Really impressed with your 100 day hydrangea project. Gives me hope that the cuttings I propagated early in 2019 (and looking very similar to your starting plant) will flower by Christmas 2019. I’m hoping to eventually put each plant into a large pot, about 30 inches diameter. Can you advise if I should just pot into progressively larger pot or straight into a 30 inch pot? Many thanks.
@GardeningUpbeat
@GardeningUpbeat 4 года назад
@Pamela Banks, thank you so so much for your feedback, really appreciate it and feedback like this really motivate us to work hard...so, thank you once again :-) 30 inches diameter is absolutely okay for Hydrangeas and honestly saying, it's really huge container. Definitely you can use 30 inches pot n no need to use much larger pot. You have seen that I just used 6 inches diameter pot and she did well. Wishing you good luck but, please note that Hydrangeas do well in Summer Season. Thank you once again and plz let me know if you have any questions :-)

Thanks so much for your advice. I’m in Melbourne Australia so summer is in December. Hydrangea flowering time!! Seeing how beautiful your blooms are in a small pot, I might reconsider and put my plants into smaller pots, say 20 inch. Cheers!!

@@montysmum6310 , that's great to know and I am 100% sure that you would get lots of bloom on your plant this season :-) Definitely, 20 inch pot would work well but 30 inch pot won't harm as well (like u planned before) :-) Anyway, good luck and plz let me know if you have any questions and I would get back to you ASAP. @GardeningUpbeat
@GardeningUpbeat 4 года назад
@Osmer Cardenas, Thank you very much for your feedback and say "Hi" to your wife. Hydrangeas are truly gorgeous :-) To sow the seeds, I mostly use 85% Cocopeat + 15% Vermicompost and get good results. I believe, Cocopeat won't be available in Miami. So, you can take 80% peat moss + 20% Perlite or Vermiculite. February-March would be the ideal time to grow from seeds. Plz let me know if you have any question and I would get back ASAP! Thank you once again :-)

@GardeningUpbeat 4 года назад
@Anum Khan , thank you very much for the awesome feedback and thank you for watching. Well, Hydrangeas mostly bloom in Summer and ideal time to sow seeds is Spring. But it wouldn't hurt if we do it from Mid- End Feb onward. However, you can still sow some seeds in October itself and hopefully they would bloom somewhat earlier. Plz also note that, Hydrangea seeds need light to germinate and so plz don't cover the seeds with soil. Just press the seeds on soil a bit so that wind can't disturb them. Plz let me know if you have any question and I would get back to you ASAP! Thank you once gain :-)

In the month of March I transplanted some of my Hydrangea plants into my garden from pots as they had outgrown the pots. In spite of the heat they did fairly well though I had to water them twice a day. With the onset of the monsoons they were OK. However, after heavy rains they started loosing some of their beautiful leaves .I am afraid of them rotting. How can I save them? The remaining hydrangeas which are still in pots seem OK. Is it necessary to uproot them and put them back in pots ? Please advise. Fungicide etc to be used.

@GardeningUpbeat
@GardeningUpbeat 4 года назад
@Anthony Pereira, As per I remember (pics which you sent me), those are Smooth Hydrangea and you can prune them now as well as have plenty of time and they are going to look bushy. Better to do in March month. For Big leaf Hydrangea, we can do as soon as it stops blooming and it might depend on climate. For example, in my place they almost stop blooming from around June end. So, I can Prune in June or July. I hope that helps..plz let me know if you have any question and I would be glad to answer that :-)

@Susanta Ray, It's because of High Temp and plant is not getting enough water. While watering, plz water thoroughly and make sure water drain out well. The soil shouldn't dry out at any cost or else, it's going to droop immediately. Please also make sure soil is not too wet either...that's why we need to use soil which is well drained and can hold enough water as well.

@Sarbani Mukherjee, Thank you Ma'am and 4 hours morning sunlight would be more than enough for Hydrangeas. Good luck :-)

l have a quart size vanilla strawberry hydrangea. its cold out here in fresno ca - should a plant it in a larger pot for outside? im concerned about the weather or should l keep it in the house.

CA..it's too cold there and it would be better to keep indoor though some hydrangea varieties are cold hardy down to negative -20 degrees Fahrenheit. You can repot in growing time..and it would be early spring. Thank you!

Hello,i repotted my hydrangea in yard where it rains ...the foliage is ok but the plant doesnt seem happy.i wonder if they are over water stressed. How can i revive my hydrangea to bloom flowers??😕
@GardeningUpbeat
@GardeningUpbeat 4 года назад
@Steve Well, Thank you for your question. I believe it's just a repotting shock and since you grew your plant in your yard, it would be able to handle the situation much better way. Having said that, I also hope water drains well in the area where you grew it. Just watch it carefully for next few days and if you don't see any improvement, I would recommend you to grow it in a place where water drains well. But, this is unlikely to happen. Good luck :-)

Just bought a hydrangea seedling and noticed that the soil was infested with tiny white worms and white termites(?).Do i need to apply insecticide on it? I am afraid it would hurt the roots

My hydrangea plants not flowering still.I t almost 1yr now .can u please help
@GardeningUpbeat
@GardeningUpbeat 4 года назад
@Prema Maben, Sorry for taking ime to reply :-( Not blooming for 1 year...that's strange and I can understand how it feels to wait for more than a year to see the blooms. If it's not blooming, there are 3 possibilities - 1. You got a Big leaf Hydrangea - it blooms only in the old wood. I also had to wait for more than 1 year to get blooms in one of my Hydrangea plant because it was Big leaf Hydrangea. I have explained it here - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pVe72f7iarM.html (Sorry for the loud BG music, I have stopped using it in my new videos) 2. Soil is not rich enough 3. Not getting enough sunlight or bright light I believe, you can adjust few things n it would bloom soon :-) Anyway, I am going to do one video where I would be showing my preparation to get maximum flowers on my Hydrangea plants. Thank you :-)
