Walkthrough of my green screen compositing workflow within Davinci Resolve Fusion. I don't know everything about this process but this video covers everything I know. I hope to learn more about this process, and the colour grading process within Fusion.

I've seen quite a few videos on this and got totally lost. The relaxed and clear way you explain everything is very refreshing. Great video, thank you.

Thanks very much for this, it was great how you kept thinking about your audience, showing us which keys/buttons you were pressing, taking it slow. It has really helped me grasp how Fusion works which I can use for more than green screen editing. Highly recommend to. everyone!😀

Thanks for this video. Please let us know where you grabbed the background node or effect. You grabbed “backgrounds” very quickly and I am not sure where you grabbed it from. I know I will figure it out, but others may also wonder where “backgrounds” came from. Thank, Rowby.
@ChaylonCo
@ChaylonCo 8 месяцев назад
The background is just a single frame from a video I filmed previously. You can source your background however you like. Can be an image or a video. Mine was an image and I just dragged it down from the media pool. It created 'MediaIn2' which acts the same as the footage we're working with which is 'MediaIn1'. Both pieces of media get combined with the merge node. Hope that makes sense.

great tutorial never tried the clean plate node yet - will give it a go! The merge node takes the resolution of whatever is in the yellow input clip

Thanks! Yeah the resolution is set by the background. If you know a way to change this let me know.

@@ChaylonCo Insert RESIZE node between background and MERGE node :-)

Instead of dragging the node you can press 1 or 2 on the number row to send it to the first or second preview monitor.

Could you explain me, why when I try to select green color in clean plate nothing selected ?.. Nothing happened...
@ChaylonCo

Make sure you're previewing the clean plate in the monitor. I talk about how to make sure you're looking at the right node in the video.

Great video. Like and Subscribe has been clicked. Do you have any recommendations for the best FPS for video that is going to be used for green screening? Thanks
@ChaylonCo
@ChaylonCo Месяц назад
Your FPS should match your background footage. If you’re deciding both then it’s a project decision. What do you want it to look like? The slower the FPS the more motion blur which can be harder to get a clean key on but still possible so I wouldn’t let that be the decider. I’m usually shooting for corporate clients who want it to look clean and professional so I’ll go for 30fps with a faster shutter angle like 135 degrees. (Just watch out for flicker) If I was filming for something more creative I would still film in 24fps and 180 degree shutter but would need to really make sure the green screen is well lit otherwise the increased motion blur could make things harder. Hope that helps, thanks for the like and subscribe :)

@@ChaylonCoThank you for taking your time to respond with all that. I’m shooting a some green screen stuff with my kid and the background is just an image. I think I’ve got a solid mask selected for her and I, but I’m dealing with some annoying flicker on our body’s edges. I’ll work on your suggestions and maybe trying some better lighting. Again, thank you!

Sounds like camera noise, try applying a denoise to the footage first. I’m not sure if you can apply denoise before you key in Fusion so what I’ve done before is applied denoise and export the whole shot and then brought it back in and applied the key
