Guys if you want your hair long, leave it alone. It’s that simple.
@TheLonghairs

You can absolutely do that. I'm choosing to try some different styles along the way. I have until 2030 until my next donation, so what's the rush?

@powers1176reset yeah I completely agree, only idiots would waste their time cutting their mane off every few years… SMH 🤦🏻‍♂️🤌

@@_SamuraiWarrior_ because donating your hair to kids who can't grow theirs is a bad thing? Come on man!

@@_SamuraiWarrior_ @_SamuraiWarrior_ We had several women shave their heads at The Great Cut this year. But it's not about "us vs. them". We as men should find joy in the sacrifice. It's what true masculinity is all about. Plus, plenty of women donate their hair every day and we are grateful for that, and so are the kids.

@@TheLonghairs I am about 12 months ahead more or less in my hair growth journey . I had a small haircut in November because of a family function . The barber did take off a little more than I wanted but it’s growing nicely . I hope in 6 years to get to San Diego

First....donating hair to kids is really awesome and a good thing. I am on my first way to try really long hair and started also from a buzz cut (2 mm) about 2 years ago....sadly i wish i had started in my 20s. Now as a man at 45+ i still have a lot hair to grow due to good genes in this area. I mean it could be even better like some outstanding hair gene lottery winners like Ronald Reagan but it is OK (i would say i still have about 99% the same hairline i had after puberty which was more of a matured hairline with maybe kind of like a slightly widows peak Norwood 1.5 left and 1.6 right but stays solid since almost 30 years) and also the color is still there to 95%. Like i said, i started about 2 years ago with too many cuts between and made a huge step back at halftime because i got a 4 inches shorter step cut since the back part grows way faster and my hair was almost to thick and wild. From there it felt good to grow really out. After that i just gone to the barber 10 month later (just some weeks ago) to cut some split ends and clean up the neck. The barber said my ends are still healthy and just gave my neck a little clean up and cut just about 1/4 inch in some areas. So i guess i might go just in another year or so to the barber. If your hair is healthy there is no reason to cut something off every few weeks or even months. At the moment i am about shoulder length (with waves and some curls, 2C to 3A) and i like it now really. I hope i can get them at least down to my lower breast part or even down to my hips until i get too old. The awkward stage was really hard but i finally left it behind me. I tried indeed the same for a full beard to go that viking look but i never can get by beard behind that awkward phase and especially on the cheeks it does not look full and dense enough. I might go for a longer viking goatee style to go along with my long hair...but really i do not care so much about a big beard and from time to time i like it clean shave but damn i could not let my hair go now...at least for some years to go i guess. I almost feel like another person and i wear it with confidence. I mean i do not see so much in my area with longer full hair in my age and some people try me to get to the barber and get my military look back while some find it awesome and say they wish they had such hair as a man in my age. I still have a lot to learn how to handle it :)

What kind of haircuts/maintainenece did u do for the awkward phase? I got a buzz cut about a month and a half ago and I plan to grow my hair out again but I’m in that awkward phase and idk what to do. I’m thinking of tapering the sides and the back
@cinebient5343

@@zwoop2965 Nothing special....just hold on and wait and do. not care what other say. At least i can tell you that long full wavy hair is a nice thing to have in my age. The good thing the longer, the more easy is it to handle. I do not need any products and just use some hair oil and from time to time a creme gel to highlight my waves and curls. I have thick hair with a good density but the ends get easy dry and frizzy. The right products are very important for your type of hair and less is more. I hope i still have many years with long hair since i now really love it stands out, especially in my age group in my area. People often think i am at least 10 years younger than i am.

It’s gonna take until 2030 to be able to comb it, if you insist on listening to a barber, that makes their living cutting hair

Yep, I've got until 2030, no hurry. And I've already had long hair for several years, so I'm enjoying the different stages this go around.
