Hi! I use Mapei grout, it comes in lots of colours. If you don’t know which colour to choose you can’t go wrong with grey. Grout is designed for bathrooms, kitchens and swimming pools so it’s always waterproof. Go to your local tile shop they will go through all the grouts with you. BAL is another brand that I’ve used.
Very well demonstrated, thank you. I quickly went to check for more videos but sadly not much. I have subscribed so that I can be notified when you have more videos.
Thank you for an easy to follow tutorial on grouting a terracotta pot. You advised you use outdoor tile adhesive (NOT ready mixed but the powder form).. do you clean off any excess white dried adhesive before grouting or does the grout automatically cover it?
Firstly so sorry I haven’t answered you before now! No excuse I’m a but rubbish on all things social media! The adhesive I use is actually grey but I think it’s the same for all adhesives that it should come off during the grouting process. So don’t waste your time getting it off beforehand. Hope that helps!
I am doing a pot with pieces of stained glass. what can I do if I find a few pieces with sharp edges? I can't put it to my grinder, but could I use a file or dremel tool for those edges once the pieces are adhered to the pot?
Hi Linda, I use my dremel when they are fixed to my pot before I grout. I usually check it over after I’ve grouted, and if I need to dremel again I will.
I use Mapei outdoor flexible tile adhesive. Make sure you don’t use the fast setting one! Don’t get ready mixed adhesive, make sure it’s the powder that you add water to.
Thank you so much :-) you explain it wunderfull .I am from Germany and my English is not the best , but super for me to understand everything.Thank you 🙂
Anne, do you seal the grout on your clay pot after it has dried? Waiting 3 days? Your studio & gardens are LOVELY! Did you seal your clay pot before you mosaiced it? Many thanks, judy
Hi Judy, I don’t seal my pot with anything before I start. I use tile adhesive to attach my tiles and I don’t want a barrrier between it and my pot so I don’t put anything in it beforehand. When I’ve grouted my pot and let it dry for about 48 hours I sometimes put a tile sealant on it (not always). All the sealant does is stop the grout from discolouring, the tiles themselves don’t need any exes protection. Hope that helps. Anne x
Hi! I use Mapei Flexible grout. All grouts are usually all waterproof because they are designed for bathrooms etc, but I like Mapei grouts the best. Never get ready made, always in powder form and add water. 🌸
Hi Madalina, sorry for the late reply! No it’s totally rainproof. I use waterproof grout. I do put a sealant on when it’s dry. I get it from my local tile shop. If the winter weather is below freezing I put my pots inside if I can.
Have you ever done mosaic on a decobloc (that you add lights to the inside) and add a wee edge around the mosaic design? Could you make a video of that?
