These are great tips, David!! Thank you for sharing them. I'm in the middle of transitioning from part-time to full-time right now, and as much as I want to jump right in, I know I need to be patient and take my time in order to launch a successful Full-time business.
Wow. Thank you for this. Practicing patience and planning out my future for my Wife and I as we hope to make this transition in the coming years. Appreciate this insight and truth!
Love all of this man! Super helpful! Also loved the ebook! So for your pricing is it simply a base package of x number of hours and a 3-5 minute film for $XXXX and then you have all the add on’s? I like the idea of bumping it up each time but just want to know what your base package entails!
Great question man! I actually have 3 packages. My middle one is the most booked one and it's just a 4-6 minute highlight film. Then I have add-ons for full ceremony, toasts, and RAW footage.
Solid advice, David! You presented several key points we hadn’t thought through fully, & make a big difference in the long run. My only other advice is to know your numbers. You touched on this, but I would recommend anyone looking at going full time on their own business (no matter what it is) knows the numbers that will make it work. How many bookings will you need, how long for each booking, what are your overhead/ongoing expenses, what do you need to bring home!
Haha! I shot my first catholic wedding in Upland last November, and found out pretty quick, I too am not suited for shooting catholic weddings especially as a single shooter. Great video, I appreciate the incite.
Could you do a video on moving your business? Potentially moving states and I am so overwhelmed as the majority of my inquiries are from word of mouth and referrals from local planners and photographers!
