How to grow long natural hair this winter

Summary of the tips:
1. Be gentle when drying your hair. An ultra-fine microfiber hair towel is perfect for this! Also, refrain from going outside in the cold with super wet hair! Radical temperature change can be damaging to your hair cuticles overtime So no frozen hair this winter!.
2. Deep condition regularly if not weekly in order to fortify your hair with moisture. Add humectants like honey or agave nectar to give your deep conditioner a boost! And if your not protein-sensitive. Try a protein-deep conditioner every once in a while to keep things extra-fortified.
3. Trim your hair. Split ends are like fake friends...you know what to do. Cut them off.
4. Satin everythang. A satin pillowcase reassures you that your natural hair won't snag and dry out throughout the night on an otherwise cotton pillowcase.
5. Find a leave in conditioner that works with your porosity level.

6. Be perceptive. If your leave in is thicc, prepare to use a strong enough shampoo/clarifier to clean your hair. If your scalp is dry, readjust any oils you apply that might be blocking moisture out. If your hair is dry, your leave in may not be good at sealing in moisture...switch it up! It's all trial and error, but listen to your hair and respond adequately.
7. Protective style. Choose a style whether it's braids, twists, or whatever...Stick to it for a week or two. Moisturize every 3-4 days by spritzing the style with a liquid leave in at night before wrapping it up in a satin/silk headscarf.
8. Be cute and stuff and enjoy your hair like make it fun omg

JQuiet what I do is use some clamps, bobby-pins, or rubber headbands. Keeps my scarf in place all night!!

Avoid the use of coconut oil this winter, fam! You can apply while is liquid, but once you go outside and is 50 degrees, it will be solid again and will clog everything (cuticles, follicles, pores...)

Great video, great tips, as usual. I do have a tip that I use. It gets very cold in ny. So usually NYC apartments have a lot of heat which dries your hair, your body and just in general dehydrates u. Drink more water in winter and hydrate your hair from the inside out.

Just get a microfiber "sport" bathtowel, they usually are that smooth (or in the car supplies section). I got my towels from there ages ago. My mom stitched one side of it shut, lengthwise, and now I have a giant turbie towel!

Hi, Will! I’ve seen your videos appear on my YT but this is the first one I’ve seen. Great job, I usually install braids from November- February, but now that I have so much hair, I debated omitting that this winter. Your video reminds me of why I’ve put so much effort into my hair for nearly 4.5 years. Lol @ ugg boots and dry scalp:)!!!

Olaide Martins Hi! I usually have braids with extensions in for about 4-6 weeks. After I remove them, I treat my hair with a hot oil treatment, good wash and conditioner, let my hair rest for a week, then repeat. Don’t forget to moisturize your braids almost daily while the extensions are in so you don’t have breakage / brittle hair afterwards! 😊🏆

baby i recently learned tea about my hair porosity, turns out low porosity hair gets build up because of proteins in products, so that manuka honey deep conditioner had to go

I’m low porosity and I do a protein treatment once a month there’s different types of protein find out which one is good for you if you need it.

Do I trim ends wet or dry? As my hair is starting to grow I'm having problems with single strand knots on the ends of my hair and I am just starting to see good healthy growth results and it feels great ...until I find myself running into these knots and I have to cut or pull out the knot and losing even a few hairs to this tangle issue is really upsetting. Any suggestions about when to trim? I'm hoping trim will correct the knot issue.
