Add **/ as a folder wildcard. Ie **/__pycache__/ sometimes helps but you're right you have already committed these to git. I like to start with the python .gitignore on github as a starter. You can reset but if I haven't made too many commits I just delete the commits and re-commit after changes are made. The .gitignore is one of the first ones in the project dir added. Caught myself making some bad commits. I have a bash script that adds the files into a new project such as .gitignore
Thank you again. I really need to start migrating tutorials over to the command line for git operations which would also, in turn, support more learners who use Linux-based machines. I have slowly phased this in to gauge feedback and issues. Please let me know if anyone reading this finds this step difficult or has any feedback on friendlier approaches for a broad learning base.
@veryacademy yes. I prefer cli to desktop ver of git. More control faster and better understanding. Very good tutorials though. Some very good content. Love the short video structure and keeping it focused. I usually start all project with setup first ie black flake isort ci/CD setup .gitignore .flake8. As I said before I do most of the configuration in toml in the pyproject.toml which is fast becoming the standard.
