose consumption functions as a signaling molecule for the liver and the rest of the body to store fat in the anticipation that winter is coming. In addition excess fructose consumption will compete for the pathways of the body that absorb vitamin D, A, E and K2 all which are crucial to dental and bone health. This is why many adults and children teeth are riddled with cavities. Here is an interview by the most eminent researcher in the field on the topic of fructose and metabolic health. He is a nephrologist and University professor. It's long but I hope you watch it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L19dBOL1lWo.html

@@drozander3692 This is complete BS, fruit consumption is different of free fructose consumption, fruits contains glucose, sucrose and fructose, not only fructose. Nutrients intake are almost useless for enamel health simply because enamel doesnt contains any living cells and have no blood supply to receive nutrients, just a slight effect through saliva, thats why the body cant fix a broken teeth but it can fix broken bones because they have a blood supply, every dentist will tell you that. You said "excess fructose" yeah the liver limit is like at least 500gr of fructose in a day, good luck getting it from fresh and dried fruits. 3.bp.blogspot.com/-hofey-Jyiyk/Wpyxz7rlHnI/AAAAAAAAjbA/GPlEJXc2jdg4MiItXR9oA4d9b6jg-AqzQCK4BGAYYCw/w1280-h720-p-k-no-nu/Fruit%2BAnd%2BVeg%2BWith%2BLow%2BSugar%2BContent%2B-%2BThe%2BBest%2BFruit%2B2018-772852.jpg nutritionfacts.org/video/if-fructose-is-bad-what-about-fruit/ www.studiodentaire.com/questions/en/is-a-tooth-alive.php

@@Julottt Wanted to disagree with both of your extremes and make a case for the middle. There are plenty of interesting substances with a huge evidence base behind them, such as indoles or allicins, that are only available in veg, and besides that, leafy greens have their own nutritional profile quite distinct to that of fruit, and so variety is best for optimising nutrition. Then there's a psychological case to be made, too: learning palate sophistication, and to enjoy a variety of challenging tastes across the flavour spectrum, rather than just concentrated around 'sweet' (especially with modern heavily selected fruit e.g. commercial grape cultivars). For example, we struggle to redress the balance in preference, where ours might want to pass up the main meal because there's a fridge full of fruit, so I think it useful to make vegetables an 'always' food/snack, and to restrict fruit to something like berries before meals, and anything else depending on how the meal went (NOT as reward for eating, and deprivation as punishment for not eating, but in a sort of reasonable way where the main meal and subsequent fruit are somewhat linked).
@drozander3692
@drozander3692 3 года назад
@@LordFuzzandBeak Thanks for the great reply only mistake I made in that comment was that I used the word "constant" as oppose to excessive fructose consumption wether it is coming from fruit or added fructose from juices or processed foods the body metabolizes the excess as the same by mainly storing it in the liver as fat and later between the organs as visceral fat and even within the muscles. The benefits of plants are mainly through biochemical hormesis. Somewhat similar to exercise biochemical hormesis can lead to some problems in excess consumption.

@@LordFuzzandBeak No essential nutrients as i said, it makes absolutely no sense to only eat fruits as snack for a frugivore anatomy as humans (paleopoo video on nutritonfacts), i eat meals of various ripe fresh fruits since 10 years and thats absolutely delicious and satisfying on its own(no need for any seasonings obviously because perfect food) if eating enough of it minimum 500kcal, it is also very easy to digest since it is low in protein/fat(unless you add avo or nuts) and contains simple sugars(no complex ones that taks much longer to digest and that will turn into simple sugars anyways before getting into your blood)

How about feeding children a human-appropriate diet? Animal-based food is nutritionally-dense, great for growing brains and bodies. Humans need B12 for brains - vegetables *do not* have B12. If you want children to thrive, have great teeth, healthy brains, strong muscles& tendons & bones - *FEED THEM ANIMAL FOODS (MEAT AND DAIRY) There are no vegan communities that have lasted more than one generation. Vegan diets are nutritionally-defficient. Humans evolved from eating almost exclusively animal foods.

You seem to have such strong ideology as a rock, that you will just reject any information that doesn’t fit, but I’ll try: I‘m not 100% sure that all your claims are false, but I can see your only argument is very week, try to watch a video called: „What our ancestors ate doesn’t matter“ And watch „what the health“, then you can see what meat and dairy can do to children. But of course, relying on meat and dairy for a child’s diet, is going very well in the US for example, there are only some allergies, autoimmune diseases, and next generation only 1/3 will have diabetes, so the majority will not have it: Nice 👍! And also: If you want children to thrive, then you don’t give birth to them on this planet, with social media, misinformation and conspiracy theories, a climate crisis, COVID (and upcoming pandemics) If you want your children to thrive you don’t feed them animal products, because it will contribute to climate change, and they won’t have a future, because it teaches them that abusing and violently killing other living creatures is okay for your own desires, and because it raises their risk of chronic disease. If you want to make unscientific claims, then you don’t do it in the comment section of a Channel, that bases all its claims on science, and literally is made, to debunk misinformation, and teach people how to understand scientific studies themselves, so that they can make their own choices. But if you want to base very strong arguments on misinformation and the ignorance of science, then you don’t go to this channel, because everyone here will be able to see, what bullshit you’re trying to spread.

B12 is added to animal food. B12 used to be in our soil but it’s been depleted. Kids usually eat meats and cheese if parents offer them and this is usually fried chicken nuggets and pizza- not very healthy choices. Nutrition packed foods like veggies/ fruits and whole grains packed w fiber are a harder sell. Parents tend not to include these healthy food as much in USA. Schools are even worse. Yet check out the nourishing meals kids in other countries receive in their school lunches.

From a vegan perspective, I would offer the following critique of the statement: Nutrition: While animal-based foods can provide certain nutrients, it is not accurate to claim that a vegan diet is inherently deficient or incapable of meeting nutritional needs. With proper planning, a well-balanced vegan diet can provide all the necessary nutrients for children's growth and development, including protein, iron, calcium, and vitamins. Plant-based sources such as legumes, nuts, seeds, whole grains, and fortified foods can adequately meet nutritional requirements. Vitamin B12: It is true that vitamin B12 is primarily found in animal-based foods. However, vegans can easily obtain this nutrient through fortified foods, such as plant-based milks, breakfast cereals, and nutritional yeast, or through B12 supplements. It's worth noting that B12 deficiency is not exclusive to vegans; it can also affect individuals following an omnivorous diet who have poor absorption or limited intake of animal products. Health and thriving: Numerous studies have shown that well-planned vegan diets can support optimal health at all stages of life, including childhood. The American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics states that appropriately planned vegan diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits for the prevention and treatment of certain diseases. Evolutionary history: While early humans did consume animal products, it is a fallacy to suggest that humans evolved to eat almost exclusively animal foods. Our evolutionary history includes adaptations that allowed us to consume a wide range of plant and animal foods. Furthermore, contemporary scientific understanding shows that humans can thrive on a variety of dietary patterns, including plant-based diets. Vegan communities: The claim that no vegan communities have lasted more than one generation is misleading. There are long-standing vegan communities and individuals who have raised healthy vegan children who continue to follow the lifestyle into adulthood. The growth of veganism worldwide demonstrates that it is a viable and sustainable dietary choice. It's important to approach discussions about diet and nutrition with an open mind, relying on scientific evidence and individual experiences to inform our understanding. While different perspectives exist, it is essential to recognize that a well-planned vegan diet can provide adequate nutrition for children's growth and development.

Dairy products are extremely nutritious as well even though people say dairy is fattening, it's actually extremely good for you. And there's no science based evidence whatsoever that dairy products stops you from absorbing iron in your body. It's the calcium in the dairy, not the actual dairy product, that affects your ability to take iron from food.
