Well done Rosy! I never tried bitter gourd. Will try next year. This year we did few other vegetables and had a good yield. So next year will try this for sure
Cómo estás! I see you are getting really good. this content is enjoyable. Excellent too! I watched your channel more often now. I don't usually watch till the end but for your video, that's the best part
Being in New Zealand, I was particularly interested in your video as most of the other ones on YT are from tropical climates. I will be planting out my commercially grown seedling tomorrow. Will the melons you harvested have viable seeds, or do you need to leave them on the vine until they dry up? Thanks.
Hi, thanks for visiting my page , first time I got the seeds from Amazon , and subsequently I left few melons to ripen on the vine for the seeds to be viable for next year’s sowing.
Thank you so much Julia .Bitter gourds taste bitter unlike marrow or squash 😊 More information in the link: www.webmd.com/diet/health-benefits-bitter-gourd
Your video is excellent what size is your planter I grown in pots still learning from your videos but not sure how to give chicken pallets some say liquid as you sprinkle in planter
Hi Rosy, when did you start the germination process and how did you go about it. Did you soak the seeds, cracked the seed or do anything in particular to them. Also did you water it with anything in particular. We are now in April - I guess it's too late for this year. Thank you in advance.
Hi Chi, thank you for visiting my page. I let the seeds sit in wet tissue in an air tight container for about 3 days to germinate, then transfer the germinated seeds to a smaller pot for saplings to come up. I in fact I started the process in April indoors due to the frost and fed them with chicken pellets. 😊
Hi I am excited with my new plants on my windowsill and a bit worried to put them out as the weather is not great this year. Should I brace it and put them out?
Hi…bitter gourds don’t come back after winter in cold countries. I sow new seeds every year. I normally start to sow indoor beginning of April and plant it outside in planters after the last frost probably end or beginning of May accordingly. Now is the right time to sow. Hope this help. Good luck with your gardening and keep me posted on your harvest please. Thanks 😊
Hi Rosy you did a great job in 🇬🇧 climate. just wondering what is the name of this bitter melon variety and from where can I purchase seeds? Thanks a lot.
Hi MSI...thank you so much :) I got the seeds from Amazon for my first planting. it was the light green long variety probably the Chinese bitter melon. After my first harvest I started sourcing seeds from the vine in my garden. Excellent after seeing your video I have also sown some krella seeds but it was bit late still they are 2inch high I got about 10seeds germinated wish me luck how many plants you sown in that place with good harvest
Hi Sobia, I live in London. Of course you’ll be able to grow😊 Get the seeds germinated and place the saplings in a glasshouse or in a place where it is warm. Take it outside after the last frost has gone and you will for sure get a good harvest. Good luck with your gardening.
Hi, I am from dublin Ireland and I have started gardening after watching your videos to give it a try. In starting there was no problem as plants was inside but once I put it outside after 15 days small bitter gaurd started yellow then all smaller bitter are becoming yellowish.. don't know what could be the reason. Appreciated for your help. Thanks Moni
Hi Moni, thank you for watching the video. Leaves turning yellow might be due to sudden exposure to excessive heat or scarcity of water. As the weather this year was in high 20’s, when I kept my saplings outside, the leaves started yellowing and drying up. I then kept them in partial shade and exposed the saplings slowly to heat instead of giving them a sudden shock of heat and now they are healthy and started to bear baby fruits. Fruits turning yellow when they are young might be due to pests/diseases or lack of pollination that calls for hand pollination. Hope this helps and good luck in your gardening Moni😊
Hi Yong thanks for watching 😊 For germination I usually keep the seeds in a wet tissue and pop them in air tight container, let it for 3-4 days, making sure that the tissue is wet enough (not dripping wet) for germination
Go to an Asian shop that sells bitter gourd and buy one that has started turning yellow. Split it open and remove the seeds from their red covering. They will be viable for planting for a year if dried properly so they do not rot. I did it and every seed I planted germinated into plants and it cost me nothing as the shop gave me a couple free as they were too ripe to sell. Live in UK and always plant then in a green house. The plants will not grow if temperature falls below 10 degrees C. So do not plant early in spring. Soak seeds in tepid water for a couple of hours before sowing for better germination.
Sorry to bother you again what is the name of your krella seeds I brought seeds from Pakistan but leaves are very small not like yours but I learned a lot from you many thanks again
Awww, it’s no bother at all Mohammed 😊 I got the Chinese bitter melon seeds from Amazon for my first year of sowing. The young leaves are small, thin, and usually light green in color. The color changes during the development from light to dark. Thanks and you’re more than welcome Mohammed.😊
Hi Subhash.… glad you visited my page😊 You can sow them indoors in mid April and bring the saplings out after the last frost for a good yield. This year, in fact I sowed them indoors late May. And because we have a good summer this year I see a fantastic growth. I also add manure every fortnight to boost the growth. 😊
Hi Rosie I am envious. I have tried and tried, and i just cant get my seeds to germinate. I have tried out two or three methods including yours. I got Packet seeds, Fresh seeds. No luck😢 What am i doing wrong?
Hi Mehboob…place the air tight container of seeds in a warm place preferably close to a radiator. DM on my instagram please instagram.com/hidaisyrosy?igshid=MWQ2ODkyMjM=

I read your comments saying that you bought from Amazon. Do you have the link to the seller as most Amazon ones have bad reviews. Thank you for helping out. Regards Maria
