I've been straight hair natural for 25 years. I've only had heat damage for a brief period in the early 2000's in college when I transitioned from a stylist caring for my hair to silk pressing my own hair. My hair length is in between both of yours (longer than the guest's, yet a tiny bit shorter than the host's) I'm now color-treating my hair, and after going lighter, I only fool with salon-grade products. I wash every 2 weeks (sometimes 3 weeks). I used to sit under the dryer to deep condition, but now I just use one of those microwave heating caps. My goal is tailbone length.

Can I just ask how the condition of your hair is after using heat for so long? Have you experienced any thinning?
@tacthom
@tacthom 6 месяцев назад
@CoilyDiaries I haven't had any adverse effects. My ends are full, and my curl pattern is still intact...but I also use salon-grade products to rebuild the bonds in my hair and maintain the integrity and elasticity of my hair strands. I deep condition with every wash, and do a K18 bond builder treatment before flat ironing. I also moisturize my mid-shaft and ends of my hair throughout the week while it's pressed.

@jasminerosewater3891
@jasminerosewater3891 Год назад
I can answer some of these, I've been a straight hair natural for 3 years and my hair reverts every single time. Curls still healthy and defined from root to tip. 1.) I work out 3x a week and use a sweat wicking headband to pull my hair back, and I wear my hair in a low bun. I wear it like that and DO NOT take the bun out until I'm home and my hair fully dries back down. I take my headband off, bun out, and use a dry shampoo to refresh the sweaty root smell. I go about my day and my hair looks perfect for work. The roots get a little reverted but my night scarf smooths everything back down, it's amazing actually. 2.) A good thick satin scarf tied tight at night eliminates whatever frizz comes up during the day for me. I wear each of my presses for a full month and there is a point around 3 weeks where a little frizz around the edges is inevitable. At that point I start setting my hair into pin curls or putting it in a heatless curl tube every night. The loose curls mask most frizz but the look is definitely not super super super polished and smooth. Good enough for work though, definitely. 3.) 4 weeks is pushing it so 8 weeks is definitely pushing it, your hair will start feeling stiff when it's time to wash and deep condition between presses. Dry shampoo and shine serum will keep you looking pretty fresh 4.) Once I press I DO NOT use heat again. Learn to master heatless curls 5.) My hair breaks more natural because of SSKs and over-manipulation than straight where I usually only touch it once all day, taking my curls down. One bit of advice is to NOT BRUSH THROUGH your straight hair when it starts getting old. Only finger detangle and use a soft brush for styling but do not comb through the hair. Begging for breakage then. 6) I do my full reset once a month. Wash, deep condition, Olaplex and protein treatment (only every other month). How well you treat your hair between presses matters a lot in the health of your press. 7) Massage, consistent use of stimulating oils, gentle styling is said to grow edges back.

Rev airusing, straight hair natural here. Last wash day I did a full-on-grease-my-scalp-then hot comb- press. Man, my hair really loved that. Not a ton of hair greased used, but juuuuuust enough to get a good press. I try to stretch my washes for a month and my hair is touching the bottom of my back, almost kissing my butt crack. I’m thinking by Christmas it will be on my actual crack, hahaha. Can’t wait.

Coiliness only happens when I drench my hair with water. Humidity frizz-I just live with it. It’s looks good because I have so much length. It’s just big and pretty in my opinion. I hate to hear that stress took your hair; it does that to soooo many. 8)how do you ticken up ulyou ends without cutting it?
@ashlaraque4135
@ashlaraque4135 Год назад
You always need to make sure that you protect your mids and ends. Doing this will retain length and decrease breakage thus promoting thicker ends. To protect my mids and my ends I roll up my hair in two or three rollers from the back and then tie up my hair with a satin scarf when home. When I sleep I always wear a satin bonnet and I use satin pillowcases in case my bonnet slips off. I also oil my meds and ends, you can use any oil that you like that isn’t too heavy, I personally use the Olaplex 7 because it last long and it smells good as well as it has UV protection but there are lots of hair oils out there that aren’t too heavy like the one from Fekkai or the Moroccan oil one. Also if you are having split ends/breakage issues causing thin ends you should try the Redken extreme length collection. It’s great for retaining length. I use the shampoo, the hair mask, and I like to use the Redken extreme anti-snap leave in conditioner.
