ABOUT THIS VIDEO
--------------------------------
This video is all about how to go zero waste on a BUDGET. There's no need to run out and buy fancy items when you could probably use many of the things you either already have around your home!
Some of the items linked are affiliate links for more information please see my disclosure policy https:www.goingzerowaste.com/disclosure
These are the items I started with:
1. CLOTH NAPKINS
I hand stitched my own cloth napkins from scrap fabric found at the thrift store, but I've linked a set that I like on etsy.
Cloth Napkins: shrsl.com/1idns
2. PILLOW CASES:
AKA making my own produce bags. I don't have a sewing machine and I hand stitched these..... they did not hold up super well. I have several sets of reusable bags but I've linked a few of my favorites below.
Simple Ecology Flat bags which are good for buying things that contain gluten/nuts so you don't cross contaminate the grocery store for people with allergies: amzn.to/2HUW55c
Simple Ecology Woven bags which are good for things like produce: amzn.to/2TyvY69
Flip and Tumble: amzn.to/2U7UD69
3. MASON JARS:
Mason jars are really easy for me to come by in thrift stores, but also I saved all of my mason jars from food like pasta sauce, mustard, coconut oil etc.
I didn't get my snapware until I had been living a zero waste lifestyle for almost a year and a half. You know I LOVE my snapware.
Glass Snapware: amzn.to/2ugC4Oo
4. REUSABLE BAGS:
I did NOT like these -------- amzn.to/2HFHxal
I received these as a Christmas Present and I LOVE them!!! amzn.to/2UYTgDJ
5. REUSABLE MENSTRUAL PRODUCTS:
When I first went zero waste I bought a menstrual cup. I bought the blossom cup.
amzn.to/2HJqAMf
I don't wear a menstrual cup anymore and now use Thinx.
I am a Thinx Leader which means if you’re interested in purchasing any Thinx you can get $10 off your order with this link: www.shethinx.c...

Wow! I had no idea that y'all would be interested in label removal. Definitely will add this to the list!

Yes! A video on removing labels would be great. I really must learn to stitch. Your hand made napkins are lovely. You got an amazing bargain on the Kleen Canteens! Swapping to reusable pads has made a huge difference on so many levels in my life. Thanks for sharing how to go lower waste without breaking the bank. 💕

Thank you! I love it! Buying zero waste items new kind of defeats the purpose.

Yes, definitely a label removal video. Sometimes they soak off really easy, others times seems impossible (super gluey) anything you try.

Definitely pointless to buy new when you can go thrift shopping. Today we went thrifting for a mortar and pestle and a few other things for our wedding and found a marble motar and pestle for 9 bucks so much cheaper then brand new for 40.

These are fantastic tips! I'm moving into my first apartment in about 2 weeks and I can't wait to start applying some of these tips into my life. I'm not sure if you have done a blog post or video about this, but I would love to hear tips about how to dispose of various odd items. As someone who is trying to be more mindful of waste, I want to make sure I am disposing of things properly, ie, batteries, electrical cords, non-reusable/wearable clothing, etc. I can't think of any other specific items right now.

Great video ideas! Check out my posts called "how to recycle the right way!" www.goingzerowaste.com On the blog. I have them covering most of these topics except for clothing. That's coming out this month!

Usually zero waste or minimizing waste will save you money in the long run. It might feel costly in the beginning but I’ve managed to cut down alot on my expenses by lessening my waste

Yes! Would love a comparison/opinion review of ways to remove labels off of jars! Especially with different types of labels as some are a bit more plastic or have a lot more stubborn adhesive slathered all over it.

What are some cheap switches for hair care? I don’t want to use the baking soda and vinegar stuff because I know that’s not good for your hair. I’ve also tried those methods in the past and it did a number on my hair and scalp. And shampoo and conditioner bars are so expensive especially when I’m used to having to buy super cheap $1-$2 bottles of shampoo at the dollar store. Me and my fiancé are on a super tight budget and we live under the poverty line so trying to switch to zero waste alternatives that are still good for your body has really been a challenge for us. You have wonderful tips for things like produce bags, rags, and containers but I really want to be able to do a full switch

Could you please also include what to do with labels remnants? I soak mine in hot soapy water and they come off almost in one piece all the time and if I dried them I could reuse them but I don’t know how! Please guide me Guru Kathryn 😊

Deanna Mac Smear peanut butter on the label and let it sit until the label sides off easily. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Well, I'm not sure about menstrual cups. They're very often made of plastic and it's not healthy to wear them. I think there are healthier and more sustainable menstrual products...

how is 1000 dollars a month not a lot of money? this is like the top salary in my country haha
@davisginn1298
@davisginn1298 4 года назад
Woah, that’s definitely different than our situation in America. For the past couple of years the median income for the lower class has been around $25,000 and the 78,000 in the middle class.

davis ginn so interesting how different economy is for each country. only people with several years of studies and experience can make 1000 dollars in my country so it’s actually considered a lot of money. no wonder people are leaving. I would leave too actually so I can make more.
