I know this is an older clip but I just have to ring in on it...EXCELLENT job! I am an animal grooming teacher and tell you that you would be an awesome dog grooming teacher. You have showed such great patience with the animal, explaining over and over the dog does not hold a grudge. So many people out there think they do, so instead of helping the animal to become relaxed and trusting they are creating the opposite, because the animal thinks the human or owner is a weak leader...now I sound like Cesar Milan!!! I commend you on your great service to the animal world Jun! P.S. you should be a grooming teacher and have students watch you in your process!?

You handle these baby's with such love . You teach them with love, excellent job I leaned a lot from watching you . I have a Bichion who is boss. When I take him to groomer , I have to do it . Sometimes it lasts 2-3days, he gets tired of me working on him , I get tired of him hiding legs under his body . Your awesome👍🏼

I am so impressed, but most of all- so happy you love the dogs and treat them so kindly.

I commented somewhere else about the dog I fostered & then had to adopt because no one else wanted him. So far I have not seen a dog on U-tube or anywhere else as aggressive as my dog Bailey. He is such a fighter that no one will groom him. We do our best, my daughter's hands have been so bit up we are afraid he would be put down because he is so aggressive. We think he was a puppy mill stud and has spent 12 years in a cage. He is now 13, blind, and afraid of everyone and everything. He had 12 teeth pulled right after we got him but he really knows how to use the ones he has. I want to give him some quality of life while he is still alive. I am 76, on disability and my husband is on hospice. Money is tight so it is a problem getting him groomed. He had never been groomed or had his nails clipped and the nails were growing into his pads. My daughter did not want me to adopt him because of his matted hair and his need for grooming. I just felt someone should do something for him after all HUMANS were the ones who made him what he is. It is not his fault, it is HUMANS fault. I could sure use some advice as to how to help this poor, helpless dog. Thanks, Sandy Bear

You are amazing. I'm not sure how you get to the part where you just don't feel fearful and react with anger back. You describe it well, but you aren't bleeding, so he wasn't serious. I don't see scars on your hands, so your body language must be lots better than mine is. I don't do this for a living, but I stand in awe of those of you who do, and maintain love of the animals. This is so much better than what "My Favorite Groomer" did. She had the owners holding their dog in a death grip while she made minimal contact and gave the dog a patchy, hideous shave.

I kind of just went on a matted-dog-shaving-video spree and I must say I haven't come across any in which the groomers had such a great understanding of canine behavior and body language. Keep being awesome and spreading the knowledge ;) And thank you for the advice on how to groom safely, gotta admit I have this cocker who's a world champion at matting faster than you can blink and no amount of brushing can prevent that ;)

There was a cruelty case in UK when a Bichon was left ungroomed- she was in shocking condition- needed completely shaving/scissoring off- and the underlying skin was in awful condition. Well done :)

This is a great video! Super easy to follow, great video-quality, and I learned a lot. I'm wanting to just be able to completely shave my beds at home myself and this was very helpful as I have a Shih-Tzu and a Bichon Frise that frequently get matted. Thanks so much!

This taught me a lot! Was very calm and persistent and my dog really worked with me. He tried biting a lot but there was also moments where he just let me shave away no biting. I was very calm and didn't get mad (even though I used to and I'd flinch a lot). Me showing my dog his attitude wasn't effecting me, and just kept going, really got him to calm down. It was weird but it worked!

Thank you SO MUCH Jun. Your videos are terrific and so are you! You have a lovely way with dogs and I really like your whole persona. The main thing I learned from your demo is that my little Shih Tzu mix (a rescue of course) is too tangled and matted for me to try grooming her myself. I'm very good with my hands and have the right tools, but I'm going to have her done by an experienced groomer first and then maybe later try doing some maintenance on her myself. Maybe I'll practice on some stuffed animals first!

Good job! Doggie looks so much happier and light. One reason he might have been snippy is that the blades might have been getting hot by the end. Also, if they felt a sting anywhere, they may react more when it comes to the face or underbelly. I had that experience then realized my blades were dull and pinching the skin, poor doggie!

Thanks for the tips. I’ve never had a poodle and was messing up his hair with baths. Also this is a great video because my dog isn’t an easy dog to groom and you’re so nice about a dog that does try to bite. My dog is sweet but at the groomers, or me, he gets very unhappy.

Dearest Jun.....God Bless you for helping the rescues....I would leave a private comment but don't know how to do that....I am a senior groomer of 25 years and have a reputation for being able to do the most difficult matted poor doggie souls with compassion and without injury......Jun I am not questioning your knowledge...obviously you are skilled and know your biz...For myself I am very afraid of using ANYTHING OTHER THAN a #10 behind ears, inside of ear flap....on their armpits, tuck up and hygienic clip of his peepee and butt... the mouth area you can easily cut the flew.....If you are not careful a skiptooth blade can cut a nipple I would not use any blade that has gaps (skip tooth) like #7 for example.... I was taught at school the danger areas on a dog that can cause injury by getting the skin caught between the skip toothblade.....this makes sense if you think about it....you know the 7 blade is VERY POINTY and sharp (press it on the tip of your finger) it can rip a dog open....NO WAY SHOULD IT BE USED on sensitive areas....I DO NOT ENCOURAGE A PET OWNER TO ATTEMPT TO GET A MESS LIKE THAT OFF A BABY Inexperienced pet groomers use these dangerous blades without extreme caution and presence of mind....A lot of new groomers are not holding the clipper correctly on the dogs body....as you know the clipper blades MUST REMAIN FLAT ON THE BODY...I have done so many poor dogs that were groomed at Pet Smart where you cant touch their front legs with a clipper or they have had their face cut by their eyes and mouth...Please consider using a 10 dear Jun it is so much safer.....Thank you for your service to dogs....My name is Brandy Pratt My shop business name is DOG HOUSE OF BEAUTY in Chicago (I am the original) established 1998...

This clip may be pretty old, and I may have realized my japanese chin/beagle mix is both super difficult still and also has mats unfortunately, but it was also really sweet in the way you treated the dog with respect and kindness without losing control in any way. That little pup really did seem thankful! I learned a lot and the times I brought Sienna to a groomer (after we lost 3 in a row...) make more sense now. There might be more self-groomers or even rescuers who hopefully find the value in all these tips. Even though this clip is a tad older it makes it even cooler to think of all the puppers you've helped in that time ^_^ and google might lead more here :3 hope you're doing well during these hectic times. It's also a period of time where I think many, many people see more of the value in sharing their home with a fluffball or two. I wish more people would take points from how you treat this one dog though since even my own family is guilty of unfairly lording over our pup and her behaviors. She's nippy but she doesn't hold a grudge haha but for real she'll come back apologize since she know she messed up. Even though some of her puppy brothers and sisters (cousin had a full chin that met a beagle) don't have this behavior and we've tried working on it it's also simply a part of her temperament. Makes it a pain finding groomers since I guess in NY being bit can mess with your license or something (or so we've been told by groomers that dropped her as a pup client lol) but I don't think it makes Sienna a bad dog. Take care and stay safe! Only a shame you couldn't groom her XD

You are an amazing groomer and i agree with you totally..our pets need to know we are in charge and things like this or giving meds or shushing when they are being excited and reaactive when they are not supposed to instead of comforting him or becoming exciteable fearful as if they are in charge we are encouraging unstable behavior and encouraging bad habits we are validating their fears and instead we need to show them by our calm in charge dominance not abuse but pack leadership we are giving them a lifelong gift of feeling trust safety and a happy life.

This is my first time viewing you and I am so impressed. I am 62 and hope to learn to groom dogs and cats when I no longer work full time. This was an absolutely fantastic job. May I ask, how do you find a good grooming school? I would like to groom shelter dogs too, to help them find homes. Thank you so very much

Hi, absolutely fantastic video. I groom a lot of matted dogs and cats. Your video has shown me some great advice. Thank you. Matting is a hard one to grasp. I have so many that are so close to the skin its inhumane for the animal. I usually have to shave them down too. Some owners just get me to remove the matts leaving their poor pet looking horrendous. I haven't found any videos that show the detail and to teach the mannerisms of the dog. Thank you again, Jun for a great video. P.S, Can you do one on feisty cats for me :)
