In this video I will be planting strawflower seeds in the heated hoop house greenhouse, I will also be showing some strawflower seedlings and plants that I already have growing. I will also be talking about how to grow strawflowers from seed indoors.

What would be helpful is if you mentioned what months (besides just April) to start them indoors; what time frame to direct sow; and what months they bloom.

Thank you for this video! I’m growing strawflowers for the first time this year (well, last year I dumbly put them in the ground) and am wondering how big of a pot one plant will need? I have regular size, not giants. I’ve transplanted form cell packs to cups now. Thanks!

Hi, Your welcome! Strawflowers are one of my favorite flower to grow! A 10" container should be fine for 1 plant. The bigger the container the bigger the plant should grow. Happy Gardening! Carrie

Hi, You will have to use an insecticidal soap on them to get rid of the leaf miners. Neem oil does work for leaf miners.

Hi, I am currently experiment with pinching the ones I have growing in my greenhouse. It seems to be giving more side branches but I'm not sure how they will bloom yet.

if i may asked, do the seeds need to be cold stratification before sow?

You don't have to chill the seeds before sowing but I still do. It seems I get better germination rates when I do chill them for 3 days first. I chill mine by taking the pack of seeds and putting them in a ziplock bag for like 3 days before I sow them. I keep all of my seeds stored in the refrigerator in closed ziplock bags except for nasturtium seeds. I hope that helps you!
