Thanks for info and for those stating that marrow's are not tasty, well everyone to their own. Just thought that I should just say that the compost you used, I purchased and found that like so many other compost makers, I found too many sticks or other items/stuff that should not be in bags of compost.I have found building/making my own to be great way of producing better compost and wonder if you may have considered doing same? Thanks for video, look forward to more.I am based in southeast England. Regards, Maureen

Hi Maureen, I work at a garden centre and one of the perks of the job is getting bags of compost for a real cheap price. I have made my own in the past but the results weren't so good, so I just stick with the stuff from work. Cheers Adam

Well, I started watching, nodded off for a while but awoke to hear one or two slightly amusing comments along with the odd adventurous camera shot, but hey, what a great vid. It's a shame you've had rabbits, slugs and other vermin nibbling at your big beast, but what a whopper to treasure. I think it was all about the comfrey tea mix being hurled into the volcano, what else could it have been? Thumbs up from the left coast 🙂

Well I started reading this comment, got bored... checked the Premier League table, saw where Leicester were which made me chuckle came back to the comments and noticed they became slightly more complimentary. I continued to read on and agreed with your point about rabbits and slugs, would also like to add that the constant rain we've had for most of the summer boiled my urine, which may or may not have been a secret ingredient involved in growing such a whopper which in turn has resulted in me giving a thumbs up to you from the right coast 👍

Hi Adam, An interesting experiment. It must have been disheartening to find the second marrow attacked by slugs. It seems to have been the most prevalent garden pest this year. Glad your perseverance succeeded and I shall be keen to know the weight of the marrows in your next instalment!

Hi Robert, always good to hear from you. The slugs were out in force this year due to all the rain we've had. Fortunately that second marrow made it and you'll see the next instalment this weekend where I weigh it. Thanks for the comments

Good job Adam, always fun to set a challenge in the garden. I can't help wondering if your green-fingered dad produced an even bigger one!

i don't know why anyone would bother growing something as tasteless as a marrow, never mind a giant one, but whatever floats your boat

Ok, just to be clear - this wasn't about growing a marrow to eat, this was my attempt to beat my previous go at growing a Giant Marrow which I did about 5 years ago and in my next video I weigh this specimen to see if I was successful or not. My aim is to enter the Malvern Giant Vegetable Show next year and compete with some of the serious growers in that competition. Here is a link to a video that will explain what I'm aiming for next year ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eWZMdJyeMa8.html 👍👍

@@AllotmentGrowHow Oh I didn't think you were planning on eating it (I mean, why would you?) It was more "why pick something as utterly useless as a marrow?" If it was a giant onion, or a giant carrot I could understand completely - people actually like onions and carrots.
