I love your passion for orchids, it's inspiring. I was recently given some divisions of cymbidiums from my mum, i think they might be the more upright variety. But i'm new to cyms so we'll see how i go! Just wanted to say thanks for all the tips & inspo, it's nice to find someone in my part of the world posting, much easier to apply your advice to my growing collection.

Love Cymbidiums. I live in Tropical S Florida and have a few in my collection. Your videos are very inspiring and helpful.

Thanks for watching! There's some interesting hybrids using the tropical Australian native Cymbidium available now - I wonder if you're able to get them?

I love the pendant Cymbidiums Mathew😌🙏💖I have 3 varieties of Cymbidium, and I just lost one to rot, now that was because our summers here in Japan have temperatures at 37℃ almost daily and it was in late afternoon sun that stressed the poor plant and killed it. I now keep the other 2 under a large tree out of that heat. Fingers crossed that they do well, and they should. In winter I have to put them in a polythene greenhouse.

Ah yes - late afternoon summer sun is vicious!

I found your channel a few days ago and have been binge watching ever since. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge. The best orchid show ever! I live in Chadstone SE Melbourne and this is right up my ally. My daughter moved into a house a few months ago and was throwing away the last owners plants - to my horror I diiscovered 8 or 9 cymbidiums , all completely flooded with this winter rains, the leaves are all blackened and soggy. Ive no idea of their colour or how to look after them. I will be following your care videos to the letter. Hopefully I can resuce them thanks to you.

Thanks for finding me. I'd start by letting them dry out then re-potting them in spring. Good luck!

I give my Zygo’s quite a lot more light than my Coelogynes and they flower regularly.

Love love your beautiful Cym’s! My goodness I just love seeing your orchids in bloom! And of course all the information you provide. Even though I am not living in your climate I do enjoy your tutorials. I have 2 young Cymbidiums that have not bloomed yet. They are not the large cymbidiums but look like they are going to stay smallish. I can’t find any information on them. I was wondering if you knew anything about them? One is Aussie Dreamtime Pakkret and the other is Bungy Jumper X tinlasonlanum (not sure of that spelling- tag is old) alba. I have been doing my best to keep them happy but without knowing anything about them I just have to guess. You are a very talented orchid grower!

Thanks for finding me! Well yours are two of the newer warmer growing hybrids with a tropical species ancestor! How interesting! These can probably take more light than their cooler cousins but I don't grow them so I couldn't really help. Try finding and an orchid group near you and see if any members are growing these warmer types and get their tips. Good luck - its a whole new interesting field of Cymbidium hybrids!

Strange that you can't get your Zygos to flower, I find them to be one of the easiest orchids to flower, You may need to increase the light on them, mine get quite a bit of light. If the foliage is dark green, I would up the light.

I know - EVERYONE can flower Zygos.....not me! I have mine in much more light now...we'll see.

Love both your lovely blooms, thanks for sharing the care tips and the gorgeous blooms. The information regarding same condition was useful so now I'm in the hunt for a good ceologeny! Which ceologeny has the strongest fragrance in your experience?
@helloplantlovers

Any of the easier to find ones will have a great fragrance....Unchained Melody....Cristata...and forms there of. Good luck!

I've been growing a Cymbidium Elegant Ice for 3 years. It has tons of psuedobulbs but has never flowered. I grow it out on my balcony all spring, summer and autumn and then bring it in for winter. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I live in finland which is humid and cold.

Hmmmm.....could be that your interior is too warm over winter? Is there somewhere cooler but bright - a porch? where you could try it? In New York in winter I used to put orchids on a bright window sill close to the glass so they'd get the cold from the glass to counteract the central heating and that seemed to work. Good luck!
@Meskarune
@Meskarune Год назад
@@helloplantlovers It could be. I have radiators under all my windows so there aren't really any cold window sills. Maybe I can try to keep one room cold, but homes in finland have ridiculous amounts of insulation and 4x layers of glass on the windows. It gets -30C outside in winter.

@@Meskarune Oh dear....then Cymbidiums might just be in the too hard basket!
