Sir could you tell me where to sit on the motorcycle set like ( near the gas tank or away fron the gas which where the back seat hump is situated i wanted to know which place on the sit will provide more control over the bike)
i have been riding for 15 years and I love corners what a great lesson. people charge $500 a day to teach what you did for free on youtube. god speed brother keep them coming
Wow I've seen a lot of videos on RU-vid on this subject, but never have I seen anyone take it this far and actually show you how to drag a knee in a damn parking lot of all places. Keep them coming bro, I think I'll stick around for a bit.
@@johnmadsen37 I actually find the whole thing of dragging a knee, leaning into the turn fun. It's very enjoyable and exciting so I will continue to do it and get DAMN good at it that thankyou
been riding sportbikes for 50 years now, never been hurt (knock on wood) dropped a few. This is the best nuts and bolts riding technique explanation i've ever seen. Now i'm waiting for the wheelie tutorial. This guy is the college professor of the art of riding. Never seen anything this competent.
Just managed to get my first knee down yesterday, using your techniques. A great feeling and gives me confidence in my tyres in the right conditions! Thanks for all you do supporting the motorbike community.
now your really close to good high speed wreck!! it's coming bro!@ just pray ya get to live!! I still ride but went to cruiser bike.. I'm lucky to be a live still.. had some serious wrecks on them sport bikes and I love them still but if you want to ride faster than speed limits you got to accept your going down
@@oldm8alfie you must be young and ride sport bike? Lol hit me back after you total one bro then we see who the ruff guys are.. I have totalled 3 bikes... Been over 20; years since and ride almost every day
It's so rare to have someone that can give you wicked tips and who practices what they preach too too physically demonstrate it. You're a true gem in motorbike World Eddy. Ta very much buddy, ride safe.
Thank you so much!! I'm sure there will still be someone that says, "Well, I bet you can't do that on a ______" lol wait til I get a Harley to borrow!! lol
BRO. I've had an R6 before and picked up a 2015 S1000RR two months ago - the exact same color as the one in the vid. You literally made me knee down within three hours of dedicated practice - and that's in a parking lot. In circles, as if doing donuts in a car. At 25-30km/hr. On 5 year old tires (ordered new ones now) Thank you so much man, you really are the best!
So went to an empty parking and before I achieved anything security threw me out 😂 Went to race track. On my 6th visit I got my knee down at about 45-50 mph corner. It was epic! I learned a lot from your videos.
I've been riding since 1987, owned 9 bikes now (2 currently), and I've taught about ten people how to ride over the years (including 3 women). But I myself have never learned to corner at this level (let alone teach it). Oh I've scraped pegs and gone all the way to the edge of tires thousands of times, but I just never learned how to hang off the bike. Certainly never thought I'd want to go out and try to learn it at age 51 now. But this video has inspired me - I'm getting knee pads and doing this in a huge lot. On actual roads I won't try it, but I want this body posture/alignment skill happening even when I'm only going halfway...
Thank you so much for this video. I've been watching a few times a week and going to the local movie theater parking lot to practice. I finally got my knee down today. You've earned a subscriber.
I have never ridden a sport bike, let alone done any kind of crazy cornering. However, as a teacher of other things, I can recognize this man is brilliant at explaining technique on a whole different level compared to most other people I've watched explain motorcycle technique. How truly fortunate us motorcycle enthusiasts are for a teacher like this.
Been riding for about two and a half years and been practicing ever since day one. I always thought this was unattainable but now I can actually do this comfortably 👍🏽 Definitely good tips in these vids
You definitely have a great talent and skill towards teaching and educating your viewers(me included) in motorcycle riding and safety. Thank you for sharing this vast knowledge in your videos. Rock on!!!!!
Your welcome. I apologize, because i do not have a Instagram, Facebook or Twitter account. I recommended your channel to a friend of my through word of mouth. He has a passion for motorcycles like i do. I just created a account on google 2 weeks ago. All this is pretty new to me.
Thank you😨 I just discovered I do a lot of things incorrectly... I am happy to see you explaining how to, and how not to- in very easy way🙌🏻 Great video thanks a lot!!
As a budding racer and frequent track dayer myself who has seen these tips in my racing schools, for which I had to pay a lot,its absolutely superb to see someone take the time and effort to demonstrate it so eloquently! Cheers mate and please keep more coming, including the advanced track tips if possible and convenient! Subbed!
Anyone who gives a thumbs down to a guy who takes the time to pass on his knowledge to make other riders do things the correct way don't have a understanding of how many new riders rely on this kind of information. I have been riding almost 40 years and still find it helpful to watch other people's techniques that could make me a better rider or even one day save your life. Gr8 work Ed liked and subbed. Greetings from Oz
I’ve been riding for over 40 years but only recently started actually trying to learn and improve my skills. Your videos are so good and I’m excited to put theory into practice.
I took the doors off mine. Now I can really lean into it. Wife still a little nervous to lean out her side. says she wants a real helmet... Guess I'm wearing the mixing bowl now💂
I gotta say man, I saw the thumbnail and braced myself for a lot of bullshit like you see a lot of the time here on youtube. But you surprised me man, very informative and very correct notes. Especially turning the body into the corner. A lot of people lean with their body, but they don't turn their body into the corner as wel. So +1 on that. I enjoyed the video. There is some good info in here!
Great job.. I always thought you had to go faster, and use wide turns, to lean the bike and touch the ground with your knee.. Subscribed.. Keep them coming..
Fantastic. I think a lot of new riders are under the assumption that you need to practice this either on the track or risk it on the road. Hope more see it. Nice job.
A track is safer, no light stands, no parked vehicles, nothing to hit, and room for you to stop and not hit anything if something goes wrong. This is next best thing.
Man, this Chanel really is the holy grail. No quirky video full of ads taking too long to get to the point. Simple and straight forward. I always feel like I learn something. Thank you!
Wow! I’ve only been riding two or three months and I never thought I could practice knee down in a parking lot at low speed… Much safer and actually harder than what I’ve been doing to practice. I hope the late afternoon Walmart shoppers are ready to see me there every damn day!
Awesome video! You showed me exactly the things I’ve been thinking about as I’ve just bought my first sports bike, an 07 Daytona 675. I’m excited to go find an empty car park next weekend. Thank you 👍
If you are a new rider and purchased ur first bike during this Corona Virus shutdown like myself, And had no place open or available to take a safety course, then this is the place to learn. I purchased my first bike 10 days ago, Ive never rode before, our state was shut down so I had no place to take a safety course or to train. So what I did first day was have a friend ride my bike to an empty mall parking lot, and I started practicing lessons from MotoJitsu every single day in the parking lot. These videos helped me self learn and get the basics of riding. After watching his last vid about stopping and starting on a hill, I was finally able to get out on the road and execute what Ive learned. By the time I take my Motorcycle Safety Course at the end of July, Ill be a step ahead. Btw the end of July was first available class in my state so I needed these lessons to get me started.
I have watched a ton of videos on this and yours is hands down the BEST VIDEO ON THE SUBJECT!!! Nobody else comments on the keys you did.... Body, head, bike! I am going to write that on my tank. The other tip is not moving your body! Thanks so much!
I just got my M1 a couple weeks ago, bought a CB300R, and going for my course in a few weeks… this stuff seems so crazy to me. I’m excited but nervous all at the same time. I tend to think more on the negative side. It’s been a dream for 20 years, and I’ve always been hesitant due to the danger. Something inside me just needs to ride though, even though I’ve never been on a bike in my life. These tutorials are all very detailed and extremely helpful. I won’t be dropping my knee any time soon, but I enjoy watching all your videos. Thanks for the great content, I’m super excited to start my new journey at 38 years old.
Hello Eddie! Your video inspired me to go practice in a parking lot after I got my riding pants on friday. I saw a lot of videos (not necessarily yours) talking about how noobs stick their knees out a bit too far and are not in a good position. So, I stuck my knee out to the point that I thought was enough. I kept practicing my left turns, getting lower and lower - I started noticing I had my head lower than I'd ever been before on a bike. It felt great! So, I kept getting lower, and then I felt my toe kick the ground. "Hmm, maybe I turned my toe out too much or put my foot out too far on the peg", I thought. The next attempt turn, my peg scraped, and I washed out on the bike, lowsiding her at a nice and slow 15-20mph. and cracking my frame slider. Got up 100% okay, scratch free. Checked the bike out - some scratches on the passenger foot pegs, my kick stand and my crankcase. Gear looked a little scratched and my helmet's visor got a couple of small digs in it. A very easy, slow crash and I was just fine. I bought the bike pre-crashed (used fz07 that I had replaced OEM parts onto), so I didn't feel bad. Did a few more low-risk turns and called it a day. Can't wait to practice next weekend! Thanks for inspiring me and making these tutorials.
(FWIW, I guess I just didn't position my knee out far enough, in the right position. I did have my hips towards the inside of the turn, but definitely didn't try to stick my knee out. Derp!)
Popped up in my recommended videos and my first thought was oh great another rookie trying to teach other rookies. Was thoroughly impressed by Eddie and his teaching abilities. One thing that I would've mentioned would be to place your hand on your grip like you are opening a door at 3am and your parents are sleeping in the living room. Gentle grip farther down toward the bar end. Its all in the BP, and just take your time with it. On a funny side note dragging knee is harder for short guys 5'7 and under lol they really gotta perfect their BP. Mean while 6'0+ just stick out their leg at a 30 degree lean angle and are grinding their puck lol.
Just wanted to say thanks a lot for all your training bro, I started watching you 3 years ago b4 I started on my Ninja 400 (only had it for 2 seasons, wish I kept it) and about to graduate to Z900 and I feel so confident bcuz I did all your trainings, read the books, and took the time to practice technique! Just came back to show love brotha 👌🏽💯
Thank you, Greg. Your buddy's bike sounds awesome. Man, I so wished I lived closer to you. I know we'd be friends. Now I just washed my triumph and heading out to practice. Peace, brother
Went to a parking lot and tried for 20 Minutes, watched your vid and scraped literally 5 minutes after. No bs just straight up how to do it. Good content bro.
hey bro, my name is rotciv from nigeria. this is the second video of yours I am watcing now. got a bike last week but didnt have the guts to take it for spin. the sheer size scared the crap out of me. but after I watched the first video, even though it was about swerving, I had enough confidence to go downstairs and move the bike in the parking lot on first gear, even managed to turn a couple of times. thanks for making it look so easy men, you are a rare teacher...
I think I've watched this video ten times. Nooooow I'm starting to get it. Set yourself up prior to the lean. Half butt off the set and space between the tank and family jewels. I'll need to watch this another ten times before I attempt a knee down. Thanks Greg!
I've never felt the need to put a knee down sure it looks cool. I might finally give it a go , good explanation of technique and what you are doing whilst performing the manoeuvre
I started watching this channel 3 weeks ago introduced by Doodle on Motorcycle. First, thank you for your service. Excellent self introduction on the Patreon. After two weeks, reviewing additional information on Patreon simple conclusion… I wish to know about your channel one year ago. Thank you.
i've learned more from your channel than all the others on youtube combined, love how clearly you demonstrate techniques, most other coaches can explain it but not perform the move, at least not clearly on video.
Was honest enough to say he practiced just before making the video. The verbal explanations were very crystal clear. And when he got on the bike, just made things more amazing!!!!
it's countless times that I re-watched this again and again trying to spot my mistakes, to this day I've not been able to drag my knee in a normal size bike, practiced in pit-pikes and worked well, but in naked bike my knee feels like it's way too high to get close to the ground, I would love to see a detailed explanation from you @motojitsu on how to position your feet depending on the rider size and the motorcycle. (you do have a video about positioning your feet but I must be doing something wrong because putting my feet in the recommended position just make my knee to go even higher and not lower). Thanks again for all the effort you put on these videos, I'm trying to do the same in spanish as I agree that practicing is pure gold and life-saving attitude.
I have more videos on this topic and about feet placement. welcome!! If you have a minute, check out my website MotoJitsu.com. It was the links to my App, books, merchandise, affiliate links, courses I recommend, and so on. Thanks!!
Started training some days ago using your instructions and I'm very close to touch my knee down. Tomorrow morning I'll install new tyres and I'll have more confidence. Although i can't find a parking lot near me (the only one is near a police station,I'm sure the policemen won't like my titanium slip on,decated without silencer) so I'm training at mountain roads with low speed and full gear... Cheers buddy
What I'm mostly surprised from, is that all that knowledge and trust to the bike is given to you back from the bike. As if she had ears and listened to your knowledge trusting and confidence, and givin it all back to you. It's all about relationship and how trustworthy it is between the rider and the bike. Soo Important!
I sat on duty with this guy at my old battalion. Didn’t know he did RU-vid, but I’m not surprised of his his flawless instruction. Very informative Marine and motorcyclist.
And neither was I in the entertainment industry 3 years ago. This is inspiring, yet not surprising that you went this route, at the same time capitalizing on it as a business opportunity. You kept many Marines safe and now knowledge transcends to many across the world. I’m just getting into riding and your information is by far the best I’ve seen on RU-vid and I take private lessons by a pro I can actually watch your videos and apply it practically! Monopolize and blow the competition away!
Thanks for explaining this down to the details- lots of riders who try to explain it just say "Just do it" and it's not helpful. Some assume that you know this stuff just because you ride a 600/1000cc bike.. not easy, especially on heavier bikes.
Thanks bro you couldn't have explained it any better man I went out and did what you said and it worked perfectly so thank you. Before an hour ago I was too scared to freaking drop my knee and now pushing the butt back half cheek off loosen up your arms, works like a charm
This is the best riding technique explanation i ever seen. Very good teaching and tutorial. You are art of riding. Never seen anything this competent. Thanks
I have been riding for many years. and I am really glad I ran into this video. I grew up on the dirt. and even though I think I am a good rider on the street. I never felt as good on the street as on the dirt. and I wish I could've had this lesson many years ago. because now I am allot older and not into taking the risks I took when I was younger. but watching you in this video made me see how to go about practicing this. I don't want to risk this on my new 2nd hand 2017 Ducati 939 Supersport I recently bought. and the twin engine doesn't like running at those low rpm's. so I think I am going to put some better tires on my old Ninja 250 and by some protective gear and get in a parking lot and try to do the things you showed in this video. and if I can get it down then I will try it on the 939. this was a really good video lesson. it was very simple to understand. and it all makes total sense. and I can picture myself pulling it off in my mind.
I have just purchased an 2015 rsv4 , as a some what novice the situation could get interesting very quickly, this is a great video as a tip of how cornering is done, hopefully it may help keep the wheels on the road, thank you very much for taking your time and posting it 👍
One thing about u man...u always hv that energetic n the passion in showing every technics u teach....u always shows that excitement...thats is one of the reason why u a very good at this...u enjoy what u do...having fun with it...that love man...that is the love of a real riders...pure lovee man
I'll take this course related how to knee on the bike as soon as I get one. Can't wait! Of course, I have to think safety first which I just learned from survival riders about their terrible accidents.
Just got passed your video thank you so much for giving your time! I've been taking it slowly for 10years lol... what you have said makes total sense... can't wait to start this!
You are easily the best riding tutor on RU-vid. Always well explained, no bulls#@t and you cover all of the bases. You have helped me get to where I am
@motojitsu your videos are amazing I really enjoy them and it's great to find someone who really knows their craft inside out my nephew is doing his test and I've pointed him to your RU-vid channel you have fantastic teaching skills can't wait to get out for a ride on my bike as soon as lock down is over 👍😉
I was finally able to drag a knee at our local go-kart track. There are no available courses where I'm from unfortunately. But I learned a lot watching this guy. So thank you.
This is the best video that I have seen on cornering position. Very good. If I could add one more thing, which you alluded to but did not say directly, that you should swivel your hips to face the handle on the side you are turning to, so that when you do bend over the tank your spine is not twisted up, and instead it is straight (looking from behind you) with a bend forward.
great video and I love how you teach things! I am going to start practicing when the weather warms up in NYC, by the way I am 65 and I am riding a 2023 MT09-Sp.
Yo... so I looked on RU-vid for race drills and couldn’t find anything good... so I thought... well... first gear is the toughest in throttle control so if I go to a parking lot and really work on leaning and form and tight figure eights... then I should be able to focus on feeling the line at an extreme corner with touchy throttle... focus on form... should make 90mph corner feel even easier... that was 2 weeks ago... now I see this... great minds think alike. Great video on form. You explained so many key points in such a short amount of time
