This video was extremely helpful because I have a black headed caique and he is always reaching for things he shouldn't be touching and I frak out and grab him by the back and he squeals and doesn't talk to me. Thanks for the video :)
You wont believe how thankful i am for you posting this video this actually helped me along in clipping my bird's very good video you are a very clever bird handler
Wow, this is really helpful, I found a bird outside today , it was injured but I am really scared to hold it, it is in my room, I am just scared cause I don’t want to hurt him, but this has helped a lot, Thanks again!
What a beautiful pet. I'm sure you guys are best friends, my pets don't even let me hold them If an emergency happened they are probably better at escaping it than I.
After my granny died, she left a cockatiel and I had to start taking care of him. He didnt get used to me and now he's sick and I have to give him medicine, but he just gets too scared. I hope this video helps me out so I can help him.
Very helpful , I've been trying to get Rose (5 months old female galah) back into her cage but every time I try she screams and bites me very hard, once I grabbed her I thought I broke her neck so I let go, after trying your technique she struggled but it was fine, thank you very much 😩♥️
joe ru you’re welcome! Honestly showing them that you have the power to be their boss will help with them biting because they know that you can just grab them. It’s better if you have trust and they go along with what you’re wanting, but them knowing that if they’re being fussing that you can just man handle them. Trust me, it makes a huge difference!
I'm assuming you meant rosella a thing about them is that they arent thay much of a companion type of bird even if born as a baby and raised it still wont trust you completely
@@Alex-we5qo Galahs and rosellas are completely different. Galahs are cockatoos, rosellas ar their own thing, but they indeed aren't a good choice if you want a cuddly pet. Galahs can be pretty cuddly, but they definitely aren't easy birds to tame.
i have a question, so i've seen birds grab other birds by the beak and shake them and do it repeatedly, is this normal? and if it is normal, why do they do it?
QueasyAsh it’s a sign of affection. They’re trying to feed each other. Birds regurgitate food for their young and sometimes will do this for each other. Meiko sometimes tries to do to me and he’ll regurgitate into his own beak and then eat it again. Kind of gross but cute that he loves me to do it!
I hv to learn this cuz my bird is taking medicine, and it's been 3 days that he hurts his eyes cuz he moves a lot when I'm giving medicine to him, I'm just so sad and I'll try this for sure!
I have a lovebird that I am needing to give a bath since she has been laying eggs and soiled herself a lot. She tries to bite at me due to being hormonal and my vet said I can use a towel to help hold her/catch her, and then showed me the hold you did. How do you work up the courage to grab the bird without worrying you are gonna get bit or hurt them?
Hi, I have a pet finch and I NEED to take off her metal leg band. its cut in half, so i could unfold it, but i dont want to hurt her. do you have any advice on how to get it off?
Arianna I would take the bird to the vet in that case. You don't want to accidentally break her leg or hurt her. If you had another person who could get it off and you hold her, you could try that but be very careful with a finch. I hope that helps you!
Of course! I also have a cockatiel and it works for all parrots that I’m aware of 😋 Just be very gentle. You may get bit a few times while practicing but it’s better to practice so you can know what to do in a real emergency!
I won't to trim my ringnecks wings but he bites me hard and draws blood will this prevent me being bites and how do I grab him out of his cage he is not hand tamed he will eat treats from my hand but that's it will your tecneck work
what if the bird isnt trained yet? my new rosella (6 months old) is so frightened, he freaks out when i approach him! He has a little thread tangled aroung his foot.. should i force hold him? I dont know if this will destroy our future relationship! any suggestions?
KOS no, I begin the video with a slight disclaimer that if your bird is not yet trained or is still frightened, you have to spend many weeks working with the bird to get it used to your hands, especially your hands being over the bird. However, if your bird is in an emergency situation before it’s trained, you can grab it quickly as I outlined in the video. If a thread is tangled I would try to grab it or if you can’t, take it to a vet ASAP so it doesn’t lose its toe! :)
Take the food away when you are home. And always approach them with food in your hand. There are videos on how to train them to associate with Good and Pleasure and the being with the yummy stuff.
