This video is a detailed description of Miss Kim Lilac. Miss Kim is a low maintenance Korean Lilac that is more heat tolerant than other varieties. It has the same fragrant flowers as other types, but can grow in zones 7 and 8. Miss Kim can reach 6 to 8 feet in height.

Thank you, once again, for posting this video. I just got my Miss Kim from Lowe’s from a clearance section. I’ve been wanting this lilac for years, and there she sat. There was nothing wrong with it. I couldn’t understand why she was clearanced, but I quickly picked up her (whooooosh), and out her in my cart. Lucky day for me.

I purchased as sad 2 korean lilacs from a nursery and they appeared more dense and similar to a hedge (?) but, WOW THE SWEET, LONG LASTING SCENT that literally did my Spring Cleaning For Me from out in our front yard was Amazing ! I only cut the stems as they started to die off because the bush was so thick and full of blooms We made sure it was kept cut tight like that and this continued as long as we lived there. There's nothing like that sweet scent of the lilac !

Great video Jim! I just bought two in Orange County CA zone 10 for our southern exposure backyard. The nursery said I could grow these well in pots as our backyard is hardscape. I have two huge ceramic pots about 2.5’ tall and 20” in diameter. Can they grow in these? Also, how do you know if they get root bound? I really don’t want them to get too big so as not to block the ocean view, but I miss lilacs from IL. Thanks!

Hi, Loved the video! My neighbor has a couple of Miss Kim Lilacs out in front of her house. She is having a issue with one side of lilacs are sparse and very small leaves. They are not yellowed or veiny leaves, so don't think Iron is a problem. She said the last couple of years they have been going downhill! She goes out and prunes the ends, it's not helping. Any recomendations?

My husband unknowingly pruned off "dead branches..." of my Miss Kim lilas in September in Minnesota. Is there anything I can do to ensure it does not die? I love this plant and realize, if it survives, it may not bloom until the next year.

Jim, I hope you see this message. I live in Southern California. I have a Miss Kim and I almost lost it this year from the freezing temperatures we got this last year. This plant is three years old. I’ve never had a flower on it, and right now, it has maybe two six inch stems with growth on it. It’s in a container, it gets morning sun and I do feed it. Any thoughts on what I could be doing Wrong?

Hi thanks... miss Kim moved with us, lived thru winter..planted spring did not expect blooms. It now looks shabby 😒 is it supposed to ? Should it have dry dying leaves? Do I do anything to it now?

My miss Kim bloomed fabulously last year. Pruned it and this year not one bloom. I pruned it shortly after it bloomed. Why didn’t it bloom this year. It smells like heaven so disappointed no blooms

Just below the flowers if it needs it. Once established they can be cut in half if necessary.

Hi Jim,great video. Can I take my Miss Kim Lilac lol the way to the ground? We live in Middle Tennessee and I have been amiss in trimming my lilacs. I’m seeing new shoots coming up all over in the middle of my plants and I’m ready to start over. I cut the few blooms I got about a week go and even though I know the plants will be stubby for awhile I’m ready to do it. Thank you in advance.
@plantsim
@plantsim Год назад
If it needs pruning, prune it! Cut out everything dead and after that cut about 1/3 of the plant since it is growing season not dormant season. In the video Jim says you can take it down to 2 or 3 feet tall after blooming. Happy growing :)
