We struggled with seed hulls and medium all tangled in our basil where every pinch had brown bits. A miraculous change in overall quality occurred from a day-and-a-half in blackout after germination. 99% of seed hulls and soil entanglements were GONE. Since dill/basil are both leafy herbs, a bit of legginess and the first set of true leaves do not turn the microgreens bitter, but actually add a touch of mature flavor.

Funny this came out today. Last evening I was wondering if dill could grow as a microgreen so I took the spice jar of dill seed from my cupboard and am doing a test row in a small soup container. I'll have to buy some fresh seed and give it a go Thanks for this video! 👍🏻

Yet another wonderful video. I have two questions: 1) Do you care about the PH level of the filtered water?, 2) How do the seeds get their nutrients to grow? Thank you,

No. Seeds have nutrients in themselves

Thanks for the great result. Please add your parameters to the grow table chart you post on the website. If a special seed mix or generic please specify as Europe can buy USA seeds due to lack of passports registered in the states. Thanks

Love your videos. Dill and lettuce supposedly need light to germinate, Yet you had no problem with your germination in the dark? I have seen other videos where growers plant directly under light omitting the dark stage. Just wondering what you think since your method was very successful?

Hello! I would like to ask if the 1020 tray is shallow or deep? I tried to figure it out by watching the video, but I couldn't figure it out. That's why I haven't dared to order yet. Thanks for the reply.

Like the comment below I was just wondering about dill microgreens since the dill in my outdoor garden I done for the year and I too love dill in many dishes. I am curious about your H202 mix. What percent H202 do you use? On another topic I watched one of you videos some time ago where you added an anti fungal recipe in the comments but I did not write it down or make note of which video it was. Can you add that recipe here? Thanks for all the great information.

Lightly bury these as well as adding weight. it will help keep the hulls in check.

How have you not got mold by not using hydrogen peroxide. I have so many fans and everything but mold would always grow underneath in black out.

Do you have any tips for Dill microgreens that stop the seed husk from staying attached? I've got some dill growing and it's around 7cm tall on day 13 (no true leaves yet) but the seed husks are still attached on about 90% of the dill. Unfortunately the setup I have makes putting a tray on top impossible.

You just answered your question. The weighted tray period helps the baby plant root itself and break free the hull. Even just a little weight…a cut piece of rigid plastic, metal, trex decking etc. All about the even pressure. No need to make the left one heavier than the right, either! 😅

Do you normally leave the seed hulls on them? We have a few trays of Dill right now for a customer and the hulls are still stuck on a lot of them. I'm torn because it seems like it will take a while to remove that many hulls.

We will leave them! You can also try brushing your clean hand across the canopy to help release the seeds... they do add great flavor, so we think of it as a bonus treat :)
