Tamarind seeds are easy to germinate and grow with this new method that I've discovered. Watch this video to find out how to have a tamarind tree of your own!
Please Note: With any tree grown from seed, the tree may not grow true to type. It may take longer for the tree to produce fruit. The fruit grown from the tree may not have the same characteristics and taste as the original fruit.

I was eating tamarind and thought, maybe I could plant the seed just for fun🤣 I planted it immediately after eating, and 3day or so I was shocked to see the seed grew, and here I am watching how to properly raise it🤣

I recently ate a Mexican candy 'Tamarindo pulp'... They come in a clear labeled baggy.. Some of these contain seeds, so I jokingly stuck one in a pot with my wife's plants, I had forgotten all about the seed until my wife pointed out to me that another plant seedling was coming thru the soil of one of her plants, I explained to her what I had done, no biggy...I moved Tamarind seedling into another pot and has now become my plant project... Crazy that the seeds went thru the candy making process and still survived

Be sure that you have lots of yard space. Tamarind trees get extremely large! They grow in the wild here in the Bahamas, I love tamarind sauce. Here's the recipe: In a medium saucepan boil 15 to 20 ripe tamarinds (outer shell removed) with or without veins. Stirring constantly add sugar to your taste. Simmer on medium heat stirring from time to time until the mixture is thickened to ketchup (catsup?) like consistency. Cool and eat as is or serve with meat such as steak or a burger...Yummy! Warning: Be sure not to eat too much one-time. Tamarind pulp sauce is a known laxative!

There is a sweet tamarind in Thailand that you don't have to add sugar. It's very delicious. I had to get a grafted plant after visiting Thailand and falling in love with the sweet tamarind. Just eat fresh.

Hello @@cy4330 I'm familiar with the Thai tamarinds; they are very sweet compared to the ones in the Bahamas.The ones here tend to be a mix of tart and sweet many times the same tree produces both

My mom brought back a bag of tamarind for juice, and i collected the seeds and did this to half of them (just to see for myself how good it actually was), it was the best/worst decision I’ve ever made cus IT WORKED VERY WELL and now i have like 25 tamarind little plants with leaves and all and I don’t even know how to take care of a tamarind plant, let alone… 25+ of them 😂😂
@octane7047

Tamarind is a very good plant to have in your garden since it takes nitrogen from the atmosphere to create fertiliser for the soil. Wherever the roots reach, the soil there get better and nearby plants are benefited. Tamarind leaves are also edible and used as vegetables in many countries.
@emmamiddleton7654
@emmamiddleton7654 Месяц назад
@@octane7047Do you cook the leaves?
@octane7047
@octane7047 Месяц назад
@@emmamiddleton7654 yes, i put lots of them in soup, creating a mild sour flavour (similar to that of the tamarind fruit itself). There are dishes using the young fresh leaves as salads but i've never tried 😄
