Last year I was choking and no one was there to help me waited for a 5 second ad to end and ended up frantically trying to bend over coughing it out while waiting. RU-vid needs to acknowledge these videos and emergencies as this could save a life.
Thanks for the 2 unskippable ads, RU-vid! Sure to be helpful in a situation when someone is looking this up quickly to save someone from choking to death!
here in Canada I had to take first aid and self defense (for girls) when we took a mandatory physical education course in high school. That was 13 years ago We're required to take at least one course as a high school diploma requirement. i hope they're still doing it.
I nearly died after getting a piece of meat stuck in my wind-pipe last week. I tried to swallow it, but was unable too. I tried drinking some water, but because my tubes were blocked, the water just spilled out my mouth. I thought I cannot die here (I was sitting at home), so I stood up, bent forwards and crossed my arms against my stomach to try and administer the Heimlich Maneuver myself while trying to get to my neighbour for help. While walking across my room, I forced my stomach to be sick while still squeezing my stomach with my crossed arms and finally, a large piece of meat flew out my mouth. Phew, I thought, that would have been one sad way to have died. This taught me to thoroughly chew my food before swallowing, especially red meat.
@@yottakat1069 Thanks and yes, I am okay. To be honest, when I saw the size (large) piece of meat, I looked at it and thought i deserved to have died it was so big! BTW, My neighbour I tried to get to have since died due to COPD complications!
I just choked earlier today at a restaurant and my friend saved my life using this thanks to God. This helped me learn how to do it myself if this happens to someone else!
Your friend saved you and you're thanking "god?" You should be thanking your friend. But good on you for learning this, you now have the knowledge to pay it forward.
Kaas Ambrook just because they're thanking god doesn't mean they haven't thanked their friend? I mean I get that you probably don't believe in a god or whatever but that doesn't mean you get to disrespect people who do
My grandma just choked and i had to wing this, and thank god I was successful and I decided I needed to know exactly what to do. I was so frightened. Please learn this , you will not regret it.
Learned this when I was a child in swim classes. Two weeks later my little brother was choking on a candy. Everyone freaking out I ran over and did the heimlich and saved him. I will never forget that day and how close it happened to when I learned how to do it. It was one hell of a coincidence I must say.
Ry Rez :wow...what a story.what a coincidence.see thats the thing...people panic and dont know what to do.And u did.and thats why your brother is still here.God bless u both!
I came here after I read about Heimlich who saved a choking woman recently, he is 96yo, and he used his own Heimlich manuever and saved her life. Not many ppl can say Heimlich saved their life using Heimlich manuever :) "just" two... ha saved 2 lives with this, and thousands of ppl around the world live because they were saved using his technique. Well, this a Hall of Fame material... Thanks mr Heimlich
MY WIFE WAS CHOKING THE OTHER NIGHT. I HAD NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. I WAS IN A PANIC. SHE WAS OK AFTER A FEW SECONDS.I KNEW THEN I NEEDED TO SEE HOW TO DO THIS. THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS WITH US. nEXT TIME, I'LL KNOW WHAT TO DO.
I just showed this video to my son, 6 years old. He was knocking back some chicken nuggets and one got stuck. He was in panic and then crying after I did the HM. I showed him that I wasn't trying to hurt him, but to help him. He watched this video and completely understood.
0:00 - 0:20 "Here is what you do if someone is choking. Let's say for example you are at a restaurant and someone is choking. So here's my friend here, and let's say we're out eating, and it looks like she is choking." I need more examples before we begin the video please.
There are only 2 examples: 1. If the person starts choking but can breathe they will cough and cough and you might give a pat on the back to help them out - the coughing should dislodge the blockage and you do not need to take action. 2. If the person chokes and cannot breathe you have to take action - the Heimlich manouevre. Everyone around the world will grab their throat and start to get panicked if they cannot breathe because of choking - the nurse mentions that in the video.
I remember watching a rescue 911 episode back in the day where a class of young kids (first grade maybe?) were taught the Heimlich. The next day or so one of the kids from class choked and his class mate saved him. My dad saved my brothers life with it, too. Its definitely something everyone should know and it's so easy even a child can save a life.
I had to do this at a Golden Corral in Kentucky when I was just 17 and I saved a 67 year old woman.. Everyone should learn this. BTW Golden Corral gave me a card that is good for life that covers 100% of the cost of any Golden Corral I go to..
Looked this up to educate myself in case of an actual emergency and was forced to watch two mandatory ads. Just throwing it out there to the RU-vid people that some people might actually try to look at this in a dire situation and the last thing they’ll want to see is LiMu Emu and Doug
I watched this video a few years ago. Since then, I have practiced this in the air or in my head (not on a person) many, many times. About 30 minutes ago, a member of my family was choking to the point that their lips turned blue. I remained calm and did exactly what this video taught me years ago. I just saved their life. Thank you for teaching this to me or I might've just lost a family member.
This helps alot thank you. Earlier today my younger sister was choking and she put her fingers down her mouth i was trying to figure out what she was doing but my parents were yelling at her because she wouldn't anwser them only after she pulled the food out her mouth did we realise she was choking. She ran away crying i feel awful the worst part is ive had basic first aid training and my dad is a firefighter yet we just sat there yelling watching her choke. I hate myself right now i truly wish this was taught in schools.
That’s a weird way to respond to someone who clearly has something stuck in their throat. You don’t yell at people when they’re in distress whether she was choking or not.
I came to the first result after reading some comments about getting 2 no skip ads for this kinda stuff. They were right, 10 very valuable seconds would've been wasted had i needed this in the moment.
I had to do this maneuver on yesterday on a disabled client who had a pea stuck in his throat. Took some time but we eventually got it up. Came to check I had done it right!
I'm here after watching a teenage kid performing the manoeuvre to his friend choking on his lunch at school, and thought I really need to learn this lifesaving technique. We never know.
@@parkerasel8129 pretty straight forward... it's a vid about the Heimlich, and they said not getting too "choked" up over it & instead of saying Rest In Peace said Relax Ingestive Peristalsis... lol
In 1963 I was choking on a jawbreaker I accidentally swallowed. I was home alone. I could not breath. I was in the kitchen so I raised myself up with full arm extension and dropped my rib cage onto the sink. It didn't work so I tried again and this time the jawbreaker flew out of my throat and shattered in the sink. I believe that divine intervention guided me through the process. You see the Heimlich maneuver wasn't invented by Henry Heimlich until 1974.
Videos like this shouldn’t have ads. I youtube’d this to help my choking friend. The ads prevented me from gaining this knowledge in the few short moments I had and now my friend is in ICU and might not make it
I was given an opportunity by God to use it the very next day after being taught by our ICU HOD in medical school . Saw my best friend choking and as soon I used this technique..a large piece of carrot flew out of her mouth . Still thank God for this .
I was choking once, alone in my college room with no one by my side. I really panicked but finally got a piece of bread out after what seemed forever. Never knew eating could be so scary.
I’m sometimes left alone with my 8 year old little brother, and I always had like, the fear of him choking and not being able to do anything due to not knowing the Heimlich Maneuver.
