Well put!! The lawn care part was hilarious 😄😂. When I first started producing almost two decades ago, music producers were encouraged to learn an instrument and be versatile, but to be fair this was to prepare producers to work with major labels where a producer would work with multiple recording artists (signed to that label). Plus industry music producers were the only real examples/digital mentors for many to model after. Fast forward to the past 5 years & learning an instrument isn’t necessary (if it ever really was lol), plus most music producers work independently online and operate as small businesses which means music is tied to “business” or “meeting the consumers need” so strategies aligned with acquiring the right customers & keeping them (satisfied) overshadows the need to be musically diversified. To sum it up: Music Producers have to be ok with providing this type of service to (meet) artists (needs). It’s a tough truth to hear if you’re creative & enjoy producing multi-genres (like I do), but again this model is not about the producer’s desires, but about the producer helping someone else’s (aka the artist) fulfill theirs!
Yoo Ryan your content is so entertaining and educational at the same time. Great work! I have to agree with everything in this video based on our experience with type beats👍
After watching this video I kinda lost the want to gain an audience on RU-vid for my beats. I really enjoy making my type of beats (whatever that is) and what's the point of uploading them if they don't get heard by anyone. 🤷🏾 All in all this is some great info I wish I heard years ago.
biggest piece of advice is to check out ohgoshleotus. The one way you can gain an audience without posting type beats is to build an audience around yourself as a music producer. This means getting in front of the camera and making videos in the same style of Ohgoshleotus, but its way more rewarding and you're not stuck in the type beat game. When you build a brand off content like ohgosh, people are there for both himself and the production
i think most producers (hopefully) don't go into making a beat thinking about making it in the style of an artist but rather just think afterwords which type of artist to label it as afterwords. this way you're not limiting your creativity but rather just using the type beat format as a marketing tool, not a creative compass
Great video and dope content ! just subbed , my favorite part of this video is def 05:05 🤣 Ive been uploading around 50 beats by now and I try to enjoy the journey of making better quality music but hey of course you wanna reach more viewers and subs so you not spending hours to just make your closes friends listen to it just a few second ... When you talk obout doing the same type beats , that part makes me a bit sad cus I don't want to stick to one type of beat even if I sometimes feel that all my beats sounds the same. and I don't even do type beats.. ✌🏽
Do you think making playlists if you do multiple genres is a good enough work around to sticking to one genre or no? Also what if you're a channel that has already been doing multiple genres? Is it chalkt at this point or do you think I can just move forward and stick to one genre from here on out
Thanks for the video Ryan, it's great! Do you think that type beat has to refer only to a specific artist, or can refer also to a specific genre, like "boom bap type beat" or "90s type beat"? Could that be effective too? Thanks and keep on with the great videos!
I've been posting mostly juice wrld and the kid laroi type beats and a few lil tecca and lil mosey type beats here and there. as of recent I've been getting into making tecca, ssgkobe and sofaygo type beats. do you think its a good idea to post those type of beats on a second channel and have fewer uploads or keep everything on the same channel? (i usually post every day)
use same synth, same samples, same patterns, same tempo, same key, same arrangement and upload same artist type beat year after year. Nice :D Sounds my dream :d Don´t Forget remember copy all those from youtube videos and smack kick and 808 like decap tells you.
Holy sheez, then i should open multiple yt channels for my production. How can a producer be a bot for making a same artist beat. Producers are versatile anyway. That versatility is the one thing which makes the musicians to do more creative. The only fix for this is to open multi youtube channel lol. Anyway dope content heate♥️✨
This is probably the best video on RU-vid about RU-vid game for type beats .. I've seen a lot of video on this topic and I feel this one is the most detailed one so far !!
So what if as a producer you want to experiment with other styles? Industry producers usually don't stick to the same artist every song or even the same type of beat. What do you recommend to those who want to try new styles of beats?
Wow that’s crazy why not just do playlist ? I mean I do want to please my audience but i the same type of music over and over and over But at the same time it’s understandable because I’m used to Kanye or Playboi Carti or Nicki Minaj rapping but if one day I click on they channel and I see that it’s a jazz or country I be like WTF 😅so yeah I can see why the audience can be a little confused
Pick an artist that isnt blow up yet. Make only those type beats and listen all of his music. When you are making beats around a specific sound, it's easier 🤘
if you can do is consistently over a long period of time sure. as for upload time, you can look into the audience section of RU-vid and see what time your viewers are online
What if you’ve posted multiple styles of beats in the past and then start to focus on one. Does it hurt having all those older unrelated beats on your channel? Because I do 🤣
