Stitch to Pitch is a project that encourages young people to get into the fashion industry, and equipping them with both business and practical skills. In this video we speak to Gbemi Okunola - CEO of AloNuko Bridalwear. Gbemi, who started in the industry very young, talks of how she juggled her passion for the creative field side by side with her parents academic expectations.
Here are five top tips:
1. Learn to sew by taking garments apart and reconstructing them.
2. You don't need to go to university to be successful creative.
3. See the value in your work and match it with the right price point.
4. Focus on getting the name out there before seeking to earn money.
5. Get work experience with fashion houses in the same category.
