Interesting how everyone has a different method. I’ve gotten my own way to work too. I certainly will give your method a try; maybe it’s more effective than mine.
This is one heck entertainment video while learning something new. Oh man, you make me laugh so hard. I am going to try your technique tomorrow cause I love Lychee aka Lie Chee. You will be always in my mind every time I eat Lychee or Chinese food.
🤣😂 thanks, man, yeah give it a go! be careful when you eat the fruit not to crack the seed by chomping on it, I found this would affect the growth a lot or not grow at all.
Hi there, just a question regarding the paper towel and foil, do you regularly moisten the paper towel or do you just do that once when you place the seeds in side it?
5:17 This guy tho🤣🤣 My neighbor has an apartment building sized litchi tree over 20 years old. I have no problem getting seeds. Thanks for the vid! Can't wait to see my seeds germinate
Lol, is this how all your videos are, great job. I definitely will subscribe. This was a great first impression 👍🏾. I look forward to watching many more videos, thanks for sharing.
Thanks mate! It's a massive help to hear positive feedback. I'm working on it 😂 after making so many videos you start loosening up and not talking like a robot any longer 🤣😂
What happens if they are kept longer in the moist towel and foliage? Will it start rotting? if so, about how long after? The thing is that I live in Sweden, and it's quite snowy during winter season from january to mars, and rarely any sun when it's snowy. But in some weeks it does get sunny at noon for a while, and the snow is melted for a few days. It's still a cold weather, but not so bad. Will it be fine if I grow my seeds at the beginning of febuary? Also, Great Video😊👍🏻
hey Linnea, you would have to keep it warm in winter, Lychee will not survive snow or frost, you'll need to find a way to shelter it, maybe in a heated greenhouse or bright spot in the house. It should be ok in the moist towel and you should see some growth with in 2 weeks at most. If nothing is growing after 3 weeks then maybe the seed is bad, keep them warm also.
@@GreenthumbsGarden ok, we will see how it goes. Right now I put the seeds to root in a drawer like you did, but in the back of my room. And in two weeks I’ll give an update. If there is no greenhouse, could I maybe try a terrarium if I have a sunlight lamp for plants..?😅 Cause after all, I was planning to plant it in a pot and not in the garden👍🏻
Hi Linnea, sorry for the late response. For some reason RU-vid is flagging many comments and putting them in the spam section and I only just seen this 🙄 I think it probably will out grow the terrarium pretty fast, maybe just find a nice bright spot in the house, and on warm sunny days when the temps are not too low you could leave it outside.
Lychee wont grow true to seed, so its a gamble what you'll get, it could be poor fruit or it could be good. To guarantee good fruit that's why people graft. If you can find a tree that produces well then you can try grafting on your seed-grown rootstock. We will do grafting in future videos which will be fun... the hard part will be finding a good tree to take a graft from. Not much Lychee grown here 🙄
@@GreenthumbsGarden I have a connection in Miami with amazing lychee which is why I was asking in the first place, now I know I need to get a graft of this tree !!
You making laugh so much that my stomach hurts when you mentioned asking the chinese restaurant for a spare chopsticks! And fried rice, Spring rolls. The owner will shoo you out with the broom. Haha.
Never Zippy! It was not a poke at all. Rather the absurd thought of going to a Chinese restaurant to ask for some leftover Lychee seed...then some chopsticks 🤣 then why stop with that. The funny part was laughing at the thought of ourselves doing such a thing tormenting poor restaurant owners with our requests.
Oh my word, I haven’t laughed that much in a while, my stomach hurts after that Chinese chopstick bit. Great video, just found your channel, very entertaining and great content!
Yes there will be one soon, I have many videos backlogged and all the editing is just down to little old me... 🤣 and that takes hours of work sometimes. I have cherry, lychee, venus flytrap videos all in the pipeline 😰 and a bunch more videos already shot and need shooting... 😅 overwhelmed...lol
No sense in asking the Chinese restaurant owner for free rice, if you only have ONE chopstick. Even a Chinese person couldn't eat the rice with only ONE stick..........😁
No he is correct, Western people pronounce it wrong using their phonetics. Lychee the LY sound is like a hard "i", but also a slight down tone. It's a Chinese fruit and that how we say it. 100% it's not LEE.
Noticed that your tissue was moist when you removed the seeds after 23 days.. surely the tissue is going to dry up, even if it’s in the foil. So do you have to keep the tissue moist for the 2 weeks?
