@@FoundSheep-AN Hallow is an app that provides scriptures, challenges, meditations, rosary readings etc for Catholics. Pretty sure you don’t have to pay for things like the consecrations, but if you want to listen to certain music, or different lectures, it’s locked behind a paywall of like $60/year. There’s still more than enough free content on the app to make it worthwhile for all Catholics to enjoy though. Highly recommend checking it out.
Hi I watched a few of yours videos and I’d like to share my devotional with you… My name’s Raymond, I’m a grateful believer in Jesus Christ. I struggle with liars, non-believers, and humility. The Religion I found the most faith in is Christianity by God’s grace, surrendering to our Lord Jesus Christ for taking on all my sins as He went to the cross on Calvary. I became homeless about a year ago to briefly describe the reason I’d say the cause was the recent pandemic. I was isolated as a cause of quarantine and my soul was distressed, for I wasn’t able to fulfill the longing as it says in the Bible “to love your neighbor as yourself”. So I was sinning against myself, and so it was starting to seem as I was being tossed “to and fro” by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. So, I began to exhort my faith and I stood still in spirit that I may not be moved by those afflictions. Then I finally picked up my cross as a follower of Jesus and fellow brother in Christ and found refuge here at (homeless shelter). My past with addictions, to start I am ten years clean of methanphetamine and one year clean of alcohol and cocaine. I was smoking weed while on the streets sojourning. I also struggle with sexual immorality as the passion of lust is not of God’s will, but as I am being washed and cleansed by the word day by day I’m coming into control of my body in holiness and honor. Jesus has been my only source of rehabilitation for He is the one I desire to be in the likeness of. He’s my healer and redeemer and there’s no addiction and no type of condemnation He can’t save anyone from. So I can say I’m glad to be sober in mind, body, and spirit. As of that I received my calling to serve the Lord, to hold on to His precepts and study His word with steadfastness in prayer. Being forgiven of my past sins and being alive in Christ, as a new creation ready for every good work. Christ has no body on but yours; no hands but yours; no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes through which the compassion of Christ must look out on the world. Yours are the feet with which He is to go about doing good. Yours are the hands with which He is to bless His people. Amen. 🙏
Great video, though there are far too many wonderful Marian devotions to mention! As an Englishman I intend to make a pilgrimage at some point to the Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham. I also love the icon of Our Lady of Silence. When it comes to prayer, I’ve found St. Louis’ methods for praying the Rosary from The Secret of the Rosary very helpful, especially the method where the Hail Mary changes with each mystery to tie the verbal and mental prayer together (good for those of us not so inclined to imaginative prayer). Then there’s the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary which is good for those who want to pray the hours but can’t afford the 3 volume Divine Office or who just want a Marian flavour to the daily liturgy. Finally, there’s the Akathist to the Mother of God which is a beautiful ancient prayer service you can sing at home, very popular in the Eastern Rites. Most Roman Catholics don’t know of it but it’s worth checking out as the melody is easy to learn and the prayers are reverent and beautiful.
Those of us who are Protestant look at this from the outside and we can't see how this is just 'honoring Mary'. This goes far beyond what any human being warrants in terms of honor. There is only one person we should grow in devotion towards and that is towards God.
This looks like worship to you because this is the way you guys treat God. He is properly worshipped in Catholicism, the Church Jesus instituted in 33AD.
This is a bit like saying you shouldn’t be devoted to your family or the poor because it would take away from your devotion to God; on the contrary, you should love and serve Him by serving them. In traditional Christianity we don’t view the Saints as in competition with the Lord, but acknowledge their worth and celebrate them as icons of Christ, which is perfectly in-keeping with the Lord’s own teaching. This is indeed worship, but not all worship is idolatry as the English term ‘worship’ is very broad in its applications (best to go back to Latin if you want to get precise). There is worship due to the Saints and then there is the sacrificial worship due only to God - I think the problem Protestants face is that when you remove sacrifice from the equation the hierarchy gets muddled and it starts to look like zero sum game.
I the earliest of Days, the word Pray meant to ask a favor, and so when "Praying to Mary, Catholics are asking the most perfect Human ever created by God, Mary, who was the tabernacle bearing His Son, Jesus, to guide us and help us grow closer to Jesus. It is true we don't need Mary to have a relationship with Jesus, becasue by Jesus's Grace we are saved 100%. But just like we don't need friends to enjoy a hobby, it is more enjoyable to things with friends of a like mind. We are known by the company we keep, and when it comes to Loving our Savior, there can be no better company, then to love Jesus, doing so in the Company of His own Mother! Mary lived a perfect life, as she was perfectly aligned with the will of Jesus. This is something I am working towards, and the Faith and actions, the way of life of Mary, is something I am working towards, and Mary's example is one of the greatest guides I can have; that's why I choose to align myself with Mary.
@@TheReligiousHippie That is a nice statement of faith, but the evidence of Church history doesn't bear it out. No, that is not the way it *looks to us*. That is the way it is instituted in Scripture. Only God alone is to be honored and served in a religious context. You can find this over and over again in the OT and in the NT where angels and even the Apostles rebuke those who bow to them.
@@theowilmot1841 No, it isn't like that. We are obviously using the word 'devotion' in a religious context. It doesn't matter if you view the saints in competition with God or not, there are certain things that are due to God alone. The New Testament doesn't make any distinction in worship.
Hi Amber Rose! I really enjoy watching your videos and I have a suggestion for a video about Saints. My favourite Saint is Saint Philomena. She is such a powerful saint and a beautiful authority for young people. She is a Virgin and Martyr, who died in 302 at the age of 13. Her intercession has helped me a lot and I love to call her my friend and the beloved Heavenly sister. Unfortunately, she isn't known that much (at least where I live) among Catholics. It would be really nice if you could make a video about her. Thank you for all the amazing, inspiring things you do! May God bless you!
@@alicemalice44 Saint Philomena is popular in Egypt :). Here in Poland she is known too. Blessings from Poland 🇵🇱 and my catholic lifestyle and freedom channel! You might enjoy it!!
I ve done Consecration onJanuary 1st this year. I ll do it again🎊🎉 my favorite devotion is Our Lady of Sorrows, after the Rosary. I always feel like I dont love her much or idk ..the Rosary usually gets boring, for me but I try to pray it every day anyways... Hate it when I m sooo distracted....🙏
The assumption of Our Lady and my country's Independence Day falls on the same day. So we get a public holiday here in my country 🤭. Must say we are quite lucky. So the mass here is for both the feast and Independence Day followed by the flag hoisting outside churches. Ps: this is out of topic but your nail paint looks good on you
As an Anglican, I'm not allowed to pray the catholic rosary, but I enjoyed hearing about your rosary traditions. We have a rosary, and while it's not to Our Lady, prayer beads are an ancient tradition that everyone should use in their prayer life.
I liked your tip about "kissing" our lady; that is something I do, and feel a bit "edgy" doing it, but you made this so natural, "What Mother doesn't like being kissed." I agree. Excellent tips.
Very informative video, Amber. In addition to the rosary, i can also recommend the chaplet of the seven sorrows of Mary. It's quite an old devotion that pretty much faded away, but it has made a bit of a comeback. If memory serves, Our Lady spoke about it at Kibeho. God bless.
@@TheReligiousHippie fair. Thanks so much for all your videos - being a traditional catholic is really hard when it feels like all of society is against you, seeing someone else around my age share those views is so helpful. God bless.
Absolutely love this video Amber! I definitely recommend “True Devotion to Mary” and “The Secret of the Rosary” by St. Louis De Montfort. It feels crazy (in a good way 😅) that I came across this video since I’m actually in the process of doing a Marian consecration myself! Thanks so much for sharing 😊
Thank you for tips! My favorites are the Immaculate Heart of Mary because I feel very comforted and Our Lady of LaSallette, I like to pray the Rosary in French.🌟
Brother Kevin made his final vows right ON the Feast of the Assumption; the day of, not the following day. 😉🙃😊🙏🏽 The Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady is actually a Holy Day of Obligation. This year however, the day landed on a Monday so the diocese says you don't really have to go. But it's still a Holy Day so you can still choose to go to Mass.
