In this video we look at various Chrysanthemum Varieties and how to grow them. These are a plant that flower at the end of summer into winter.
One of the top tricks to great Chrysanthemum flowers is to prune them back until late summer so that in Fall/Autumn they are ready to put on impressive blooms.
They are stimulated into flowering as the days shorten and the weather cools. Two main types are what we call 'Hardy Mums' that can easily be grown in the garden, and then the Exhibition types which take extra care.
Flower forms differ greatly and exhibition Chrysanthemum are classified according to flower form.

I bought exhibition mums seeds, and lots of them, what does it mean the seed will not stay true from the parent plant? will it change the whole variety? meaning I will might get simple chrysanthemum or just the color and size? can someone please finally explain this to me?

Usually to produce the same plant from Exhibition Mums you grow them from cuttings. So if you want identical plants, look for cuttings. As these seeds are from selected forms of hybridised Mums, the plants from the seeds produced MAY very likely vary from the parent plant as they will have been pollinated. How much variation is a matter of luck. I doubt you will get a simple chysanthemum, however most likely not identical to the parent in all cases. It is a possiblity you may even get a better plant from some seeds.... Where are you located ??

Hello Bonnie, it depends on the climate zone. In warmer zones they can survive. But not heavy frosts, freezes and very wet cold winters. In colder zones, dig them up when it starts to get cold, cut the foliage right back and store them in a box/tray covered with compost, soil or coir peat until spring.
