Sir this video was like a movie whose ending is very different from what expected. The topic was so exciting that one can't afford any distraction from the screen, so capturing. And of course the first question that arose in mind was that from where the new shoot would grow ??? Nice experiment, reflecting "TOTIPOTENCY" of plant tissues from any site and also throwing some light on the presence of PERICYCLE LAYER at junctional points or nodes in a plant that gives rise to the roots. Thanks for sharing such an amazing and informative presentation reminding us of our Biology Lab days.
What is the use of propergating leaves, if new sprouts are not coming ?? I was trying this and awaiting new leaves for more than an year. Still waiting without any hope. Please respond.

Since June I kept leaf of croton in water for making new plants out of it but know there is no use of keeping it if we can't grow a plant out of it. Thanks for sharing the video.
Thanks for the videos. I have 10 leaves I placed in water that I change weekly, they are in a bright window without direct sunlight since 9-9-2020. They still haven't rooted however they are just as alive as the day I put them in. Wish I could include a picture so you can see I definitely got the correct part down to the stem so I'm really not sure why it's not rooting. Is there anything I can do to help it root? ✌️&❤️

I have never heard of crotons, then quickly realised I have several in my garden. Nice colours but difficult to make into a bush, always too leggy or die

Good day..just wanted to ask how many months did the Croton leaves have branch.....it's been a months I wonder why until now no branch I already transferred them to pots (leaves with roots)unlike zz plants they have already .....tnx for your reply more power....

As he said, it is a fun experiment for children to see the roots of a plant. Also it exposes the people on RU-vid trying to convince you it can be done. There are 100's of them but they never show you the final plant. :)
Maine single leaf propogation k liye rakhi h, abhi 3 din hue hain, jo pani k baahar leaf ka part tha vo sookh gaya, baki theek h, kya abhi bhi propogate ho jaegi?

Thank you - I am very interested in seeing how this turns out. Never knew the leaf could sprout but generally not grow into a plant. Is this because it is a cultivar?
I am on a plant propagation group on Facebook and I had seen recently there, that some Hoya Kerri (heart shape leaf) may also have a propagated leaf with roots which will never grow into a full plant. Tipped me off that the croton leaves I had propagated last summer will NEVER grow a plant. Going in the garbage. Useless to me. Personally I don't know why someone would want this. But I have two! :D
Croton leaves can root and develop into a full plant only when they have a auxiliary bud...such leaves which grow roots but never a whole plant are called blind cuttings

Croton plants do not like to be moved and when the environment around it changes or they are moved, they can quickly go into shock which results in leaf loss, hanging leaves etc.

Why waste time on the leaves if you are not going to get an actual plant. Some people are making you believe that you can get a plant by using this technique.
