My take on How To Hammock Camp.
DD frontline Hammock, DD 3x3 tarp, DD under blanket, DD whoopie suspension system, 550 parracord, wool blanket & loads of Caribinas
I run through my hammock kit, the modifications I've made, the reasons behind them, and a full set up demonstration.
If you have any Tips for me to better my set up, then let me know in the comments section.
If you enjoyed the vid, don't forget to give it the thumbs up 👍
if you've enjoyed more than 1 of my videos, then why not hit the subscribe button to be notified when I upload my next Video (its free!)
Cheers 🙂👍

I've been using the DD hammock set up for the past 4 years now, and can't fault it. A nice little addition is the DD Magic Carpet, which is a small tarp that you set up on the ground, underneath your hammock...great for laying the rest of your gear on, keeping clean getting in/out of hammock, and a dry area to do your cooking

Great video! Little tip: cut those loose paracord ends and use lighter to melt them so that it looks clean and pro. 😉

Great vid. I’d recommend cutting down on the biners maybe just put one at each end of the tarp and feed the ridge line through the middle holes. It’ll cut down on weight but most importantly it’ll make your tarp taut

Wow, hard to believe that there's 2 knots exactly the same & with names almost identical, the peruseik knot you were using & the prusik knot which everyone else uses, 🤣 great video by the way!

Hi, great vid, thanks...heh I have that exact hammock and tarp setup...and also a ragley marley! (great bike). I like your tips re carabiners and knots on a ridge line which looks way quicker than my way...but couldn’t you put that tarp diagonally to make sure the ends of the hammock are also covered and it doesn’t collect water? Still provides loads of cover at the sides and you only need two guy lines/pegs too My second tip is secondary glazing film (the stuff you cover windows with over winter and heat seal)...it’s CRAZY strong and light and cheap...it makes a great groundsheet so you don’t have to get soggy feet getting out of your hammock in the morning...but I also take extra glazing film plus 4 15mm ball bearings to make an extra tarp for chilling/cooking under (place a BB near each corner on one side and knot paracord around the BB from the other side to secure without it ripping when suspended from a tree); it’s survived a few strong storms and never failed and the setup weighs nothing, you won’t regret giving it a go, give me a shout if that doesn’t make sense! Happy camping

Tell you what, I really enjoyed this one buddy. Spent a month looking for videos just like this one that's in depth and shows lots of mods and good ideas to make things easier for newbies to hammock camping. Only thing I'd love to have seen is trying to find suitable trees and their distance say in all types of woodland....finding suitable spacing and different types of woodland, to suitable clearance from scrub etc. But none the less, what a great video mate. Thank you for the tips, very much appreciated. Subscribing as soon as I have finished typing this 👍

Hey thanks Steve. I was the same when I was looking at getting into hammock camping. Theres loads of info out there, just spread out over loads of different videos, hence the idea behind making this. Good shout about the trees themselves and location, theres a few things I could put together to make a part 2 for this, 🙂👍

Cheers Simon, they are a great bit of kit. Dai has the latest frontline which looks a bit roomier and as mentioned has wider spreader bars for the bug net which makes it an even better option 👌 Hope your having a good weekend 🙂👍

Great video. When the trees are large like that, I never know if it's best to pass the tree huggers around the tree and clip both loops onto the hammock as you have done there, or loop one end of the tree hugger through the loop on the other end, and attach the other loop to the hammock. Option 1 feels like it would be stronger, but more liable to slip down the tree (albeit probably not when there is weight on it).
@Shaun-Wilson
@Shaun-Wilson 2 года назад
Hi Brian, I use both methods depending on the situation. If I've got a big distance to span, I'll loop the strap through itself, if there a little closer together, I'll go for the wrap 🙂👍

Hi Shaun great vid,,,, I’ve got the APG 1.4 LTR JETBOIL TYPE SYSTEM and a pal of mine has the original jetboil,,, I think the problem is that the burner on both are bit of a gimmick,they don’t really Chuck out a load of heat,but the flux ring is bang on!’! So I’ve just purchased the good old Vango compact stove on line for a tenna,,,so what I did was opened the 3 legs of the stove placed it smack centre on the base of the APG pot,marked either side of them,got my 4 1/2 grinder and ground just an 1/8 into the base,, so then the feet lock into the base,no sliding,, we both put 500ml water into APG and jetboil,, mine just blew his out the water,,, 40 seconds faster and 3 grams less fuel!! ! Doing such a small grind doesn’t break down the integrity of the pot at all,,,,I’ll never use the original burner again,,,try it out mate,,,well that’s if you get the vango mini gas stove hahahahaha ! Andy

How heavy is this setup with all of the carabiners? Would it be good for backpacking?
@CreachterZ

Wondering why most folks don’t use Kevlar line rather than parador. It’s thinner for the same weight and especially useful here, it doesn’t stretch at all. Any thoughts?

Hello mate. You know, I was meaning to put some text over the vid. I've made it look like the bug net is separate, when infact, the hammock and bug net are 1 piece. It just has zips either side so you can choose which side you want to use to get in and out 🙂👍
