This is a nearly full detail video on how to do the oil change on the GSX 8R or 8S bikes by Suzuki. I believe I use the easiest method unless you want to try doing it without removing ANY of the plastics. If there are any questions or problems please comment below and I'll do my best to reply in short time.

Just about to do my first service on my gsx8r. Thanks for the video, I don't want to break any of those damn plastic pins. Glad you pointed them out

Thanks for the tutorial. I did 3 changes recently during my break-in period. I did mine side stand without removing the faring to see how it works since it appeared accessible. First time some oil drips on fairing not bad and made sure to clean the fairing thoroughly of any residual oil. Second time I used a makeshift piece of bent cardboard as a dam to prevent those drips from hitting the fairing and that is my go to method now. I don't think I will ever remove the fairing as I have tight but relatively easy access with torque wrench on side stand. Be mindful of the hot exhaust pipe as I brushed my knuckle on it slightly on my first change and mindful of it now. Wanted to add that the $7.99 Harbor Freight PITTSBURGH AUTOMOTIVE Oil Pan with Spout has easy clearance under the bike on side stand and has a handy oil filter drain/holder.

3 changes during break in! That's gotta be some kind of record, but I don't blame you. Just curious - did you feel compelled to change another 2 times because the first was so bad? Or just being extremely cautious?

@@petrol11 I admit that was overboard and in hindsight I would have just done 2 changes before 600mi service. I over purchased 12 quarts of the Valvoline conventional just for the break-in. I got it cheap in 6 pack deals for like 6 bucks a quart. I did the 3rd change just to be rid of the conventional and swap to recommended synthetic for all changes after 600mi. There was small amount of material on the drain plug magnet at 71 mile change. Second change magnet clean but I noticed some shiny flake in the bottom of my drain pan on second change at 189mi. I noticed neither evidence of shavings at my 3rd 402mi change. I suspect the flake in pan was clutch material from a bad shift. Going in for my 600mi service in the morning.

Is that torque wrench size 3/8? and Extension kit length please! Thank you
@MixedGrid
@MixedGrid 2 месяца назад
You don't really NEED an extension, but it was a 12" extension. Yes it was a 3/8" torque wrench. Not all are the same for the low and upper limits. I did link some tools below in the description.
