The gaming space on RU-vid is very saturated and competitive, so breaking through requires becoming "known for something", not just being a generic gamer posting generic content behind low quality thumbnails and titles (You'll get better at these as you keep uploading). Try to use successful channels in your gaming niche as examples (don't copy) on what you can do to improve your own content. Compete with yourself, getting a little better every video. Thank you guys for watching and I hope you took something away from this video, it's been 2 years in the making.
Don't give up. I'm gonna try proving myself I can get 100 subs by the end of this year on another channel to prove my friends wrong. So, just follow what he said, and you'll be fine.
I’ve been mainly focusing on shorts, and working on obtaining subs. Just started posting 2 months ago, but I’ve definitely seen growth. Went from 30 to 85 subscribers. AWESOME VIDEO!💯 You’re tips are right on, and help a lot plus validate what I’ve been doing (is working) Slowly but surely. KEEP AT IT EVERYONE! 🤙🏼❤️💛💚🙌🏼 I use inShot to edit.
I just want to say that, of all the videos I've seen that talk about growing channels, this one is BY FAR the most helpful I've seen (including videos from the very channels you recommended). Seriously, hats off to you dude! Me and a ton of others really appreciate the work you've done here!
I have been doing RU-vid for 2-3 years now. I must say that I am still tiny but enjoying myself and doing what I can. I decided to watch this video just for fun I might get but it helped me quite a bit. I thank you for helping us all see some stuff that would be difficult otherwise. Keep up the good work and once again thank you for all your help, not just for this video but for the tutorials and reviews you post from stuff you might buy like a capture card!
I haven’t been at it anywhere is long as u but I can say stay in motivation upload more regularly Mabey once or twice a week and if your content isn’t working then try and do different games. And I understand this is ur language but Mabey pop ur titles into translate and get a broader audience
This video really helped me get 1k views on my first video. I really appreciate you man. Especially those thumbnail tips and fonts at 7:50, but the whole thing is full of good advice. This is probably the only "how to grow your youtube channel" video I've seen that really delivers for gaming channels. THANK YOU!
After two years of uploading mostly gaming videos and struggling BIG TIME, I have decided to re-evaluate what games I upload, especially since I found out the hard way that most of my videos are in SD and not great visually, even though my PS4 is set to record in 1080p. Thanks for the tips, much appreciated.
I just started RU-vid a month ago and it’s going pretty well but just decided to start up gaming because I want to grow more so this video came at the perfect time. Your channel helped me a lot streaming cause that’s how I make my RU-vid content. I still have a long ways to go tho
That’s awesome! If you’re having fun keep going with it, it’s not always necessary to take it so seriously if that’s not what you’re going for right now! 😀
I just got started and it is very scary in the beginning! Especially talking to what feels like an empty room. I decided to go with indie games. Hopefully one day I can make people happy and support other channels as well!! Thank you for this video
The idea part of growing my channel sounds easy but it's tricky for me because I just come up with just saying my thing and playing whatever game I choose
I appreciate this video so much. My only question would be what do you suggest a walkthrough gaming channel should do to grow? I want to be a gaming channel similar to 8-BitRyan/CoreyXKenshin but I don’t think they would be considered walkthrough channels. Your video didn’t mention much on walkthrough channels so I thought I’d ask here. Thanks again for the amazing video.
No joke, I found some valuable resources here. Thank you. I started a RU-vid channel on doing game controllers. I’m very happy doing the job and feel passion. But when I first started, I felt camera shy and still haven’t shown my face. I sounded nervous and bored at first, but in my last video, I used a script and tried to sound a little more enthusiastic and used gifs to add some comedy to the controller reviews. I’m not sure if it’s best to show my face or not, with 58 subscribers and 16 videos in 2 months. I’m slowing down content a little to see what else I can do to get better. The problem is, I can’t find anyone to critique my videos. Is there a website you would recommend that could give feedback to my videos, especially the most recent I published? Thank you for the video.
Thankyouuu so much for this videos man. I have just started my YT channel and i find this really very helpful . I feel you just made it so easy for me to understand the things that i have to work on. Really helpful.
I started my channel for my art. Now I have a separate channel for my art and this one for my a game play. Got to have a niche. Maximum being 3 niches.
It’s tough, one thing you can do is check your retention graph in your analytics for each of your current videos. That will tell you where people are clicking off, use that data to see where you can make tweaks to your new videos. Also don’t forget to check others doing similar videos as you, see their style and content structure to get ideas. 💡
This was one of the most informative videos I have seen thus far that has great advice on how to start and improve a gaming channel! I'm bookmarking this to rewatch and take notes ❤
I’m just starting my gaming channel. This is exactly what I needed. Been getting decent views so far. Now looking to have a better performance on my page.
bruh u open up my mind , u had different niche than other yt creators and your x- factors were on point . I usally watch grow your gaming channel for this type of info but after watching your video about gliip and editing apps( android). here a tip for you make more vids about android devices and make them short bc i feel like long vids is a waste of my time.
About to hit my 2 year anniversary. And you really helped me with settings and elgato set ups and all that stuff so I appreciate you and everything felt to hard and crazy when I started and now I have a good idea I enjoy it and I'm sitting at 319 subs with over 95,000 channel views and I'm really having fun.
Hey MidnightMen, this video is very helpful. I liked the way you explained in detail from top to bottom on how to grow the YT channel. Even I believe not only for gaming channels but can also apply to other channels' format. Keep it up and after watching two of your videos. I am now your subscriber. Cheers & Beers!!!
Great job man. I’ve been on the fence on starting a channel and overthink things. Which ends up with me just pushing it back further and further. You’ve broke things down in such an easy way to understand and I appreciate that. Thank you.
You've helped a noobie through some waves to start my video creation/streaming journey. I've been in and around sports the majority of my life so having to learn something foreign to change the career path can be intimidating. I appreciate you for the setup guides, tips, tricks and ways to grow from nothing. You're the real MVP
Preciate everything you did and said in this video bro, very motivational and u Said alot of important things that I couldn't quite figure out how to do easily such as the background thing for thumbnails. I've only been at it a few months so still lots of learning to be done 💯
Thank you Midnight! I think neesh is gonna be art and animations, I really enjoy doing those, and my audience can have a part of an animation, like voice acting, animating, and more! And people can enjoy my animations and give their opinions!
That sounds wonderful Cyan, now that you’ve figured out what type of content you’ll focus on you can start strategizing how you’ll get that type of audience interested in that content to click and keep making the animated videos better.
Do you have a video on How to just record videos? With an elgato to a ps4? How to record with a mic and audio and If you should record with OBS or the elgato software??
Thanks. Really appreciate your vids, I am just starting out but your advice is being taken on board with a lot of interest. I am becoming quite passionate about all of this and what you are providing is fantastic. Great stuff. Cheers mate.
Thank you for the tips when you mentioned about the balance between personality and value you provide that is something I am working on I have friends that tell me to show more of my personality in videos and the live-streaming part that is something I will do again I was nervous at first that people wouldn't want to see it but I want to give it a try and change things up thanks again
Yo MidnightMan nice upload on how to grow our gaming channels respect for all the hard work & content you put out on your channel I will definitely take your advice bro I started this channel 3 years ago and grew quite a bit am now on 4.28K subscribers now it's time to get serious if I wanna keep growing !!!
Responding to comments is a thing I can relate I always reply to each comment cz to me my viewers are what keeping my channel alive so connecting with them is a good thing ❤
As always , I love your videos bro. I always take something away from your content to better either my stream set up or some like this! How to grow my gaming channel 🙏
I really enjoyed your video, I just don't know what I want to do and I find it difficult to start maintain and finish my projects so I make a lot of recordings through obs when I stream and just upload. I care a little about views I mean you would probably be lying if you didn't say seeing your video being liked isn't a great feeling. Anyone else struggle with formulating a plan or sticking with an idea any strategies that help you?

Appreciate the video, man! I've been a content creator since 2017 (streamer since 2019), and I am currently rethinking EVERYTHING about my channel. Originally I wanted to be a gameplay content creator with a focus on charity (i.e. Jacksepticeye). And while I want to keep supporting charity, all my analytics say that my educational and quick tip videos are WAY more successful and popular than my gameplay videos. (I also need to get better at researching topics in the YT search bar like you said). Going to try refocusing the channel and going forward with a better roadmap. Wish me luck!
Good video. Good advice. Me and my son have a gaming channel that we’re trying to grow. I just recently subscribed to Adobe premier. I’m learning how to edit good videos.
I’ve been on my current channel for almost 8 years and I’m not growing much at all cause I do variety gaming content and I feel as though my chance to grow an audience on this channel is slowly decreasing. I lost my ad revenue last year cause I kept using copyrighted songs because they fit at certain moments. I’ve been stuck at 3.29k for 2 years now and I think it’s time for a change, so I’m gonna head over to a new channel of the same name to get some traction!
Nice! And don’t lose hope! Try to have some focus in the game or type of games you play. Once you grow bigger, then you can do more variety but you need to grow more of a dedicated audience first. Also check out upbeat linked in description for copyright free music, you don’t want to use songs that will effect your monetization status.
Real good pointers here I like the motivation good video put the hard work and dedication in before you know you will be successful everybody has to start somewhere!
I come across your channel and this will definitely help my gameplay in a long run I thought about record mobile games I been playing but with your help you are the best ❤️
