M5000: me too! Jeb is the reason I started my Kratky hydroponics...and now have a food forest in my guest shower, starters in my living room, and an herb, salad, and tomato garden in my kitchen! Of course, my non frustrated gardener friends think I'm crazy when I tell them I visit all my plants several times a day, just to watch them grow, LOL. Now I'm giving away rooted cuttings and seedlings to several others. I've got so much basil, catnip, tomatoes and cilantro that I'm pruning every week.

I've never used that but I'm sure it works fine. Make sure your plants are getting enough nutrients later in life. They are going to drink it up,like crazy when they get big.

+Matt Garver 22 gallons would be enough in cool weather and/or if you have rain. I had three big rains that refilled the tote completely. I know some folks suspect this would cause problems with the roots breathing, but it didn't (probably because the temps were cool so water held more oxygen). In hot weather I think it might need more water at the end. I harvested a second set of shoots; I don't think you would want 1 per tote unless you love the little shoots and leaves. I like the first harvest best, so I would grow 2 per tote. Good luck!

About 1 gallon. These are all Kratky style, so nutrient isn't changed, it's just topped off as necessary. For the Broccoli and Kale I never touched the reservoir until the end.

I've grown it (hydroponically) in summer and winter and it turned out great both times. I tried growing it in the ground twice now and one year the rats ate it and this year the rain stressed it. I suspect bitterness is from stress or harvesting too late, but I don't enough about broccoli to be sure.

Too hot, too dry, or just unlucky genetics. Not every broccoli plant comes out the same. I've got one that is absolutely delicious, while another growing in pretty much the same conditions is not nearly so delicious. Cool weather really helps with making it taste better too. The plants seem to produce more sugars as a form of antifreeze for them to survive winter frost.

Hobby Hydroponics I'm pretty certain that anything by Mozart, Bach, Beethoven and the like are all copyright free material, but it does also possibly depend on the band who played the music as well as the distributor... I.e Sony, paramount etc.. usually classical music is free game from what I've heard anyway...
