I started using grease again!! Lots of aloe vera, hair clay masks, i twist my hair , and stopped putting it in tight pony tails or any tight styles, all loose styles. No braids. In addition, vitamins, workout, having good detangling techniques etc
Thank you, @silverfox5732, for your feedback. It means a lot. You are definitely on the right track and you will see fantastic results. I know it requires patience, dedication, and time but it is so worth it in the end. Don't give up. I am just happy there is a platform like RU-vid where I can share all I have learned and will continue to share with anyone who needs help growing healthy, dense, long curly, coily, or kinky hair. ☺
Thank you @andreaasmr7383. Yes, you will retain more length like that. I know several people with very fine hair struggling to retain length, but they did the sister locks, and they can now prevent breakage. It's wonderful to find safe ways of achieving our hair goals. It makes me super excited to see them enjoy healthy, long-hair ☺
Diluted African Black Soap is an excellent cleanser that won't strip your hair. Use an apple cider vinegar rinse as your last step to keep away knots. Daily scalp massage can make a world of difference.Coat the ends of your hair with a heavy oil in between shampoos.
@WTFVIDSok, I love your comment; I agree. Thank You so much for sharing. In the past, around 2014, I noticed my scalp would itch after shampooing with every store-bought shampoo, so I switched to African black soap until Melanin Hair Care Black Soap shampoo was launched. I used diluted apple cider vinegar a couple times in 2019 but now I do herbal tea rinses. JBCO or herbal-infused castor oil and even locally sourced olive oil are great for sealing the hair's cuticles.
You are welcome. I am here to share the truth to help anyone who is struggling with growing their hair. My desire is to help you all achieve your hair goals. ☺. So it brings me joy in knowing that I am making a positive impact in your lives. Thank You very much for your kind feedback.
This is the best video ive seen in years on hair care wow thank you!! And your background is beautiful, which part of the world is this ? Again your video is really really great !!
Hi @tashanealwalcott7342, I use the entire egg; I like to pass it through a stocking, though, so that I don't get any of that white stuff stuck in my hair.
So, when I decided to switch from sulfate shampoos, I prepared my black soap shampoos for several years because other shampoos would cause my scalp to get it. At times, I incorporated shikakai powder into the black soap. I did this until Naptual85 (melanin-haircare) launched her black shampoo, and I switched to that to save time. It has worked well so far, with no itchy scalp. But I recently purchased a set by HarmonyNaturals by Lindsay Chris from Nigeria. I am yet to test the shampoo. But for now, the shampoo would be Melanin Hair Care's black soap. Now for conditioner, I like the deep- conditioner from Melanin Hair Care that has fenugreek and banana, BUT I recently tried The one I got from Harmony Naturals and liked it better. As for the leave-in conditioner, I used a twist elongating style cream for a long time from Melanin Hair Care, BUT I started to use the one from Harmony Naturals recently, and I must say I will be sticking to that one. I really love it. In a few weeks, I will do an unboxing video to share information about the Founder, who has thigh-length hair, and all the herbs the products are made from; I talk about their benefits all the time. Hibiscus, Rosemary, Aloe Vera etc. Plus, I am working with her to add them to my website for those who want to use the PayPal option.
Hi @gracewhite7827 thank you for reaching out. I completely understand what it is like to have fine hair and also lack density. But I noticed that after I started using various herbs for my hair and eating certain things, my strands transformed. If you noticed when I did the demonstration where I tried to comb my strands, I had to apply a lot of tension before they snapped? My hair was not always like like. So these are what I have been doing, for diet I ensure I have vitamin D3 in supplement form (in my video about vitamins for hair growth, I explained the importance of all the vitamins that will strengthen your hair, and promote growth, etc), and I ensure my Iron intake is optimized by eating liver and beef, but if you don't eat those then green leafy vegetables will work too and beetroot, I eat a lot of eggs and fresh fish like salmon, and I consume fruit smoothies with chia seeds(filled with zinc), cashew nuts, pumpkin seeds (filled with zinc) almond nuts wall nuts. So these allow my hair to grow stronger. Now, when it comes to herbs, my top herbs for hair strength are Henna, Amla, and Fenugreek. Those will strengthen your hair. I do a Henna mask once a month, and I have never looked back. For added strength, I do an egg mask once a month. I combine eggs with fenugreek mucilage, add some lime and lemongrass essential oil and honey and it has worked wonders. I increase the amount of hair growing out from your scalp my top herbs are hibiscus, fenugreek, bhringrah, amla, and, most importantly, rosemary. I make tea with these, apply a little to my scalp, and massage it. You don't need a lot. I also remoisturize my hair with these herbal teas. And last but not least the oils that work wonders for me are olive oil, castor oil and sometimes coconut oil infused with herbs like fenugreek, hibiscus, amla, bhringraj etc. So to recap first diet, herbs, as a hair mask, hair tea and hair oil, scalp massage, and protein treatment. These will strengthen your hair and allow you to grow more hair making your hair thick. ☺
What do you think about Wash n Go’s!! I was told daily Wash and Go’s keep the hair Ultimately Moisturized!!! I believe that is just too much manipulation for the thin strand Kinky Coily hair!!! Your tutorial is sufficient for me!!! Wash n Go’s a a No No for me!! Have a great weekend!!! God Bless!!!
Hi @stephaniepink9060, I completely agree with you, regular wash and go's is a no no for every hair type even those with straight hair where the sebum can coat their entire strands. Washing your hair daily will cause more ware and tare to your beautiful strands. Plus when your hair is out all the time and your ends are rubbing against your clothes, it will dry out, it will become brittle and ultimately break off, not to mention the tangles, knots and split ends. But now and again you can definitely rock a wash and Go for a special occasion. It would be great if you moisturized your hair well and seal it in with an oil and after the special occasion, put your hair in a moisturized protective style.
I just happened upon your video looking for a way to help me with moisture and to retain length to my hair. Your knowledge and information was so helpful and greatly appreciated 🫶🏾🤎🫶🏾
@shalove1505 I am happy you did not put in the relaxer. I did come across a study that was done on women who used relaxers and how it affects the reproductive system. I am considering doing a video about this; I can't say when exactly, though. But in addition to relaxers harming our reproductive organs, they rearrange the proteins in our hair to make our hair straight, and that causes the strands to become weak. Not to mention damage to the hair follicles when you suffer burns. Even though I was able to regrow my edges, they cannot handle much tension because I suffered burns in those areas everytime I relaxed my hair in the past. So that damage has just accumulated. I am still fortunate that I can still grow hair in those areas.
@@selfcarevoyage yes that’s what my cousin told me to that’s why I didn’t put it in but I can’t do anything with my natural hair it seems to be at a stand still im so over it it seems to have stopped growing when i was relaxed it growed faster and i just wrapped it at night no other problem its so time consuming and a lot of maintenance and spending a lot of money on products
Hi @shalove1505, I completely understand; I was right where you are. You see, I went to Cuba with relaxed hair. However, in Cuba, I could not get the relaxer I used back in Guyana, so I tried a Cuban relaxer, and that made the situation worse. I had no choice; I had to go natural. Now, I have been told all my life, and I am still told that my hair is hard and difficult to manage, and many imply that your hair is only beautiful if your hair is straight or has a larger curl pattern. But you know what, when I went natural in Cuba, I was lost; I didn't have the information I shared freely here on RU-vid, which would have made my journey easier, but what I had was LOVE for my hair. My mindset towards my hair was always positive; yes, it is dense now, and as it grows, it takes patience, but in the end, nothing good comes easy. You see,, when you change your mindset regarding your hair, take care of it the right way, take care of your diet, and get enough sleep, I am telling you, your hair will respond. I am not saying the journey will be easy; you will have to unlearn some things and relearn some, get to know your hair, and regarding products, nope, you don't need to spend tons of money. In the beginning, I dissolved African black soap to cleanse my strands, I used water to moisturize, I once used Cantu deep conditioner and Melanin hair care twist elongating style cream and castor oil to seal in the moisture. But you can experiment with what you have; if you have bananas, aloe vera gel, and honey, make a deep conditioner with those. If you have olive oil or castor oil, use that for your scalp massages and to seal moisture in your hair. I literally use eggs as my protein treatments. If you can get your hands on shea butter, then use that instead of a leave-in conditioner. Natural remedies are the best and can be sourced easily and inexpensively. This is why I talk about the benefits of each herb for hair so that you can use the one you have. If you don't have one, then you can always find a substitute, and if you have any questions or don't know where to start, simply reach out. I am here to help.
@@shalove1505 in addition, our hair is always growing except in cases where maybe your thyroid hormones are abnormal, or maybe your vitamins and minerals are low, or maybe you have low iron or low Vitamin D3 or zinc ( check out the video about vitamins and foods for hair growth) it's on my channel. But if these are fine, then your hair is growing, but the problem is not growth but breakage. You see, our hair grows 1/2 an inch and, for some people, even 2 inches every single month, BUT many people break off more than two inches of hair every month, and in that case, it will seem as if your hair is not growing. So this video that explains what our hair needs tells you how to keep your hair from breaking off. Don't close your mind to dealing with your natural hair; begin to enjoy your curls; our curls are so beautiful. Do you know how many people with straight hair do interesting things to imitate our gorgeous natural curls?😆
@claudinebigirimana5408 Yes, rhassoul clay, for example, removes excess buildup and dirt from the scalp and is awesome for curl definition, especially when mixed with apple cider vinegar. However, you should not overuse it as it can strip your hair and if you don't rinse it out thoroughly, it can lead to buildup.
Hi @lilliemcbridewilliams3221 thank you for your feedback. First, ensure you are eating enough foods rich in iron; if you eat meat, liver, and beef are great sources, but beetroot, fenugreek seeds, and green leafy vegetables are fantastic sources. You also must ensure your vitamin D3 levels are fine, and that you can get enough sunlight or supplements. Then ensure your zinc intake is fine, too, so chia seeds, mushrooms, and pumpkin seeds are great sources. For proteins, eggs are a great source and fresh fish. Sulfur is also vital and you will get those from onions and supplements like MSM crystals (ensure you are not allergic). I have a video you can watch where I talk about vitamins for your hair. Now, for the outside, use natural products that will strengthen your hair. My go-to are Henna, Amla, and Fenugreek, and I also apply eggs on my hair, which strengthens it from the outside. I use hibiscus, amla, fenugreek, bhringraj, lavender, rosemary, and others to stimulate hair growth. I use them as hair teas, and I also infuse these herbs into my oils, mainly olive oil and castor oil on rare occasions, coconut oil. So first, ensure your nutrients are at the optimum because if they are not, you will not have enough nutrients to nourish your hair. You can also drink teas, which will cleanse you if you have any toxins and harmful compounds in your system, so the nutrients that go to your hair follicles will be nice and healthy. Then, in addition to your diet, use any of the herbs I mentioned, or use them if you can afford to get more than one.
