Hi Gillian! I started an online art and stationery brand and business on instagram in 2020 while doing university full time. The trajectory of growth of my businesss and brand has been slow and exponential which i am content with, but your channel and videos are helping me realize that I approached the process a little backwards! I love your transparency about how we probably won’t make much money during the “building” phases. Too many people think they’ll go from $0 to their goal overnight, so when that doesn’t happen, they give up prematurely.

I started watching your videos and you have really given me the inspiration to push on. I think fear is greatly underestimated. It is a parasite that grows in us, multiplies and just makes our lives miserable. When we find the courage to fight it, we are honestly unstoppable. Also, I could add that it is greatly important to find people who are really supportive of your dreams and to stay far away from those who crash and step on them. I wish you all the best this year.

Hello Gillian. I released my first novel last year. It is a military-based tech-thriller. I am now in Phase 3: getting the 2nd and 3rd books in the series out before the end of this year. Just found your videos and really enjoy the content. Today I discovered I'm in stage 3 building my systems....who knew. Starting a custom woodworking and furniture business with a product line of affordable quality built screen doors. I should find out next week if my product will be sold in one of the areas largest and best lumber yards. Next video i need to watch is the one about systems..😁 Thanks for the great advice.
I learned so much form this, I have been on phase 3 for about a year now, I spent a very long time on phase 1 and I believe I'm at the gates of phase 4. That's great news and super insightful, it means I can now go and make sure that my systems are set up properly (cause I feel like some aren't) and then work those systems!

Great video! I love the four-phase plan, but would phase 2 be different for something like starting a RU-vid channel? I'd imagine it may take more time to earn $1,000 from RU-vid, even for channels that later become very successful. Would you measure the viability of the product through something else, say, subscriptions and engagement? Thanks!
I wouldn’t say it’s the same for a RU-vid channel, but the difference could be to gain your first 1,000 or so subscribers. That can definitely be quite a long process depending on the niche, but start with that and try to alter the plan provided with how that would work with YT. It’s going to be a much slower process trying to make $100k a year with a YT channel unless you have lots of viral videos.

The process seems so daunting, but the way you've broken it down into steps here really clicked for me. I'm less and less happy in my current job every year so 2022 is going to be the year for me. I'm going to make this happen.
So many times people would say "why are you doing that, you're not even earning anything" because they'd only ever experienced a 9-5 job where the money is instant and predictable (but also, is capped). If I'd seen this video 3 years ago my journey would have been so different! As it is, last month I was wondering how on earth to set financial goals as a self-employed creative seeing as the income growth is likely to be a sudden curve, not a steady climb or a consistent amount - both things I'd tried to aim for in the past but obviously failed miserably. This video not only helped clarify my thoughts but is so encouraging and practical. I'd love to hear how others plan on practically implementing this video... for me, I'm plotting out the details of my sales process and creating templates to reuse on new leads.
I've done all those steps over the last year and a half and I have made just under 3 k total what's the next steps or what am I missing. I watched that video went check check check check and was like ok I must be missing something because Im no where near 100 k
Here's how. Create a course selling the fantasy of making money and sell it for a few hundred dollars. Sell a few thousand copies and then you have your 100k. Then uncle sam takes half. Good luck 🤞
I got my RU-vid channel since the last 3 years, I have 43 subscribers. Recently I noticed advertisements inserted before my content, and I don’t get a penny for it, please advise.
I have nearly read everyone’s comments and I had to add mine too. So this years goal is to make at least $1000 up to 1k. Always look forward to a challenge;) but I do need a better explanation in the validation phase. Where does one go for that?
